Megaman - Monday, July 10, 2000, 8:03 PM
----------------------------------------
<Global News Network> <Emergency Broadcast> An anonymous male voice narrates as pictures of hurricane-stricken coasts worldwide are displayed. "In what is apparently another attack by the Stardroids, citizens in coastal areas have been evacuated in-land in what is apparently a massive hurricane. Unlike anything ever seen before, this enormous storm has taken up residence centered in the eastern Pacific Ocean and is battering coastlines from Vietnam to Peru. The UN and Red Cross have dispatched emergency relief teams, but until the source of this can be stopped, the death toll continues to rise."
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'A /storm/?'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'People, if you haven't seen the latest news report turn a radio on *now*'.
(Ch. E [None]) Cut Man transmits: 'Yeah...right'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Obviously the work of Neptune.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Well now I would believe that's a call to action in such a case.'.
(Ch. E []) Gravity Man transmits: 'You're a sharp one, Zero'.
(Ch. E []) Gravity Man transmits: 'We're all gonna DIE'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Thanks for the encouragement.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Neptune...Lord of Seas and Water. Suggested modus operendi, energy, fire, ice, and electrical attacks.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Also, please keep me apprised of the situation...I might be able to further formulate plans.'.
(Ch. E []) Gravity Man transmits: 'Easy on the fancy book learnin, you're scarin the ladies!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Ahh...you do your father proud, Blizzard. As for attacks...Hold all until I give the word. This Stardroid must be allowed his chance at survival...'.
<Eastern Pacific...>
Screen> Neptune takes in the newer arrivals with the barest minimum of a flick of his optics, before they settle on the WilyDragon once more. A low rumbling and grating sounds erupts from the Stardroid's throat. After his laughter subsides, Neptune points a scaled finger at the WilyDragon, "I know who you be, Pervert. Now take yer little snake and be gone before I take offense. I have no desire to listen to yer voice... though I may decide to listen to your screams for mercy." In further demonstration of how well he can suspend the laws of nature, various spouts of water stream up from the ocean's surface and begin to weave in and out of each other in some strange and complex aquatic dance.
Ice Man runs to the back of the Shipwreck and double checks his systems, and runs a diagnosis etc. etc. and checks his arsenal and finally does a really loud gulp.
Ash Coyote climbs out of the sub after Ice man, and looks around. He makes the hop to the wreck and begins scanning the area for wounded civilians... ignoring the droid.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'A net search states in mythology he's in connection with the Greek God of Poseiden, worshiped in connection with navigation. Does that help?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Sword Man transmits: 'Not much.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Navigation...Why yes, of course...'.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: 'I am not questioning your actions, Doctor, but might I ask if that choice of words was proper, considering we seek a non-violent outcome?'.
Gravity Man hops out of the sub and hovers over the water, because no one else was and it's different. He's not disturbed by it or the wind as he's surrounded by a dense field of reverse gravity. He's not really here to fight the Stardroid dramatically, or anything - he's secretly here just to see the water show. While he pays a bit of attention to the bantering between Wily and Neptune, but mostly just watches the nifty water effects
The WilyDragon soars over the sprays of water... always keeping his eyes on Neptune. "I speak, Sea Lord, of keys, Peace, Understanding, and the survival of this world. I am here to offer you a simple offer..." The Dragon speaks respectfully to the Sea Lord... "I am here to give you the offer to surrender your Key to the prison of Terra. I wish only that... if you do not comply...We will be forced to claim the key."
The aquatic ride armor, now fully encased in blue-green armor, dives beneath the waves, the hidden pilot inside operating various controls in the dimly lit cockpit. Bubbles trailing him, he watches the slightly fuzzy view of the frontal view, as well as the side, rear, above, and below views, each with its own screen. Might as well cruise below the surface until he's needed to attack.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Drat. Anyone there have magnetic abilities?'. (Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'I know what I am doing, Chi.'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'I think I know what he's thinking, is there some way you could make a Magnet? In some way that wouldn't affect the air and seacraft...'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I may be able to confuse him long enough for you to trick him into releasing the key...'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'That would be my goal Iris.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: 'Of course. Your choice stands for us then, Doctor.'.
King Dragon is seen fighting against the winds high in the air as he soars toward the submarine there, approaching it he half goes in the water opening his hands to the submarine and letting off two units. One is Jewel Lioness, the other is Ward Gargoyle, after doing so he nods at the two of them and dives under the water the rest of the way
(Ch. E []) Swing transmits: 'My static battery is capable of amplifying a charge. I'd need something to act as a capacitor, though.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Do not act until I give the word!'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Maybe you don't have to trick or attack him. His namesake is listed as a protector.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Protector...Neptune...Perhaps...Ah, I know. *clickety of keyboard*'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'And a destroyer. Mythology is just about as consistent as the Stardroids themselves.'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Balance, Enker. That's what they go by.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'Among other things, Neptune, the Roman name for Poseidon, is also God of sea creatures, regular horses, sailors, as well as great storms. Logically, I'd say he'd follow the lead of most of the other Stardroids and see us as a hostile, Balance-harming presence in the ocean. As we over-fish, pollute, etc.'.
Swing continues to hover on the broken prow of the ship, looking up at Neptune, curious if this influx of warriors has shaken him. Realizing the Stardroid hasn't so much as blinked, he watches the sea king and waits for him to play his next card.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'If mythology is going to save us, then Air weapons are the ones to use against him. But personally, I wouldn't count on it.'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Mythology is a vehicle for also expressing everyday truths.'.
Neptune lowers his trident, the triple tines coming level with his gaze now as he stares down unflinchingly at the WilyDragon. His left-hand morphs into a cannon as he quietly and calmly states, "Do what ye must. But surrender is not in my nature...as the sea against the shores, relentless am I." What he does not say is that the sea is also changeable...tides turn. "I have my duty. And I will carry it out."
Ash Coyote sighs watching the masters, "Could their maker have added backbones?"
Slash Man leaps up onto the wrecked ship from the whale sub. He immediately starts to make for the highest point on the ship, wherever that may be. He crouches down and peers at Neptune. "Grr."
(Ch. E []) Swing transmits: 'Oh my....'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: '*tapity tapity tap*...Ah, here we go...Yes, Needle Man is undoubtedly going to be correct. Air weapons will be of excellent idea, however, given information currently, I believe electrical attacks would be our best bet...'.
Released by King Dragon's stalwart grip, Ward Gargoyle and Jewel Lioness hit the water with an audible *SPLASH!* Both Repliforcers being tossed about violently within the rough surf. Obviously neither was built for such an environment. Missing Ice Man's radio message to his radio shorting out, Ward Gargoyle attempts a leap from the watery abyss, lower legs gripping at Jewel's form tightly. Booster rockets thrusting at full, the Arbitrator and the bejeweled Lioness careen through the rough skies, only vaguely away of the thrashing submarine tossed about in the water before them.
Swing tenses his gaze as he stares up the column of water, looking back over his shoulder at the other arrivals. They're not in a good place, he suddenly realizes.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'How do we know electricity works on him? Water does conduct electricity, too, but so does metal. Does that mean we're all extra-weak to electricity, Blizzard?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'Although water, in its purest state, is not an electric conductor. If these beings represent their elements in pure, untouched form, electricity would logically be less effective.'.
Chi shrugs at Neptune's words, he readies the Masamune now with both hands, but there is very little energy flow to the massive halberd. He sighs, but says nothing.
Anthem pushes herself forward along the deck, carefully planting her feet with each step. While the hurricane-winds that surround the area aren't as fierce within this eye, who knows when Neptune will unleash them at closer range. "He does his job, we do ours. Should've guessed, though. They *never* choose the easy way."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Hrm...Well...This is salt water...Fragger...The salinity will disrupt the electrical current...Iris, you're a genius.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ward Gargoyle transmits: '*Bzzt!* I recall in the battle with Venus, *Crackle!* Electricity proved effective in *Zzt!*..disorienting him..*bzzt!* ..perhaps we may hold the same case with Neptune..'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'Neptune represents the sea, which is saltwater, and very conductive. It seems we're not sure what to hit him with... So if you must favor something, use Electric and Air, otherwise just hit him with the strongest you have, if Wily gives the order to fire.'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Guys, try to pursuade him first. I don't think he wants to fight. Think...Navigation. What does navigation go by? The changing winds...it's worth a shot. (Er...pardon expression.)'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'But this discussion is pointless. Perhaps we should just wait for a 'grass-type' Stardroid to arrive and use our 'bug-type' soldiers against it.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Gravity Man, you and Needle Man work in conjunction to create a giant compass and find someone or something magnetic...I have the beginnings of a plan. Once more I congratulate Iris on her stupendous intellect.'.
The WilyDragon continues to circle slowly about the Sea Lord, the voice of the Corruptor ringing out. "If you allow Duo and the others their way... this world... the seas and oceans you seem to love so much will be destroyed. Every fish... whale... seabird... shark... and every tiny bit of plankton in the sea..." The Mad Doctor gazes down though the eyes of his Dragon apon the Stardroid... "Are you so blind as to see how foolish this is... You and your own kind are the ones who are being Judged, not us! Each of us has the capacity for our own Salvation or Destruction within us, Neptune... Which... do you choose?" The WilyDragon arches... -The DragonBrow- ...as it continues to circle around Neptune on high.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'See? I told all of you about how great Iris is. Now you believe me.'.
(Ch. E []) Guts Man transmits: 'Right...'.
Swing steps up further on the brittle metal of the shipwreck. "It's necessary." he whispers, though he's certain the Sea god can hear him. Small sparks play in his eyes as he looks up the pillar of water.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Cut the chatter... NOW!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'I was being sarcastic. My apologies, Father.'.
Swing suddenly swan dives into the water as a transmission crackles over his frame.
The column of water finally lowers until the Water Guardian Stardroid hovers only a few meters above the surface. His deep, echoing voice rolls out across the water like a foghorn, "I know what will come of the creatures of the sea. And while it may not please me, it be Duo's judgment. There be little that can change that now..." His jaw clenches, and as if angered by the truths Wily pointed out, Neptune thrusts his cannon-arm forward. Blue energies begin to swirl at the tip, water mist forming around the edges of the glow. "But until ye convince me that judgment be wrong, be gone from my sight." With the hideous roar of a held tidal wave being released, a massive cone of water erupts from the Stardroid's cannon, swirling in liquid fury towards the WilyDragon.
Ice Man turns to look at WilyDragon and let's out a screech, "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!!!!!!"
The WilyDragon ROARS in pain and anger, the blast sending the Dragon /flying/ back towards and into the wall of the Storm... crashing into the sea a good distance beyond with a /massive/ eruption of water!
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'He has made his choice... attack...'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'No, don't!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Attack!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ordnance Gopher transmits: 'Yiiiippeeee! Opening fire!'.
Norm's eyes go wide and he pushes the accelerator on his hoverboard for all its worth. "UNHOLY MOTHER OF A MISBEGOTTEN MACKEREL!" He screams as he flashes past Neptune..."Oh no..." He sighs and pushes the hoverboard to the limit, trying to keep from losing another one.
King Dragon glances up again from under the sea just as Wily goes soaring back and crashes into the water, with a thrust of his wings and using them as large fins he steers himself back to the dragon grabs him and erupts out of the water with him in tow "You alright?"
All around, the winds kick up a notch, blowing harder within the sheltered eye of the hurricane. The tattered sails on the shipwreck's centuries-old masts flap wildly, trying to catch the ship and move it once more. A few steps, and Anthem pushes herself to stand upon the bow as the dead ship's new figurehead. Cannon raised, she yells into the wind. "YOU HEARD THE MAN! EVERYBODY - GO FOR IT!"
Chi seems momentarily disappointed that hostilities had to result, but this is quickly replaced by a professional demeanor. He receives a quick transmission, and as he enters a ready stance, he charges energy through his Masamune. Quickly he shoots forth several small blasts of energy at Neptune, in an attempt to get them through the massive water waves...
Ice Man runs to the front of the Shipwreck or the part nearest to Neptune, "How dare you hurt my Father! He was just talking to you!" he then jumps into the air and points his might at Neptune, "FREEEEEEEZE!"
Inside the Leviathan, Ordnance narrows his optics as data flashes across the screen. An engagement as begun on the surface. Adjusting his little white and blue, Donald Duck style, sailor's cap, he banks around underwater, turbines trailing bubbles. Angling the small, heavily armored mini-sub up, he readies a torpedo. Firing it from under the chassis, the green water-explosive cuts through the seas, actually posed to move around the entire wall of water and come up under Neptune.
The WilyDragon raises his head... the eyes narrowing... The voice of Wily speaking out. "Attack. I am fine." The voice of WilyDragon. "THE CHOICE IS MADE! OBLIVION!!" The WilyDragon roars it's rage as it spereads it's wings and springs free of KingDragon's grasp...
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "He didn't listen, Twila ... I can't let them all be killed by him."
Again the plumed waters erupt from the East as Swing 'runs' across the water in his static field bubble - only this time, he has a partner holding on to his hand after she had been set down.
Slash Man roars at Neptune when he attacks the WilyDragon. "You're going down for that, Fishface!" He should be scared witless now. Slash raises his wrists towards Neptune and fires off a pair of gel bombs, which should ignite on contact.
Twila Peterson hurries along with the android as she can. Perhaps this is a bit foolhardy on her part to most all, and halfway to her as well. But she can't shake the sense of dread that fills her if they go through with the attack either. Out of breath, she glances at the scene around her and gasps...pulling on the android's hand so that they're positioned so she can see what's going on, but not get dangerously close to those attacking...despite the horrible winds and the rains.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'I'm coming out of the sub momentarily. *heaved sigh* @#$& Neptune...'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'He had a choice and he made it, Zero. Live with it.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Indeed... And he will now feel the power of this world!'.
Swing reluctantly follows, keeping his field about both of them. He tries to keep them in a strategic zone - out of the way of the larger crafts and warriors.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Swing, you said you could generate a magnetic field should you have a capacitor?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Blizzard, it is to late.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Mayhaps not...'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'They might be able to make things easier still, Doc, if he's doing what I think he is.'.
The fan in the back spinning with the great roar of its turbines, the Whale Sub 3 turns to lock its targeting systems on Neptune. From two ports down near the bottom, bubbles begin to spew forth as two little torpedoes, looking identical to Dive Missiles, shoot forth... Rising quickly to the surface, they speed forward and impact against Neptune's scaly armor... A great explosion of water is the result, splashing out at Neptune's feet as if he himself had commanded it.
Twila Peterson keeps a strong hold on one of the android's hands as the come to a stop. A worried glance is tossed towards the android as she takes a deep breath.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Neptune, you don't have to do this."
Enker pages: Talking to the wrong god-like being, Miss Peterson. I'm all for peace myself, but orders are orders, and so long as Wily wants to fight, we fight.
Skull Shuttle roars onto the scene, cutting low over the water surface and swinging about to orbit around the battle scene once, as if getting a feel for the situation before diving right in so to speak. It isn't long however before the ship sets into a hovering state, kicking up miniature whirlpools in it's wake, and the side door opens up. A certain ebony clad figure appears in the open hatch, glaring down to the scene of the conflict below, face set into a scowl as he grips the edge of the hatch itself tightly. Bass has arrived.
Swing's widen as his sensors crackle with information, and his grip tightens on his nightstick.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Swing?'.
(Ch. E []) Swing transmits: 'Yeah, I could lend the charge. We'd still need a medium - something big and metallic - to project the field.'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: '..............'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'Alright, people. I'm on-scene.'.
You whisper 'Please, Swing...hold off a little while longer.' to Swing.
Swing offers a nod to Twila, showing her his loyalties to her plan.
Zero leaps from the Sub, his body landing heavily upon the top of the Sub. He remains in a knelt position per touchdown, eyes scanning over the scene that he's just now catching a glimpse of. A snarl curls his lips as he shakes his head, fist clenching while the other hand supports his weight on the Whale Sub. He seems content to just watch for a moment, wondering how everyone is faring before he consents to making his own move. As he does, he snaps off a radio transmission.
Neptune is hit on multiple sides, some effective...most not too. He lets out a bellow of rage, mostly at the Leviathan and, surprisingly, Norman Cassidy. Centering his rage on the nearest convenient target, which is the unfortunate Ice Man, the Stardroid raises his trident and swings it down in a deadly arc, its length pulsing with a radiant glow. He ignores the ineffectual Whale Sub's torpedoes, though a flicker dances across his optics as he receives a certain transmission the moment his trident completes its arc.
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "If I'm forced to act, Twila ... I'm sorry."
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'I'll be certain to play a fanfare for you.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'We love you, Zero. Rah rah rah.'.
(Ch. E [SpecOps]) Anthem transmits: 'Enker! I've got an idea - move that sub around to behind this big wreck!'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Gravity Man, Needle Man, please work with Swing. We need a gigantic compass composed of some needles. Gravity Man should suspend them over the water and Swing, charge them up as best you...Anyone with electrical abilities, please aid this effort...We might be able to stun Neptune long enough to open all out fire upon him.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'It's nice to know you care, little brother. How about we go out for a shake later? Heh, anyway. I'm currently atop this mobile fish, if anybody needs to find me.'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Zero: "Zero, please, hold back."
Ice Man is blown to the back of the Shipwreck. He stays there.......then after a moment he stands up furious. It's all Cut Man's fault! He stays there for awhile and await to strike again, as the last person.....(Once everybody has gone this round tell me so I can go last.)
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "I will for now...But like I said, I just can't let them all get slaughtered."
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Do you require backup?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ward Gargoyle transmits: 'If required, my Thunderbolt Scimitars can generate an ample static electrical feed.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Needle Man transmits: 'Fine. I shall muster as much ammunition as I can. However, I require transport to the scene.'.
Norman Cassidy continues to freefall. He hits a button his watch and the hoverboard makes a sharp turn and starts to move quickly below him. Before he lands though, he takes careful aim at Neptune and quickdraws his two pistols, firing rapidly. The clips empty out and he lands, securing himself to the board and burning ozone to get behind some cover.
Chi seems unfazed by his attacks missing. He stops for a moment to check his footing on the ancient ship, worried it may collapse. He turns back to Neptune, and starts to open his mouth for some reason, but quickly closes it instead. Instead, drawing on the current energy within his Masamune, he shoots forth a single thin, coherent beam instead of several small ones, trying to aim for one of Neptune's arms.
Much as he can't help but think a plan developed by a Repliforcer isn't quite up to the same standards of intelligence as a plan devised by, say, a three-month dead squirrel. Enker grabs the controls of the Whale Sub III from within and moves its great flipper rudder in the rear. He heads it at top speed over to Anthem's location, and behind it, where it gets in line with the boat... Preparing for the next move, though all this isn't quite instantaneous mind you...
Maverick Ride Armor <Leviathan> wheels around again underwater, observing surface activity. Moving about for another attack, an arm points up at Neptune, charging, then releasing a burst of highly concentrated sonic energy. Vibrating itself quickly through the depths, it bursts out of the water, again trying to strike at the troublesome Stardroid.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Who here has a very large sword or axe and can transport themselves to the scene of a battle with Neptune in the Pacific?'. Maverick Ride Armor <Leviathan> strikes Neptune with its Sonic Blast attack.
Ash Coyote sends a radio transmission to Neptune. Neptune receives a radio transmission.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Neptune, here on Earth your namesake was listed as a protector...as well as looked on for navigation. Directions change just as the winds and the tides. So can you!"
Sigma is floating a few hundred feet away from the combat, and a few dozen feet above it. He observes the battle, mentally picking it apart and reconstructing the Stardroid's tactics and methods in his mind. It may prove useful for future confrontations, "A pity. So much power. So little vision."
Ice Man decides to not go last and drags himself out from behind the Shipwreck to make this his last attack for the battle. How short lived. He jumps into the air and let's out his devastating, and most powerful attack.....The Ice Slasher! Dum-de-dum!
Zero arches a brow as he glances over at Jewel, wondering just 'what' she's doing. He's not going to say anything for now, but whatever can be done should be. He's not gonna object. Thus, for now, he just resumes watching the battle. He has full intentions of holding off as long as he can. After all, water combat is 'not' what he was designed for.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'The largest weapon we can muster...Heavy and metallic...'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Very metallic...I think we can magnetize Neptune into temporary submission then unleash everything we've got upon him.'. Needle Man, stay wherever you are then.'.
Bass frowns further as he continues to stare down, and without further hesitation, he leaps free from the shuttle itself, momentarily entering freefall, arms kept at his sides for extra stability. Within seconds, he sets down on the other side of the whale sub with an audible *CLANK* of metal boots meeting metal hull. He glares down in Zero's direction, eyes narrowed to mere slits, as he straightens then. Still, attention is brought back towards Neptune once more...as he's got to pay attention to the task at hand after all. There'll be time to deal with hair-boy later.
Anthem continues to stand at the base of the great dead ship's prow, weaponfire going off all around. The sweeping trident flashes past above her head, striking Ice Man. The ex-cop flinches, but stands her ground. .oO(Better make these count. That toothpick'll hurt.)Oo. The rocket in her cannon-arm, already prepared and armed, launches off into the sky. It's spiraling contrail disperses in the high winds, but the silver-red explosive manages to hold a somewhat steady course as it flies.
Ash Coyote keeps his head down, not noticing the Droid it seems, but he tries to draw the Droid's fire, by giving him a vent for his anger.. a martyr it seems
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Pacific Ocean...Near...*ERWIN interjects coordinates*...'.
Swing looks over at Twila, watching her communicate with Neptune. At the same time, he winces, then flicks the overcharge switch on his internal battery.
Slash Man growls as Neptune doesn't seem to notice his fire bombs. Fine, just switch types. He hops down to the deck of the ship to get closer to his target and fires a gel bomb at him.
The two Dragons seem to confer silently between one another... a mutual nod is given...then...they spread there wings...and dive...moving low across the water as one... King and Wily Dragons moving in almost complete tandom...There eyes narrow apon there target...narrowing their eyes as their mouths open wide as they begin to rise up though the air... looking for all the world like something out of Legend themselves...Dragons in Flight. Something also begins to happen... both gaping maws...begin to glow... red and brighter still...a twin roar erupts from their throats as they move at the Sea Lord Stardroid... and still in perfect unison... Dragon and Atomic Fire erupt from both open maws. Such as this has never been seen for nearly a thousand years... The flame form two spinning columns as they move straight at the Sea Lord!!
Zero glances aside and rises to full height, "Well, hello there Bass. What brings you to my neck of the sea?" He smirks and glances back to the battle, snorting as he folds his arms, "I just love how I'm stuck on this thing right now. Not much I can do." He once more shifts his attention to the Ebony one beside him and motions with a jerk of his head, "Why aren't you out there? You've got the capabilities."
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'I recommend and alternation of strategy. He's not easing up.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ordnance Gopher transmits: 'He'll be diverting to engage me underwater soon, by my best guess, SIR!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Cut Man transmits: 'Yeah! Let's make it so that he can kill us while he waste out time!'.
Twila Peterson tightens her grip on Swing's hand further as the attack continues. Why must fighting be the one option that almost everyone chooses first?
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Engagement underwater is not advisable. Do not attempt to fight the Stardroid in his element. Rather attempt to separate him from what gives him strength.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'I can't do a blasted thing while I'm stuck on this fish. I could utilize my cannon, but I don't know how well it'd do from here.'.
"What's the matter Zero?" Bass grunts, as he steps towards the edge of the Whale Sub's form, tilting his right arm up. Hand slides within, and the chromed edge of his neo-buster is left in it's wake, beginning to charge with power.
"Feeling a little...inadequate for once? And here I thought that you were always supposed to be capable of handling any situation...at any time."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Neptune is mythologically a navigator, so, if we create a giant compass and charge it magnetically, we could theoretically confuse his navigationalism and thusly stun him for several seconds...Not long I agree, but a join effort could defeat him or seriously wound him.'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'No...the Stardroids are not linked to the myths, do not rely on them.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'However, it is still more than worth the effort.'.
Zero sneers over at Bass, "I am, 'little brother', but I'm holding back out of respect for Twila. She's trying something right now and I gave my word." He shakes his head and focuses on the Neptune battle, "I'll consent and join into the fray once I receive word from her. Heh, I'm pretty sure that you don't give a damn about that, though, so go have yourself a ball." His hair is blown back momentarily by the sea breeze as he closes his eyes. It's all that he can do now 'not' to attack. He knows they're not faring too well out there.
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "How's it going over there, Twila?"
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Or it could be what represents one of the things Earth is being judged for. Right now for instance. Navigation means a change in direction! His mind could be changed. There's no need for fighting. Isn't that what everyone immediately chooses?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ordnance Gopher transmits: 'Just following orders!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'I gave him his chance!'.
Robot Master Troop Transport <Symphony> says, "s engines bellow out a tremendous roar as it converges upon the gathering of units in the distances. Wave lash at its thick sides while it pushes westward, and the two units inside, King and Enforcer Malamute, press forwards with it."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'As even if it does not work precisely, the magnetic pulse, if correctly positioned and aimed, we can easily...*absolute silence*...THAT'S IT!'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Utilize forcefields to seperate him from the water. Then concentrate your firepower..'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Zero: "Working on it."
Neptune endures the various attacks stoically, a few causing some serious armor damage. As his radio crackles with Ash Coyote's transmission, the Stardroid snarls and whirls around, causing a massive wall of water to form behind him. Fortunately, this intercepts the fire blasts from the dragons. If he notices the Eclipse illusion he doesn't seem to care. His arm cannon begins to charge again as he peers down at Ash Coyote. "Ye may serve as an example to these other fools... ye may have defeated Venus, but ye may find me not so easy a target." That said, he unleashes an unholy blast from his cannon, the energy and water pressure behind the blast enough to destroy a fleet of ships. Yet, behind his stern visage... a waver of doubt begins to show.
(Ch. E [None]) Ordnance Gopher transmits: 'The forces that command us are Wily, Bass, and Rock! You have no rank, Twila! Tough cookies!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: '...I do not mean to seem insubordinate, but after we show Neptune we are serious, Doctor, should we offer a second chance to resolve this without destruction?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Ordnance Gopher transmits: 'And, of course, esteemed General Sigma!'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Twila has a point...And good reason to consider what she said. Hrm.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'We need to fire any magnetic pulse possible on him. Lord Wily, if we stun him for a few moments, could you reprogram him or feed him a secondary program of some sort?'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'We were not the first to strike, Miss Peterson. I am sure there are those among us who would argue to try for peace even while bombs drop on their heads.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Possibly. As I said... To much time to implement. Now... BELAY THIS COM CHATTER!'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Neptune, you'll end up getting destroyed if you continue in like this. Just like--- <sudden realization> ---us..."
(Ch. E [None]) Ward Gargoyle transmits: '*tired sigh* I'll repeat this once more in case radio chatter has obscured my previous message. My Thunderbolt Scimitars are capable of generating an electrically charged output, as well of being composed of metal. Repeat, the weapons can generate an electrical charge and are composed of metal. Over.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Well... Use them, Ward!'.
Ash Coyote drops to his knees, his forcefeild buckling under the blast... but somehow he manages to stay in one peice... He stands back up and smiles.. his right arm hanging uselessly, "Is that the best you can do?"
Whale Sub III throws everything into the rear boost, finally lined up perfectly and at full power...Sending Anthem and her shipreck straight at the Stardroid...Moby Dick, here we come... And should the move fail to be successful, at least that's one less bothersome Repliforcer in the world. Chi notices the attack at Ash Coyote striking forcefully. He runs toward Ash, trying to get in front of him and serve as a sort of Reploid Shield, so to speak. He turns to face Ash for a moment and asks "You are not heavily damaged, I take it?"
Maverick Ride Armor <Leviathan> once again turns around underwater, but this time, doesn't stop as it rushes towards the Stardroid above. Bursting from the water, it comes back down with a heavy splash, a short distance from Neptune. Rearing its arm back, a three-pronged, sharp claw beginning to move to attack Neptune...Then the sub and Anthem's shipwreck slam into it. "@#$&!"
Robot Master Troop Transport <Symphony> continues to chur forth, the mighty turbine engines in the southern length of the ship spewing gouts of water high and mighty. Driving forwards, a few claxons can be deciphered, and the front most portion of the ship lowers it's bulk, allowing those inside direct view of the happenings out, and vice versa.
Maverick Ride Armor <Leviathan> turns and sputters back off into the water, jerkily.
You whisper 'Neptune represents what will happen if we don't change...I think...or something else...persistance?' to Swing.
Bass arches an eyebrow, tilting his head back in Zero's direction, as he narrows his gaze. Still...even then he gives a cruel smirk. "You know, times like this I'm only further gladdened that I don't suffer from -your- weakness Zero. No wonder you were a failure in your own right..." He chuckles then, and raises his right arm, building a charge that gathers power...then unleashes in a bright discharge, hurtling away an energy ball that crackles and evaporates the very ocean surface underneath it's wake. He scowls though as a second one shows up....SOMEONE is apparently playing games around here. Well? What is there to do...other than aim for one of them.
"You know...it must truly @#$& to be....eh?" He then blinks and glances down at the whale sub that he's currently standing on, noting the new 'course' it's taking. "What? ENKER!? What are you doing!?"
Swing whispers: 'He's buckling under the pressure, but he'll take a score of us down with him.'.
You whisper 'And what happens when people so suddenly rush for the gun? I'm not sure what happened here but if I know Wily he didn't even try to change Neptune's mind where it most counted!' to Swing.
King unlatches the various straps holding him to the helm of the Symphony, and snatching his mighty axe from a bearing upon a vertical surface with it's bowels, he strides down the exit ramp with pride and a gleaming light in his optics. Glancing over his shoulder to see if Enforcer is at his side, he turns to view before him, snarling, as the ship hovers and bobs and whathaveyou in the water.
Swing whispers: 'What did Neptune have to say? Did he even get a chance to respond to you?'.
The two dragons soar past Neptune, cutting of their fire attacks and start arcing back around one going to the left one to the right. At the moment they are inline with each other and flying away from each other they both Cobra roll up and back toward the mighty star droid of the sea, this time both getting ready yet another breath attack, King's mouth glows with a bright blue though this time, and WilyDragon's with the same intense bright orange as before. The two both fire off their attacks and roll to one side each one passing by neptune as their attacks hopefully meet on his sides, and as the two pass each other they are barely 10 feet apart.
Anthem is *still* standing right on the prow of the ship as the Whale Sub starts pushing it forward with a jolt. If you've seen enough Jaws movies, you know what's happening now. The Repliforcer laughs as the ancient ship rushes foward, heading straight for--. Still, Anthem laughs as the shipwreck rushes forth, aiming to spear Neptune. "CHAAAAAAARRRRGEE!" My, she's getting a tad caught up in this.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "If you keep fighting the others will gain your key regardless. And the ocean you love so dear will suffer for it. No one ultimately wins. There's another way."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I think so...Though I leave the final decision up to Lord Wily, Bass, Sigma, and Zero.' Blizzard Man transmits: 'Personally, I'd implement as quickly as possible...Even if it means wasting a bit of time...It could mean the difference between judgments.'.
Zero glares over at Bass and rolls his eyes, "Call it whatever the @#$& you want, Bass." It's then that the sub jerks and he blinks, moving to steady himself as the motion first begins, "....?!" He looks around and whirls his gaze to Bass, "What's he doing? Trying to get us killed?!" Bah, it figures that he'd choose to stay on top of the sub and then Enker would use it as some sort of ram, or whatever he may be doin exactly. He still doesn't attack, but concentrates on keeping himself on top of it, "Well, Bass, you got a plan in case their apparent plan fails?"
A smirk plays upon his features as his hair is blown aside by the air of travel, "Sorry to say, but your mug is 'not' the last thing that I'd care to see before I die."
You whisper 'No response. But, you stated he may be buckling. Swing, it may be more than the weaponry that is buckling him. The tides and the winds change. Decisions can change. Life can change. And *this*...there's a possibility this can change.' to Swing.
Enforcer Malamute emerges behind King, in full combat armor. He looks out at the scene, then over at King, "Shall we assist them, or hang back till given the word to attack?"
Swing nods at Twila's words, watching the salvos of firepower being unloaded on the Stardroid. "We need stop this..." he blinks, watching the attacks, turning back to Twila. "Or we only delay the inevitable."
Twila Peterson dips her chin in agreement and swallows. "They won't listen to me over the Alliance channel..." she states sadly.
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "Is he listening to you, Twi?"
(Ch. E [None]) Clay transmits: 'Current position underneath coordinates of altercation with Stardroid. Am refraining from engaging battle; will remain stationary instead to recover fallen comrades.'.
"Why that spikey helmeted little..." Bass growls, taking a step back, one hand moving out to touch the conning tower itself, as if for stability as the sub chug chugs it's way for an impression of a demolition derby. "Oh I don't know what YOU plan to do Zero. You can roll over and die here for all I care..."
*SHRAKT!*
With that, his right arm ignites into a shimmering energy blade, as he dash jets to the side of the ship itself, and jams the sword into the side of the armor. Not anything to cause a catastrophic leak within...but enough to anchor -him- securely. "...but I have other plans!" With arm held in place, he then leaps off the side of the sub, literally being dragged along underwater. Good thing he's waterproof. And at least he won't be up on deck when the collision occurs!
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Zero: "I don't know. Swing says he seems to be buckling to him. Only hoping it's more than the firepower that's doing so."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Hello? Lord Wily, Commander Bass? Sigma?' Zero?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Cut Man transmits: 'O, you know he's desperate.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'Oh, pardon me, I'm currently on top of a battering ram! What'd I miss?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Centaur Man transmits: 'Where is the blasted cable uplink... Blizzard, do we even -have- cable?'.
Blizzard Man sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "You have an excellent idea. I think we should work on this."
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: '*blub* I'm rather *gurgle* occupied you idiot.'.
Neptune looks up with a snarl as Bass descends like some idiot angel fallen from the top of a Christmas tree. As the Neo-Buster blast careens towards him, the Stardroid deflects the blast with the length of his trident, seeming to absorb its energy. However, as the two dragons attack, Neptune deftly swims away from the WilyDragon's blast, only to be blasted by King Dragon. With a bellow of pain, the Stardroid submerges beneath the surface, thereby avoiding the charging ship. As the ripples die, and the waters become calm once more... it appears that perhaps Neptune has departed.
Or not... With the skill of a shark emerging for its kill, Neptune leaps out of the water near Cut Man and tries to latch onto the Master, a green glow surrounding him. As he leaps for Cut Man, Neptune roars, "Ye already defiled my seas with yer pollution and pillaging....now ye dare to dictate to me about what be best for it!?"
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Blizzard Man: "Radio Neptune...try to convince him to change his mind. If he stated no at first before this all started, that might be how this can be stopped."
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I'm wondering if you all support my idea of magnetically disturbing Neptune's internals and then inserting a new program in order to persuade him to our side.'.
Sigma continues to watch on, the hurricane howling about him. He remains calm and static, the oceans shifting like a dark void beneath him. "Your presence on Earth has taught us a valuable lesson, Stardroid. About balance. About order. About chaos. But, like the humans, your time has passed. I thank you for what you have done, but you still must acknowledge..." bellows the messiah, his voice strong enough to carry over the storm. Sigma draws his unignited sabre. He can feel Neptune's power from his current location, but he must face worse if it his destiny to confront Duo. For his people, for his world. The Maverick commander ignites his weapon.
* ZZZZZZZZIIIIIINNNNNNG *
Without another moment's hesitation Sigma teleports. His body vanishes for a split second.. reappearing directly in front of Neptune. The savior now hovers before the eye of the storm itself. Toe to toe, mouth to mouth, eye to eye, with one of the most powerful beings Earth has ever encountered. The Sigma Sabre raises high in the air, its destructive energy elongating, lancing into the sky. The Maverick stands in the classic Epyon pose, obscenely large energy blade held over his head, "You're no longer needed here!" cries Sigma, brining the blade down. However the target is not Neptune, but his trident. The bald reploid's intent is now clear, to rob the Stardroid of his chief weapon. Lancing dances around the sabre as it comes in contact with the celestial three-pointed spear. Which weapon will prevail. That of Neptune, who commands the mighty seas. Or Sigma, who may yet command something even stronger.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Zero: "Radio Neptune...try to convince him to change his mind. If he stated no at first before this all started, that might be how this can be stopped. Zero, he's showing us what will happen to *us* if we continue on a path of destruction...if we don't change as a whole. There's another way."
You whisper 'Swing...begin radioing Neptune, plead him to change his mind.' to Swing.
Chi blinks as Ash vanishes into the seas below, but is pretty sure someone else will handle it as he makes a quick radio message. Then he turns to Neptune, calling out, "We are not backing down on the matter. This need not end in any further destruction! Will you talk with us?" He makes no attack, and his stance shifts from one of being poised to strike, of being one to try and merely protect himself.
Zero looks up from his position, lowering himself into a kneel so that he can properly keep himself on top of the sub for the moment. He listens to Twila, a sigh heaving his frame as he shifts his gaze toward Neptune, "Odd, though it may be, for me to speak using my mouth rather than my saber or cannon." He snorts a little, rather 'blood' deprived in general from his lack of combat through what he has deemed the more intelligent path lately. Thus, in response to a request, he snaps off a transmission.
Cut Man has time to scream as he sees the StarDroid latch onto him, "This could be a bad thing" as the green energy starts the Robot Master just ponders "I knew I was gonna die sometime... And look at me go!" When Neptune lets go the god of bad luck starts to slump to the ground, "Wee*THUMP*" his face enbeds it's in the ground.
King Dragon smiles just a little, glad something of his managed to hit the watery Stardroid, he veers back around again and on his fly by this time he hold a massive claw out trying to smash it into the Stardroid.
King secures his footing as he takes a few more paces to the last of the declination ramp, his crimson optics narrowing. His cobalt cape whips wildly about him as the winds of the storm scour the Symphony, and he holds a hand aloft to brace the whiplashing tendrils of invisible air. "Enforcer", he bellows.
Skull Shuttle zips around the fringe of the fight...retrieving bodies, one by one, as quickly as possible.
Crash Man pops out of the WilyDragon, just to see Cut Man get wasted. He pauses, and points at Cut Man. "Hah, loser." The Red Bomber goes off on his merry way, onto the Skull Shuttle!
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Blizzard Man: "Anyone who might listen to you...get them to stop fighting and radio as well!"
Maverick Ride Armor <Leviathan> bursts out of the waves again, near Neptune. As Sigma occupies him from in front, the ride armor comes from behind. If anyone messes him up this time, they're getting a torpedo to the face. His three-pronged claw opens once more, trying to grab Neptune by the leg and rend the leg off. Or jerk his body around like a chew-toy.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "The circle of life doesn't have to be broken!"
"BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahaha?" Anthem blinkblinks, as her cunning plan totally backfires, the wrecked ship completely missing Neptune. Hands on her hips in annoyance, she quips, "Well, that was a complete let-down. Turning around again, she grumbles at the Stardroid now *behind* the ship. "Alright, this isn't working. New plan..." She glances over, spotting Slash Man nearby. "You! Wilybot!" Her dash jets ignite, getting her down to the stern in only a few moments. Dropping onto one knee, she forms a little 'basket' with her arms. "Fastball Special!"
Blizzard Man sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "I would, but ERWIN is doing his annoyance thing with us..."
Suddenly within the Whale Sub III, an array of loud and mostly red alarms start going off as something penetrates somewhat deep into the hull... Not punctured, but wounded. The Elite doesn't seem particularly worried, if perhaps minorly annoyed... Diving down into the deep blue, he launches yet another amazingly not-powerful attack, a pair of long sea snake drones swimming out from the torpedo tubes... Each one curls around Neptune's legs, to keep him from going anywhere, despite the fact that he probably doesn't intend to go anywhere, and most likely has the strength to snap the sea-snake drones like twine if he does.
The WilyDragon soars though the air as he parts course now from the Unified attack of King Dragon. The head turns to see Sigma sweep his saber though the Trident of the Stardroid! A Triumphant ROAR fills the air as he soars though it, delivering a barrel roll as his eyes glow brightly. The Wrath of Wily is upon him...with his Prime Weapon down... he shall not survive this...the eyes flair brighter still untill two wide, blasts of energy fly straight at the Triton-less Stardroid!
Clawing his way outside of the Whale Sub, Ward Gargoyle's Thunderbolts, slap heavily against his armored thighs while his face is set with a grim determination. Using a hand over hand technique, aided by his bladed foreclaws, Ward Gargoyle literally plows his way up and over the submarine, occasionally pausing to gain his bearings while the violent waters crash into him. Long, tiring moments pass for the reploid as he nears the upper level of Wily's creation, his wings flexing once as he vaults himself into the violent air, body crashing heavily into the wooden craft spaced between the Whale Sub and Neptune. It takes another moment for the Arbitrator to reach his legs, but upon finding them, his Thunderbolts leap into his hands with the speed of a lightning strike. Ward narrows his eyes at Neptune, a sadness touching his eyes at the horrendous destruction caused by the lone being. This scars Ward's ego far worse than the encounter with Venus. Wordlessly, the Repliforcer smashes the hilts of his Thunderbolts together, a radiant blast of EMP flying forth at the Stardroid.
Slash Man is infuriated now. He's dealt with Neptune before. "Softie." The feral Master's claws glimmering in what light may be available. A rumble forms in the back of his throat and his claws glaze over with energy. As the rumble spreads, so does the energy up his arms and over his shoulders. The rumble turns into a low growl as a red glow engulfs his legs. Soon his entire body is flashing red and quaking with vicious energy. Then he releases the power in a swift charge, thrusting his claws forward at Neptune. "RAH!"
Bass of course still holds onto the Whale Sub's form, even as it goes right under the water in the process. So for the moment, he's directly removed from the main scene of chaos up above. Gee, other than all the bubbles around here and the obvious sounds of turbulence under the waves...it's surprisingly peaceful.
Still adhered to the whale sub like a remora following a tiger shark, Bass finally decides he's had enough of a piggyback ride for now. While he may not be built for traversing ocean surfaces like a watercraft, or as well as some of the aquatic Masters can, he can still swim much like a human for short distances. And with a quick jerk of his arm, he wrenches his blade free, sending a torrent of superheated bubbles to the surface. Kicking away from the underwater craft and vowing some sort of retribution on Enker later, he strokes for the surface once more, and breaks the ocean top ironically right -next- to where Twila and Swing are floating in their protective field. Water streaming down his helmet, he grunts and spits out a generous mouthful of salt water, before grumbling aloud. "This isn't my day."
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "You stated on the shore that the circle of life may end but it can begin and renewed at a cost. A sacrifice."
Twila Peterson sends off another transmissions and jumps as a certain individual comes to the surface. She blinkblinks in a stare and closes her mouth. looking down on him. "Bass?"
Swing tenses slightly at Bass crashes into the water. Looking down at the fallen Master, he looks back at Twila. "Can he swim?" he asks, curious if the ultimate warrior could be hydro-inept.
King glances side long to Enforcer, and motions out before them to the battle at hand. The tempest grows and it takes a bit of effort to stand upon the brim of the Symphony's exit deck. "Watch and gain intelligence. This one is just as stubborn and Venus, and I'll not be surprised if he shares his same fate." He smiles, well pleased, and tenses his digits about the Executioner. "Another key shall be had soon, I'm sure of it."
Skull Shuttle skims around the fight, working it's way over to where Bass, Swing, and Twila are. Finally, on one of the external speakers, Plant Man's voice can be heard. "Anybody want a pickup out of the water?"
Swing seems to sit comfortably in an almost invisible field of static electricity, which also seems to support Twila as she holds her hand. He looks up at the Shuttle, then back down at the sputtering Bass, choosing his words carefully. "I think he means you, mate."
Neptune latches onto Cut Man and siphons away the Master's energy until the form goes limp in his grasp. As he lets Cut Man drop like a gutted fish, Sigma pulls his little maneuver, earning a shout of surprise and rage from Neptune. "IDIOT!" The trident remains intact, impervious to damage by earthly weapons, but goes spinning off where it splashes into the seas and sinks from view. The water droid makes a move towards Sigma, but as the Maverick armor and the sub grab at his legs, he half-turns towards them, trying to ignore Twila and the Hunters as they radio him. Nevertheless, he grabs at the Whale Sub and gives a great YANK. Showing some unnatural strength, the Stardroid actually hefts the huge sub above him and hurls it at the Maverick leader. "Here be my answer to ye, landlubbing fool!"
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Thank Wily...We have a video link established. Examining situation now...'.
Twila Peterson winces as Neptune presses on. Her gaze snaps back up towards the shuttle and all she can shout is, "Call off the attack!"
"How wonderful..." Bass growls, sarcastic edge in his tone in response to Twila. "You know me on sight. Very good. What's next? Addition and subtraction?" Without even blinking an eyelash he switches to answer Swing's question as well. "Of COURSE I can swim you idiot. I may not be built like a boat but I can kick my legs!" At Plant Man's announcement over the external speakers, he merely glares up and gives a wave of one arm, hand wide open to gesture for a line to be lowered.
Ah yes, then out of the corner of his eye he happens to see Neptune making...use of that whale sub once more. "Oh how utterly fitting..." he grunts. "...I hope Enker forgot to fasten his seatbelt."
Inside Leviathan, Ordnance grunts as the pilot's seat as the sub smashes into him as a side effect, sinking down, then bobbing back up. "We've sprung a leak!" Ordnance screams to nobody in particular, beginning to head off back to shore, pressing through the heavy hurricane waters.
A line lowers into the water for Bass, as an external speaker pipes up again. "What about you two, hmmmm? What /did/ he intend to do wit that maneuver?" The last bit is muttered...and apparently, wasn't intended to be picked up by the mic for the external speaker.
Norman Cassidy winces, then hears Twila over the roaring winds..."What the @#$&?" He just stares at her and Swing, then hoverboards his way down to them, "Need a lift? To ANYWHERE?" He asks solemnly. Then he circles about, just above the water...He continues to watch Neptune warily.
Chi oddly does not seem deterred by what happened, and oddly still continues his speaking. "This has gone far enough. There need be no further damage to any of us." He looks at Neptune directly, "I will offer one final chance, talk this over with us. You worry for the oceans? Dying will not accomplish your agenda!" Rather eloquent from the big minotaur Reploid, no? hoverboard has left.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'The Stardroid has been disarmed *SMACK* *OOOOMF*'.
Zero happens to look over about the time that Bass emerges from the ocean. He blinks once, twice and coughs. His head shakes and he blinks again, something tugging at the corners of his mouth. A moment later, without restraint, a loud laughter can be heard from the Whale Sub. Zero has retained his position atop it, but he's now having a laughing fit at the sight. "Well, well, well! The legendary 'Dark Knight' doesn't like to play in the water!" He tries to silence himself now, still chuckling as he looks over at Neptune and the battle.
Of course, it would figure that his ride suddenly finds itself soaring through the air. The berserker slides down it a good bit, eyes wide as he clings at its surface. @#$&, no holds! Sneering, he unleashes his saber with one hand, using it to stab into the sub and hold on for dear life while bracing himself. When it gets near enough to land, he tears the humming blade free in a shower of sparks and energy while kicking off.
"BANZAI!!!" bellows Zero as he hurtles through the air and comes crashing onto the beach in a rolling slide. He doesn't just lay there, though, but uses the momentum to kick himself up into the air and onto his feet. The down side? He's covered from head to toe in sand, "...This is /not/ my night."
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Well now I bet that woke him up.'.
King glances to Enforcer once more, in complete awe over witnessing the Whale Sub being hurtled like it was a rag doll, and into the Maverick Messiah no less. "..did that just..?"
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Is Sigma okay? Or was that the distinct sound of squished Maverick?'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'That had to hurt...'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I hope he is...He just got hit with a sub.'. (Ch. E []) Zero transmits: '*cough* I should've followed Bass... *pause* I think. What's better? A ton of sand or a ton of water in your armor?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Crash Man transmits: 'Water. Sand'll just wear down yer servos.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'Great.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I must concur.'.
(Ch. E [SpecOps]) Anthem transmits: 'I don't think this is working....'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: 'And he speaks from experience, unfortunately.'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: '...Plant Man, pick up the Whale Sub III. There seem to be either a Zero or Sigma induced leak. Reminder to those allies not built by Wily, you should preferably be attacking the enemy.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'I believe we should now institute my plan...Yes?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Oh to @#$& with the submarine Enker. Utilize it and smash it down Neptune's throat. We have plenty more.'.
Sigma is smacked rather heavily by the sub. The impact is a bit muted by the force of the storm and Sigma's own protective aura, but it's still a pretty honkin' big bludgeon. The Maverick loses all control or sense of direction, the water closing, dark as sin, around him. He sinks, deeper and deeper, unable to recover from the shock just yet. As he spirals hopelessly Sigma takes a moment to reflect on the inherent beauty contained by the dark ocean, he has little else to do. .oO( This is indeed something work protecting.)Oo.
Bass grabs onto the line that's lowered for him, wrapping it around his wrist as it yanks him into the air once more. Ahhhh, now this is better. High and dry...well relatively high at least. The dry bit will come once he gets in out of this HURRICANE!
Still holding on with one hand, he shifts his free arm about, again bringing it into his buster form all over. "Isn't this a new perspective on combat altogether? I'll have to take notes afterwards..." He snorts, before unleashing a bright ball of plasma energy that tears away and streaks towards its target.
*WHOOM!*
Ward Gargoyle breaks into a dash immediately after his burst of EMP flies forth, paying little notice to whether or not the attempted blow actually landed, but instead trying to find a way for him to make better use of his Thunderbolts, considering the inclement conditions. Skittering to a halt across the wooden craft, Ward Gargoyle stands awestruck as the Stardroid vaults submarine and ride armor into the sky. Such power. Shaking his head violently to clear his own myriad thoughts, Ward is left with little choice but to take to the sky in hopes of gaining a proximity with the Stardroid, his twin-housed shoulder gunpods firing as he attempts to fly through the intense winds.
(Ch. E [None]) Centaur Man transmits: 'I think I had better organize a fishing expedition...'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Neptune, I was told that all the Stardroids save Duet and Duo are from other worlds. Did your world survive its judgment?"
The WilyDragon soars around again...letting out another full-throated roar! The eyes survey the situation with dark calm as it turns on a wingtip... and begins to dive... It watches Neptune hurl the massive submarine at Sigma with a blink of astonishment... then a nod of firm resolve... the maw opens wide as he comes close... the teeth looking nothing more then a serrated beartrap. It flies closer and closer, the head snapping to the side and the mouth SNAPS shut, teeth closing for the Stardroid's scaled torso! Feel the wrath of WILY!
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Gravity Man, please work in conjunction with King. Suspend the axe in midair, preferably pointing north. Swing and anybody who can produce electrical power, run that through the axe...King, please inform me when maximum power has been achieved.'.
Skull Shuttle cranks Bass up . . . . and with a faint shake, heads over towards the beach where Zero is. Silently, it sends down a line for him, and then the external speaker pipes in again. "Both of you, into the cab, please. I'd like to check you both for damage."
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: '*Audio screen switching on* I'm fine. Mostly undamaged... merely sinking.'.
(Ch. E [None]) King transmits: 'Sounds like a plan, Blizzard Man! The Executioner shall be deployed when word has been given.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Need retrival Sigma my friend?'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Yes yes of course he needs retrieval!'.
From inside the Whale Sub III, Enker (who was in fact strapped in, thankyouverymuch) eyes the energy saber which has suddenly popped through, accompanied by the appropriate noise of tearing metal. At this point he unstraps himself, and heads on over to the hatch on top, popping out and hopping onto the nearest piece of floating debris...
Not one to run just when the going gets tough, Enker raises his Mirror Buster to the skies, a dull glow beginning to form around him... You all know what's coming.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Not from you, no. Eventually I will regain control. For now I can simply enjoy the beauty of the ocean.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Give my regards to the fish.'.
The top of the Skull Shuttle opens, and the familiar form of the Red Bomber appears climbing out. "Oof...that was a tight fit." He looks down, "Huh? Shut up, Plant Man. I'm not coming out of the closet like you do!" Crashbo casts his gaze out across the horrors of the battle-scene, watching people get nailed and how-not. For a moment, our heroic Robot Master reaches back, and tightens the bandanna around his head. "Hey, I watched Eek. It never hurts to help! Hahaha!" Slamming his right arm down against the hull of the Skull Shuttle, a diamond-tipped drill projectile fires. The drill-rocket spirals across the length of space between Crashbo, and the Stardroid. Can you dig it?
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Zero: "Zero, ask him about the world...if he lost his just like we're threatened to lose ours!"
You whisper 'Swing, ask him about the world where he came from? All Stardroids are from other world's save two. Some have lost their world's in judgment. Neptune may have been one!' to Swing.
King's golden boots dig into the deploy ramp of the Symphony, and he motions Enforcer back into the helm of such with a wave of his mighty axe. "The Whale Sub was tossed as if it were nothing. Prepare this transport for retreat if it goes the way of our submarine." With that, he holds out the mighty Executioner towards Neptune after getting word of the plan over the alliance channel, and he snorts.
Slash Man, not wasting time to grumble over his best attack missing, swings his claws wildly at Neptune. "I'm going to turn you into caviar!" he says with a snarl.
(Ch. E [None]) King transmits: 'Gravity Man, Swing?'.
Bass keeps a hold on the cable as it cranks him up slightly, though he shoots a glare in Zero's direction as he too is offered a pickup at the same time. "Belay that Plant Man!" he grunts, making sure he's still holding on tight. "You can do so when we're QUITE finished with this so-called king of the seas. Pick up our long-haired 'friend' here and swing us BOTH close to him. That is, unless Zero is -still- following that fleshling Peterson's 'orders' not to attack, hrm?" He sneers down at the scarlet reploid, as if seeking an answer.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Are to commence?'.
(Ch. E []) Swing transmits: 'Mechanical error. Standby.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'You fools! Stop trying to placate him! He has had his chance! Let him meet his Watery /GRAVE!/'.
(Ch. E [None]) King transmits: 'The Executioner is ready for deployment.'.
Anthem watches as Slash Man leaps and goes at it without her boost. "....Well. That tears it." She looks up at Neptune, considering. "Alright. He's not feeling any of this. The ship didn't work. What the *heck* is gonna stop this guy?"
(Ch. E [None]) King transmits: 'Gavin, retreive the Executioner from the sea if this happens to fail.'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "It was stated you Stardroids became as you are through cost and sacrifice. What was yours?"
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Lord Wily, this would appear to be the best strategem, it will stop him long enough to fire and/or reprogram him.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: '... Try it.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Reprogram? How utterly optimistic of you Blizzard Man. And unrealistic.'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'We cannot reprogram androids in a few minutes time, let alone Stardroids.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'At least it will give me a free shot...'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Perhaps not reprogram, but upload a secondary logic program...'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'And you don't lose anything by trying it.'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Reprogramming... *gurgle* impossible. Besides, it might interfere with the key.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'True...Halt plan, Blizzard!'.
Another roar echoes out across the expanse of the seas as Neptune is struck from all quarters. But amid the slashing limbs and flashing plasma blasts, his optics lock onto Twila Peterson with a heretofor unseen sadness, and while he doesn't reply to Twila or Swing or Zero or anyone else, his frenzy does begin to slow and the damage begins to show. He aims skyward for King Dragon and unleashes a barrage of torpedos, which don't seem to mind that they're flying through the air instead of water. He scowls again as the missiles fly, and his mouth forms a single word....'home.'
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'King, Gravity Man, Swing, please engage...Understood Sigma, taking into account...King, Gravity man, Swing belay that...'.
(Ch. E [None]) Crash Man transmits: 'I'll try ta smack the guy with a Flash Bomb.'.
Zero narrows his eyes as he watches Neptune from afar. He glances up and snaps off a transmission before stating toward Twila, "He's slowing down, Twila. Do you think he's listening?" His gaze falls back toward the Stardroid after he speaks, arms rising to fold.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Commence plan, belay shell program upload sequence. Everyone with electrical output devices, please utilize them.'.
Chi loses his patience with talking, and spins his Masamune overhead as he routes more energy to it. After a few moments, he lowers it back to chest level, and sends a very large beam of energy at Neptune, aiming for the midsection. "You choose your own fate, then..." Is all he says as he fires. Chi misses Neptune with his Charged Masamune attack.
King Dragon starts to soar down toward Neptune only to meet a barrage of torpedoes on the way down which send him spiraling into the ocean beside the Stardroid, the waters eventually go back to their regular pattern, and KD doesn't resurface for quite a while, where's he at? Maybe not known to anyone but the Dragon's tail splashes up out of the water and slices toward the Stardroid as the dragon keeps the rest of his body submerged
Swing looks back at Twila, then up at Zero. "That, or they're wearing down his resolve." he feels his battery pushing to full charge, potential moving towards his upper limits. "Home?" he echoes, his keen sense of hearing picking up the whispered words. "Maybe...." he offers. Perhaps it /is/ working.
Twila Peterson locks gazes with the Stardroid's, somewhat shaken at seeing some of what she's doing is having an effect. "Zero, please...keep trying!"
Skull Shuttle waits patiently above Zero, a response most eagerly request . . . it shifts position to give Bass a better angle at Neptune . . . which unfortunately sends the other cable swinging towards Zero.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "What happened to your world Neptune, was it destroyed like ours might be?"
Crash Man indescriminately pokes a few buttons on the side of his right blaster-arm. *blip, blip, blip* Another rocket loads in the null of space; the Red Bomber trying to aim for Neptune. Instead of firing, he pauses to stroke the 'tails' of his bandana for a moment. You know, for luck? Yeah. Crashbo loses his concentration for a moment. o.O (..So.. soft.. polyester..) The sounds of explosives going off suddenly awaken the daydreaming Robot Master, just in time for him to fire. "Huh? Oh! Right! The fight!" He fires, kablammo.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'Listen up, people! While all of you have been hammering at Neptune, Twila, Swing and I have been sending transmissions to him. I think they're getting through to him, so keep in mind that destruction may -not- be the answer no--*WHACK*'.
Crash Man finds he misses, too. "Cursed polyester! Why must you tempt me!?" Zero suddenly finds himself cracked by that cable and he blinks in surprise before knocking it aside, "Watch it up there!" roars Zero toward the Skull Shuttle.
Following in the wake of his barrage of slugs, Ward Gargoyle hits the air like a wayward angel. The storm caused by the Stardroid being all but impossible to fly. Still, Ward Gargoyle manages the flight. Locking his jaw firmly, the reploid works his Thunderbolts in a dazzling display of swordsmanship, several feints and thrusts driving at the Stardroid. Suddenly cutting his motions to a complete stop, Ward Gargoyle reverses his momentum violently as he aerial dashes at Neptune, both crackling Thunderbolts leading the way. The Repliforcer seeming intent upon driving his misbegotten weaponry into the Stardroid's bowels. Norman Cassidy floats around, trying to help..."Well?" He looks at Neptune..."Home? The planet you originated from?"
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Perhaps we are not killing them. These are beings with powers and talents far beyond our own. I don't think it's unrealistic to think that they cannot repair this amount of damage, or even reverse death itself.'.
Bass snorts once more, still holding onto the cable that Plant Man had lowered earlier. "Feh...plan? You want a plan? I've give you a plan!" With that, his form shifts colors all over, now a pure black slate with grey trimmings, his eyes switching pure black as well. With that, he lets go of the cable he was holding onto, entering freefall for a few split seconds. It's then that he spreads both arms out to the sides and bellows...
"Black...DRAGON...WAVE!"
With that, electricity crackles from his fingertips, moving down underneath him, and actually taking a solid form, growing in size until a monstrous dragon has taken shape under him once more. With a solid *THWACK* he lands on the beast's back, as it unleashes a scream of primal fury and rushes forward, actually darting over the water's surface and closing in on Neptune's form, in an attempt to crash forcefully into the Stardroid's body with it's crackling solid-electric body....Bass riding on it's back the whole time with one fist raised into the air. "Now let's HEAT THINGS UP!"
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'People...all the Stardroids save two became Stardroids through loss and sacrifice. They lost their worlds the same way we're threatened with losing ours. Remind him of that! He's remembering!!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Oh, by all means. I'll send him a sympathy card.'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Shuddup, Bass!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: '...she may have a point, Bass.'.
Crash Man finds he's nearly smacked Zero with his shot, "Hah hah hah," he snickers to himself. "..I'm the sidekick, and I love my job." The WilyDragon swoops back up on another arc...this Stardroid is getting all the more irritating by the moment... the Dragon lets out a roar of rage. He soars down at Neptune for yet another run. The wings flatten out perfectly...the edges suddenly sharpening down to the keenness of a scalpel blade. It swoops down low over the water and flies straight at Neptune... the Sharpened Wing coming at midlevel to him. The air itself sounding like it is being ripped in two by the passing sweep of the massive dragon. No sympathy for the Corrupter...no Pity... The Sea Lord will die like his counterpart Neptune. This...Wily...COMMANDS!
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Miss Peterson, are you suggesting that something has blocked his memory circuits?'.
Slash Man growls in fury as he slices Neptune. He decides he needs to get closer to thin armor for a good hit. Nevermind talking to him, Slash wants to tear him apart. The feral Master leaps up at Neptune's back with force.
Enker slowly collects power into his weapon from everything around him, the occasional turbulence of the wind and sees, explosions here and there, energy weapons crashing into debris and hissing against the water... Energy is neither created nor lost, and for the moment, anything that would have fizzled in vain instead fuels the Elite... Red, White, and Blue flash over his form, and his eyes remain cold and mechanical, the eyes of a machine... With the patience and calm of one standing alone in the Training Room, Enker lowers his weapon, throwing the power which surrounds his body into it... And then one swift cut upwards, the air crackling like lightning as it does so, the path of the energy is formed as it is released from the weapon... And then goes flying forward, straight at Neptune, unable to deviate, incapable of mercy.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'I don't know. But I was told not all of them remember where they came from once!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'This isn't working, Twila! We gave him his chance!!'.
(Ch. E []) Colonel transmits: ' Not neccessariy, Doctor.'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Well, if you lost your world to the Stardroids, are you going to help them afterwards destroy another world, if you remember how much it hurt to lose yours?'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'For once, Old Man, stop and realize that you might just be wrong for once. I'm watching him with my own eyes here!'.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Ever heard of a changed mind, Doctor? Your talking about a creature of the ocean!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: '...Sir. I think they're right.'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Wily I must agree with them, Order a cease fire and let him have one more chance'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Lord Wily, I believe Miss Peterson might be on to something. We need to magnetize his circuits for a few moments...It might be enough to deflect the memory blockage and perhaps change the course his mind has taken...'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Let me inform you of something. In case you have all forgotten. I don't give a hoot if he came from the happy land of care bears where he gets to pet kittens all bloody day long and sip applejuice, only to have it torn away from him and be forced into a slave existence. The point is that he has come to OUR planet and laid claim to THESE oceans, and intends to stop us from saving it and our -own- lives. I really don't care if he's just misunderstood. The point is we're finally having an effect. Robot Masters, PRESS THE ATTACK!'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: '*a snarl comes from the radio* Press the Attack!'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Wily, please listen to us!'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Libra told us some would not fall by Combat and would fall by persuasion! Neptune may be one of them!'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: '@#$&, Wily! Bass I didn't expect to listen, but you!'.
Sigma finally reaches the sandy bottom of the ocean. After the great descent he begins to rise again, the battle coming back into view. He kicks his anti-grav generators into over-drive, heading towards the surface faster and faster.
(Ch. E []) Twila Peterson transmits: 'Make up your own minds then, either keep firing for lay down arms! Each of you have a choice to make!'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'I'm stopping'.
(Ch. E []) Dr. Pavel Cossack transmits: 'Or the other way around. Zero those people are here are for one reason. Press the attack...or ve are all doomed.'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Repliforce, Twila may be right. Mercy is lost on those who are not accustomed to knowing it. As a ranking Repliforce officer, I am encouraging all Repliforce members to hold back their attacks, defend if need be, but to please give Twila the support she needs.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'He wont stop fighting! He follows Duo blindly! This is for our world! All units! ATTACK!'.
(Ch. E []) Colonel transmits: ' Repliforce! Cease Fire!'.
Anthem raises her cannon, preparing to fire a full salvo at Neptune - heck, he's starting to show *some* sign of being hurt now. The radio chatter, however, causes her to pause. Then, slowly, she lowers her weapon back downwards. "Man, I hate it when this happens." She grumps slightly. "But if they can convince Zero, @#$&, there's got to be some kind of a point." Zero receives a radio transmission.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'IF WE STOP HE MAY STOP!! WILY THINK THIS OVER!'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Mavericks.... oO(Iris, you'd better be right)Oo... hold back.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: 'Chi confirms. I will again cease my attacks. My apologies Wily, but I am receiving conflicting orders from Repliforce command, I will not strike.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'Hunters, keep up the transmissions. We'll stop this one way or the other.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Crash Man transmits: '..yeah! And if you don't fight, we're not sharing our world with you! Neener.'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Everyone else is stopping Wily, Why keep attacking if no one else does???'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'Wily has ordered an attack. We will not disobey him. With our continued efforts, I doubt he will be receptive to your negotiations... So fight with honor, or admit that you have none, and discuss philosophy over tea and crumpets... Or whatever it is cowardly dogs eat.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: 'Sir, I /do/ request that the attack be at least postponed.'.
(Ch. E []) Swing transmits: 'Do not break the alliance. Your comrades in arms request your compliance, Masters.'.
The glimmering edge of King's golden clad boots press heartily against the thick brim of the Symphony's elongated exit ramp as he eyes the hovering form of Neptune with a cold crimson stare. He slowly shakes his head as the Stardroid still stands, even after being emblazoned with attacks right and left, those of which coming from both Bass and Enker themselves. He exudes a disgusted snort and lowers his torso over, hunched and wrenching his Executioner's Axe along with him. Stabbing the heel of his boot into the exit ramp and springing from the buoyant Symphony, he bellows mightily as he crests through the air. As he hurtles himself through the air, his dash jets ignite with a crash and shove him in even higher in ascension. The blade held aloft and gleaming in the moonlight he glides within distance of the omnipotent Stardroid Neptune. Even as the channel springs to life with disagreement, he holds true to one voice: Dr. Albert Wily's, who bellows for his frame to engage in hostility, and he carries out his orders with primed efficiency.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: 'This is not about honor, philosophy, religion, or what have you. This is about sense. Common sense and reason.'.
Enker hopes Neptune will sit and watch patiently while we all deliberate over our radios. Is that standard Stardroid policy?
Not generally, no.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: ' This is going to get me blasted... *sigh*'
(Ch. E []) Colonel transmits: ' Battle is not the most honorable way of combat, Enker.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: '*massive sigh* Would someone just follow my suggestions for once? Lord Wily, you did put me in charge of Stardriod Logistics, and I think a single magnetic attack that would only stun him should be sufficient. Then we can talk him down from there...What Centaur? No, we don't have any horse sized waterwings around...We do have some rather odd looking rubber suits the hardhats have been using since Miss Peterson was engaged to Lord Wily though...'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: '*a snarl comes from the radio again...* Sigma!? Even you?! Fah! So be it... Robot Masters... we give him a final chance. If he fails this time... he dies for good...'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Doc, don't think with your anger now, or your mind, try thinking with your heart. Sometimes it guides you more soundly, and always with less bias.'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Agreed'.
(Ch. E [None]) Bass transmits: 'Doctor you've GOT to be joking...'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'At that point...I will consent.'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Agreed, Wily. Our forces will strike together if he refuses to relent when given this final chance.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Final chance, Bass. I doubt he will take it... if he doesn't... he dies.'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Mercy is a virtue, but stupidity is not.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Chi transmits: 'Sometimes virtue and stupidity are intertwined. Let us hope this is not one of those cases.'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: '*sigh* ... I hope this works.'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Am I allowed to give the order to proceed with the magnetic blast? It should release the hold of whatever memory block there is.'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'I could site a number of examples from among the Hunters and Repliforce.. but this is not the time.'.
(Ch. E []) Colonel transmits: ' It doesn't matter how many victories we place under our belts friends...If we can bring this to an end peacefully, then we gain the ultimate victory...without violence'.
Bass grunts as the collision of his temporary 'pet' with Neptune's body indeed takes place, though for now he ignores the power levels that are depleting in his reserves. Slowly, the monstrous dragon form comes up into a coiled position, as it drifts around and snarls at Neptune's obviously damaged form, as if ready to strike at a second's notice. Bass himself clambers up the creature's back, until perched on the top of it's head, glaring at Neptune with nothing short of barely contained hatred. Still...Wily's last order still rings in his ears...and he narrows his eyes slightly, mouth twisted back into a snarl.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'I recommend you wait, Blizzard Man, and we'll soon see if hearts are hearing better than ears today.'.
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Whatever happened to your world...it doesn't have to happen *again*!!"
Twila Peterson pauses to offer Swing's armored hand a gentle squeeze...
Swing returns the gesture, a look of worried anticipation in his eyes.
Neptune holds up a hand, stumbling... if such can said to happen while hovering in water...and bellows, "STOP!" He throws up a wall of water around him, leaking fluids as the various attacks take their toll. He looks infinitely weary as he glances at Twila and Swing. "Sacrifice can be more painful than ye realize, sometimes..." The large Stardroid emits a heavy sigh. "This world be a lot like mine was. I don't wish to see it destroyed because a small fraction of its inhabitants have been irresponsible in the past." He lowers his head and his arm cannon morphs back into a hand. When he raises his head again, he also raises both hands together cupped, as if holding something precious. He looks towards Swing, surprisingly, and a globe of water appears in his cupped hands. "It be to you that I shall give my key...the Key of Fortitude. For strength and courage against adversity..." The glowing globe of water floats out across the waters towards Swing.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: '...Fitting.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: '... So...be...it... *the voice sounds very angry indeed...then a sigh of slow relief...* The Key...is ours...'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Then it worked?'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: 'Sir . . . please, don't lose your temper.'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'It did indeed, Iris.'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Aye we have Neptune's key!'.
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Interesting...Did he say Fortitude?'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Don't think that this will always be the way. Be prepared for the Stardroid who are not so... easily swayed.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: '*audible sneer* This was easy?'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'We still must face the stronger Stardroids... and Duo.'.
As the globe nears Swing, it solidifies into a perfect sphere. Almost like glass, but definitely still made of water. Roughly the size of a softball.
Enker's eyes dart to Twila Peterson, the orchestrater of this free giving of what is passed off as a key...And the one who was prophesied to be the downfall of Earth. Does anyone else see a slight problem here?
And somewhere, at that thought of Enker's, Libra cackles wildly.
Swing blinks widely, and holds his one hand out in awe, smiling a nod ot gratitude to the Stardroid. "Thank you..." he whispers
The girl's eyes moisten a bit as she looks on Neptune now, how much he appears more like he had on the beach in South America than then he had moments before. She also mouths a "thanks" as a tear runs down her cheek as she turns to see the android beside her take the key...
You send a tightbeam radio transmission to Neptune: "Bless you."
The WilyDragon turns in mid air, leting out a ROAR! This time... there are words in it. "CEASE FIRE!" The Dragon turns, diving for Neptune and the others... not an attack run this time. The eyes watch as Neptune gives over his key... They narrow intently as the 'ears' take in his words... the Dragon slowly nods it's massive head as the Dragon lowers itself into the water as gracefully as a swan... The Voice of Dr. Wily... still slightly angry... but otherwise... respectful. "Thank you... Sea Lord.
King bears down upon Neptune, his axe striking true. However, as Neptune coalesces the tide and waves about him, he is thusly thrown from his position and lands with a massive clang upon the deck of the Symphony transport. Reeling, he slowly stands to his feet once again, Executioner hugged tight to his side. "After all this battle, hostility, and violence? FEH!"
Zero slowly steps up behind Twila while putting a hand to her shoulder. He smiles, but it's a tired one. He's not used to 'giving speeches' or having his land support flung through the air suddenly. "Seems your plan worked, Twila.. Darn fine thought of yours." He looks over at Neptune and even gives 'him' a thumbs up before snapping a transmission off.
Swing looks almost blankly at the small orb, reaching up with his combat gauntlet and clasping it gently.
Neptune raises one hand, palm outward, as if in benediction. "Be warned...some doors are best left unopened. It be up to you, all of you, which one you want to open." Neptune pauses thoughtfully, as if thinking of what more to say, his mouth opens...
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'And I suggest you silence your forces, doctor. They need to train for the coming battle as well as we do.'.
Bass straightens up slightly, as he stands immobile on the solid image of the dragon's head beneath him. His eyes narrow to mere slits, as Neptune appears to surrender at last, and even goes so far as to offer up his own key, and give it to Neptune.
Now there's something to be said about a ticking timebomb, isn't there? And throughout all this silence, there's been one counting down, and right now, it draws to the final, single-digit numbers.
Humiliation...that's what he's suffered in the past at the hands of these beings. Oh for how long has he played it cautious? Holding out to try and find a way to overcome these....these...intruders? And here, seeing this one so tantalizingly close, yet apparently unable to be pushed over the edge because everyone else wants it so...
It would have ended right there after all, were Bass the type to be like any other Robot Master. Unable to disobey Wily's wishes. But that's where he's so much more different, and his programming suddenly comes to a brand new conclusion.
"WHAT!?" he roars suddenly, shifting his buster-arm upwards and bearing it right on Neptune's exposed back. "DO YOU THINK YOU'RE FORGIVEN JUST LIKE THAT? They may give in to their weaknesses...." Even at his shout, energy had begun to gather into his buster at an alarming rate, forming in one mass so rapidly it threatened to overload. But his construction holds true, and in the next second, a hellish blast of biblical proportions is unleashed. "...but...NOT...MEEE!"
*WHAAA-TOOOM!*
[OOC] Neptune reaches up with dying hand to tap out a signal to Sunstar. "Nuke em..."
(Ch. E [None]) Crash Man transmits: 'That's -my- brother, yo.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Dr. Wily transmits: 'Children... Be... *WHAAA-TOOOM!* BASS!'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'BAAAAASSSSSS!!'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: 'Eep? Oh dear...What happened?'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'By the Stars What the @#$& have you done Bass he wasn't fighting anymore!!!'.
(Ch. E []) Sigma transmits: 'Bass...killed him. How...unexpected.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Plant Man transmits: 'My elder sibling proved just /how/ much of an idiot he is!'.
(Ch. E []) Zero transmits: 'He shot him! My of a little brother..../SHOT HIM/!'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'Bass killed Neptune!'.
(Ch. E [Mavericks!!!!]) Iris transmits: '... @#$&, Bass!'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: '...There is no harm done to the alliance... Save perhaps if Bass may not be available for further aid, while receiving proper retributions for insubordination.'
(Ch. E []) Blizzard Man transmits: 'Was that what I thought it was? Please tell me that was not a Stardroid being obliterated.'.
(Ch. E [None]) Centaur Man transmits: '*heavy sigh* You do realize Bass, that Neptune could have been used against the other Stardroids.'.
(Ch. E [Elite]) Enker transmits: 'A casualty of one is insignificant in war. Let Bass' dishonor be his reward for Neptune's death.'.
(Ch. E [Global]) King Dragon transmits: 'As if Bass cares about dishonor'.
Swing almost falls forward as the Stardroid in front of him is struck, nimbly lobbing the key to a pocket and reaching forward to grasp Neptune.
Twila Peterson snaps her gaze up just as the might blast is forth, gazing on again in muted horror as she witnesses a second execution of a Stardroid. A sob loges itself within her throat as she helplessly watches Swing's efforts. Then... "Swing...?"
The WilyDragon doesn't move as the blast is unleashed from the Robot Master on it's head... It simply watches as the blast tears into Neptune. Fortitude wasn't enough. Chaos' Hand...has claimed Neptune. The Mad Doctor simply...watches on... he should be angry at his child...deep within...he smiles wickedly...as does the WilyDragon who is linked to his mind.
Neptune lets out a slight 'Ungh!' of surprise and pain as the blast hits him in a vital spot and his systems begin to go off-line. His optics flicker as he falls backward into the ocean, slowly sinking beneath the waves. His usual scowl tightens into a smile, a genuine one, as he sighs, "Keep fightin' for it...but at the end, realize, who it is...that ye really be fighting...that we are not... your enemy..." And quietly, Neptune sinks beneath the surface and disappears.
Norman Cassidy stares at the blast...Narrowly avoiding being clipped as well..."YOU FRAGGING IDIOT!"
King Dragon glances at the Wily Dragon with disgust "To think I thought you was true... how obviously false that is now..."
Swing eyes go wide, trying to grapple the much heavier Stardroid, but to no avail. After three tries to re-affirm his grasp, lets go. "Nooo!" he screams, falling to his knees in the protective sphere of static energy.
Chi erks...GLARING at Bass. "You..." The rest remains unsaid, as he debates what to do. He then continues, but a wave drowns out his words. He seems utterly distraught at what just transpired. King sends a radio transmission to Dr. Wily. Across the Pacific seaboard, the hurricane abruptly dies down. The wracking sea calms itself, almost to an eery silence, and the raised hulks of dead ships begin to sink back into their watery graves. The WilyDragon simply lowers its head into the water... fliping up to dive down deep under the waves... Zero staggers back, since he was near them as well, as Bass unleashes his attack. He hoists himself to full height, his eyes narrowed and then opening wide, "BAAAAAAAAAAASSSSS!" roars the Berserker, leaping from Twila and Swing to fully address his 'brother', "You've gone too far, damnit! /TOO FAR/ this time! Come down here, you black-clad sonofasoup-can so I can tear your head off!" His hand disappears into his gauntlet, the Zero Buster being forged.
His expression now grim and soured, Zero raises his buster toward Bass. Yet, he doesn't fire - Not yet. Not now. The alliance exists, so even as his body trembles, he refuses to fire, "How many more do you plan to take, Bass? What allies we might have, how many do you plan to assassinate? When this is over, /dear brother/, pray that Rock gets to you first....Otherwise...." His arm being reforged, the Berserker looks away.
Zero turns, his hair blown about by the wind for a moment as he begins to silently walk away from the scene.
Twila Peterson continues to watch helplessly, although now through a clouded vision, as she sinks to her knees beside her friend....and can only stare where the otherworldly creature had been slain...and fully claimed by the sea...
Slash Man sits back on his haunches as Bass strikes down upon Neptune with great vengeance and furious anger. Slash grins. "I always knew the big fish was a creampuff."
Bass appears to shoulder all insults, screams of outrage, and expressions of disbelief at his actions with an eerie sort of calm. The dragon under him moves forward slightly, seemingly put into a calm state now with the obvious destruction of the enemy. "What?" Bass says loudly, hands on hips as he tilts his head back. "You honestly expect he was going to help us out after surrendering his key and basically begging for his life? Suppose he -had- anyway. He would have wound up suffering the same fate as that overgrown blob of jello did. They would have hunted him down as it stands. I did him a favor in the end." He chuckles then, lowering his head slightly as his shoulders shake with the motion. "Come now all of you. Let us return to our previous plans, hrm? We still have more Stardroids to get through."
Swing runs his free hand through his hair, setting his jaw. "He was right..." he whispers audibly. "A doomsday weapon aimed at our world is not the greatest threat."
Enker eyes Bass for a long time... Still, and silent... And slowly the sea and the skies change to match the mood of the Elite. "...You disobeyed Wily's orders, Sir, and you will no doubt receive what's coming to you..." Whether he disobeyed Wily's will is another story altogether.
Bass indeed glares up as the shuttle comes close, and wastes no time in getting lifted up by the dragon's form. He reaches out and takes hold of the hatch, popping inside the craft itself as the image of the black dragon below finally razzes out of view and becomes little more than particles in the air...then nothing altogether. He's had HIS moment for the day...and frankly contrary to everyone else, he's feeling great about it. Twila Peterson places a hand on the android's armored shoulder shakily, not responding for a few lengthy moments, pondering instead. She then offers a squeeze, although he probably couldn't feel it from his armor, and keeps staring at the last place where Netpune had stood. "Swing...let's go home..."
Zero sends you a tightbeam radio transmission: "I'm sorry, Twila..."
Swing sniffs up a trickling fluid in his nose, recomposing himself as he gruffly nods. "Agreed. Let's get out of here. The taste of death stings my throat."
Twila Peterson dips her chin after a shuddering breath before offering a nod. First Eclipse, and now Neptune. The girl's not certain how much of this she can actually take. Shakily, she climbs back onto her feet and offers a hand down towards Swing. "Then," she sighs, "let's go."
Swing re-enacts his force generators as he takes Twila's hand and they race off across the ocean.
<Soon...>
Donachi Business District - Neo Tokyo
Swing again comes to a halt, his dash leaving orange energy trails behind them as he terminates his field outside Light Labs. "I like the ride home over the calm seas better." he admits.
Twila Peterson swallows as she wearily blinks. "First...Eclipse...and now Neptune," she murmurs. "Maybe they really aren't the ones who are our enemies..."
Swing pulls out the key again to look it over. "We might not even get a chance to use these at the rate we're going." he remarks, sighing. "However, we can't give up. Even in death, Neptune believed our cause had merit."
Twila Peterson nods slowly, pulling hers out as well...a golden key that had been left by Eclipse upon his death. "As did Eclipse, or he wouldn't have died in order to give his."
Swing blinks as he sees the second key. "I'm a bit humbled to be in possession of such an artifact." he admits meekly.
The girl glances at the device while still holding hers. "He chose well on who he wished to have it."
Swing almost blushes at the notion, eyes the blue-green orbs once more, then palms it away. "Do we really have only a handful of days to live, Twila?" he asks hollowly, looking over the horizon where the sun would be rising tomorrow. Funny, how the giant star now represents impending death.
Twila Peterson trails his gaze and doesn't answer for sometime. "If Terra isn't able to be freed from his prison...then yes. Only a few days..." she answers reluctantly.
Swing inhales again, nodding as he accepts the concept. "That won't happen," he says with confidence. "It mustn't." he strains his face as he rubs the back of his back. "Ergh. Melted out a few of my resistors while maintaining that field in the storm - I probably should shut down for a few hours, let the repair systems do their work."
Twila hmmmms softly as she slides Eclipse's key away so it's safely protected again. "That...might be a good idea..." Her voice trails off until she adds, "Thank you, for trusting me enough to take me out there with you...and then go another route when we arrived. I heard what you ahd been otherwise ordered."
Swing smiles slightly. "Well, you were on the level - didn't feel right, taking him down by force. I'm glad you were there to make a difference."
The young woman offers a small smile in return as she feels her cheeks redden. Now she's the one blushing. "Me too..." she muses. Briefly lost within her own thoughts her gaze then drifts towards the front entrance of where they stand. "You better go ahead and get some rest. We...both had quite a night already..."
Swing smiles once again, and without another word, the slightly shy Hunter skips into the labs, a sense of hope giving him a slight spring in his step.
<Meanwhile, back at the makeshift base of the Alliance where continued discussion goes on of what occurred...>
"How am I supposed to know what goes through a Stardroid's mind?" Bass grunts, glaring right back at Chi, making it rather clear that size means NOTHING to him. Heck, he's felled opponents nearly two stories high before....his reputation rather...well earned.
"Do I look like I have a crystal ball that magically transmits their thoughts to me? No. Consider it a precaution in such a case. Who knows, maybe he really -was- willing to be on our side and defend the planet." He then gives a mere shrug, and an emotionless, "Oops."
Remorse? Nonexistent.
<Twila Peterson's Quarters...>
Twila Peterson is laying on her stomach across the length of her bed with pillow tucked underneath her chest as she studies the key Eclipse had given his life to offer. Her expression is ponderous, as well as somewhat shaken. Her musings, however, are distracted momentarily. A glance is given towards the door as she offers a quiet, "Come in..."
Meanwhile, Kyo remains sleeping, curled up within her little basket, fast asleep and tightly nuzzling to one of her little squeaky toys.
The door slides open to reveal none other than Rick standing there. He waits until the entrance is completely clear before making a step into the room, raising a hand to give a small wave. "Hey..." he offers gently. "I uh...was just passing by and figured I'd...drop in to see how you were doin."
Twila softens her gaze as she looks on her sibling. A slight sniffle is overhead as she takes in a breath. "As...well as I can be expected..." she murmurs as she goes back to staring at the key, thoughts rolling unceasingly though her mind as the ocean waves. "The Stardroid Neptune, the one who spoke to us at the beach in South America when you...showed be the sea turtles," she manages out, "he's...dead..."
Rick Morgan gently moves up alongside Twila's bed, hands resting in his pockets for the moment, as he stares down at her, not really knowing what to say right away. Still, he turns and gently sits down on the edge of the bed itself, right next to where she lays. "I...heard about the details." He offers gently. "I guess it's what you'd kinda call casualties of circumstances...."
Twila Peterson presses her lips tightly together as she forces some raw emotion down. After a few minutes' silence she whispers. "I can't help but wonder if he was right. The...Stardroids aren't the ones who are our enemies." The golden key she holds is lifted up as she pushes herself up into a sitting position. "Neptune's key was Fortitude. Eclipse's key, from what I thought from what I could gather was involvement. But...the more I think on it, it may have been sacrifice."
Rick Morgan tilts his head to one side, eyes unconsciously tilting downwards to have a look at the key for himself. He studies what he can of it from this far, noting every little detail possible, before raising his attention to Twila once more. "Twila I know it's rough about the fact that we're working alongside those who are our enemies normally. And we've got to expect that Wily, Bass, Sigma...Vile....all of them are going to do things to test our limits the whole time. They're not going to make it easier on us. Maybe if he was referring to the fact that our true enemies are right here with us, acting on our side right now....I'd be inclined to believe him." He then sighs. "...but the fact remains that the Stardroids still have a power building up that's set to annihilate this entire planet. THAT is what we've got to focus on right now."
The girl glances up, swallowing and meeting his gaze. "I...know. But, I can't help but think that there *are* worse things than annihilation...and that by going through what we are going through...they're trying to warn us of what it exactly is."
Rick Morgan sighs again faintly, giving a light shrug. "Maybe..." he says gently. "Frankly I could go without them trying to show all this though. I prefer being ignorant of what it's like and thankful that it's not like that, than actually experiencing it myself. Just my take on it. Twila, just try to keep things simplified as it is though. Right now Sunstar is our biggest worry, and I find it helps if you focus your mind on one issue at a time. It doesn't work all the time...but it does help to give someone something to concentrate on and keep going."
"And that...by overlooking the whys...is exactly why we're being judged within the first place, Rick," his sister intones gently. However, she doesn't press him further than that, sensing he may not comprehend. But then again, through her experiences, she has been forced to become more differently involved than most. She then leans forward to offer him a hug, not wanting to say what she exactly wants too, fearing it will be either brushed aside or denied due to a deep fear she knows he holds. "Earth will pull through. I...know it will. Two of them proved by sacrifice they have faith in us Earth will. And another is doing her best to see that it doesn't, evidence she's afraid it will as well."
Rick Morgan sighs gently, and returns the hug in full, tilting his head forward. Why's he getting some feeling in the pit of his stomach that there's something she's holding back? Still, this isn't the time for him to go probing into those sort of things, and he just gives a slow nod. "Yeah...things are actually looking up in that respect. They won't succeed...I know they won't. Not with all that's happened lately.."
Twila Peterson squeezes gently, knowing that he must be detecting her underlying currents due to the bond they share. However, she doesn't give thought to address the issue even still. "I can only hope those who have fallen are at peace now," she muses as she rests there. Her chin lifts itself up and she offers his cheek a loving kiss. "Anyway. I...better get some rest..."
Rick Morgan twists his mouth into a neutral line, and merely gives a gentle nod. "Yeah..." he offers, as he slides off from where he was sitting, and straightens up. "Get a good night's sleep Twila. At least we can take solace that we're making progress...I dunno if it helps much but...give it some thought anyway. I'll see you tomorrow when you get up sis. Rest well."
Twila Peterson slowly blinks as her brothers moves to stand. Her eyes flicker back towards the key that's been placed into her care by circumstances before she gazes back up. "Rick, remember the promise we made...on the boardwalk a few weeks ago?" she asks, slightly trembling.
Rick Morgan blinks, and tilts his head down, watching Twila for a few moments. "I remember..." he says quietly, mouth forming a bit of a downward line at some other thoughts cropping up...one particular one in fact. "And I still mean what I said Twila. I intend that neither one of us is ever going to have to be faced by that promise...."
Twila gazes at him with an underlying sadness. "Just...always remember..."
Rick Morgan watches for a long moment....before giving a low sigh, and a nod of his head. "I will, Twila..." he finally offers, before turning and moving back towards the door again. He reaches out to touch the frame for a moment, before glancing back over his shoulder. "Get a good night's sleep." he says quietly, before turning and heading out again, back into the hallway beyond.
