Megaman - Wednesday, June 07, 2000, 4:58 PM -------------------------------------------
<Within the Maverick Hunters' Training Room...>
Twila Peterson can be heard within one corner of the training chamber, currently running a program....with a "gun" in hand. The way she moves about shooting at the holographic orbs seems not as if it's given over to too much thought, or care for that matter. When she strikes she doesn't make a sound. When she misses she doesn't make a sound. It's almost as if her motions were being played out as an automatic reflex if anything else. She doesn't notice when someone else enters the room...and neither does she appear to care.
Noise blinks and watches the woman silently from behind, his little drone watching and hiding behind the reploid...just in case Twila accidentally mistook him for a target.
Twila Peterson continues on within her display for awhile longer until the last of the holographic disappears. As she turns to fire towards that one as well she catches sight of her rather small audience. Within her present state of mind she does indeed mistake them as additions to the program and points the gun right towards Noise rather soundlessly. The "gun" is not an actual firing weapon and is only usable here within the training area. However, at the moment, that fact seems to escape the young woman...and possibly her new target...or possibly not.
Noise stands there at awe. "Impressive." His little drone beeping as it peers from behind its master's head. "He wants to know if it's safe for him to come out now." The reploid frowns at his creation. "You know, if you used yer spectrographic sensors more than the visual and audio, you would know no danger has been present to you since the very beginning."
Twila Peterson keeps the gun trained on the new Hunter until some of his words sink in. Her stance falters briefly before she lowers the gun. Without apology she then sharply turns the wall behind her and angrily throws the shooter, not bothering to give him a word of greeting for the longest moment. "Nice commentary..." she murmurs, starting after where the metal had struck metal.
Rock blinks at his entry, a frown creasing his features. Something definitely isn't sitting well with Rock tonight, regarding Twila. He steps forward, further into the room. "Twila?"
Twila Peterson bu-blinks at the familiar voice and turns on the Blue Bomber a tad too sharply. "WHAT?!" she snaps rather uncharacteristically.
Noise blinks and looks a bit startled. "Oh, Hey commander Megaman! What brings you here? Of course if that's none of my business you can tell me. I'm just snoopy. I'm a good person though, really! Okay I'll shudup now..."
Wincing as Twila snaps at him, Rock takes a step back, glancing at her with his sapphire eyes. "What's the matter with you, Twila?"
Twila Peterson lets out a breath of sheer frustration. "Nothing is a matter, Rock. Stop being so paranoid." As she states this she talks over to retrieve the previously "discarded" weapon and picks it up of the floor before telling the room's computer getting herself ready for another round of what it was she was involved with before Noise had come in, "Reset module 9..."
Rock shakes his head. "No, that's something wrong. I'm not being paranoid, just concerned for you, Twila." His own form shimmers, his Megaman armour forming. "Mind if I join you in the training module?"
A flash of light-blue light emits from Rock, who leaps back and stands with his left arm outstretched. Starting at his feet, a blue energy washes up and around his body; as it passes, it leaves his Megaman armour covering him. Finally, the energy coalesces into his hands, forming his helmet, which he slams into place, the seal of his neck armor locking closed.
Noise continues to watch in silence. oO(Ummm...wasn't -I- supposed to be training?)Oo His drone remains close by just in case the duo get too excited and accidentally blast a drone that isn't part of the program.
Never mind the fact that within their entire relationship Twila had never once raised her voice to the Hunter Commander. If that small tidbit bothers the young woman at all, she doesn't allow that to show either. She doesn't look on as he reverts to his armor and tosses a shrug. "Go ahead...free country..." Without waiting for word from Rock Twila shouts towards the unseen terminal, "Computer, begin program." Suddenly, the holographic drones once more take their place near the ceiling. At the command one of them makes its rapid descent.
Regarding Twila sideways, Rock shakes his head, his hand sliding into his forearm. "Yeah, it is," he responds, just as coldly as Twila is acting.
Noise leans on the wall by the doorway and watches the two as they practice, his drone floating next to him scared that they might mix him up with the program.
Zero strides into the Training Room, all smiles and pounding his fist into an open palm, "Alright! Time to raise some he---" Before he can finish, though, he takes note of just what appears to be happening. He arches his brow, slowly drops his arms and just -- stares. The heck? He tilts his head, makes a clueless expression, then moves toward Noise. Once there, he leans back against the wall, folds his arms and mutters something aside to him. Zero whispers to Noise: '... Noise? ... ... ... ... ... on ... ...'.
Noise leans close to Zero and whispers something while eyeing the two relatively baffled. Noise whispers to Zero: 'You got ... I think they're bickering ... ... ... are ... the anger ... ... ... ... ... confronted ... ... Just ... ... of ... comments.'.
Rock tosses Noise a glance.
Twila doesn't seem to show anything but indifference as the veteran moves to join her either, or respond within the same manner that she's been acting towards him within the past few minutes. Instead, as soon as the first orb swings down Twila already has the "gun" raised and begins firing, hitting it a shot before the next starts down, this one coming towards Rock himself. Twila ignores the second and instead swings for the third she knows which is coming, firing towards that one as well. However, as the small excursive continues and the girl keeps on moving her actions show themselves to be more chaotic.
Zero furrows his brows, "I'll have to have a talk with them, it looks like. After all, his 'brother' isn't much for those 'man-to-man talks'..." He snorts and watches, body tensing as he runs over a few possibilities in his mind. This certainly puts a damper on all of his 'big date' plans with all of them. Rather than jumping to conclusions, though, since Noise seems to be as confused as he is, he just watches to see what's going on before doing/saying anything rash.
Noise makes a cheezy smile at Rock.
Rock fires off a shot that catches the second in the chest, sending it's holoparts flying across the room to vanish; his buster moves to catch the fourth, and fifth, leaving the sixth for Twila. At Zero's speech, and Noise's cheesy smile, he tosees both a glare.
Zero pages: Something like that. :) Noise blinks and his pupils move to the corners of his eyes towards Zero. "Should we let them finish or train elsewhere?" oO(No you idiot, training elsewhere would be real damage. You and your big mouth. Stupid stupid stupid.)Oo
Twila swings around to focus on the sixth orb, bringing the arm to bear the holographic image a shot that should have been easy for her to hit by the way the projectory was slated. However, after firing several shots the light-reflected mass keeps coming and simply passing right through her, leaving her wide-eyed as well as a little more pale. Frozen for a second or two she once more continues firing, finally striking the orb before collapsing onto her knees, breathing heavily.
Rock blinks as Twila falls to her knees; a moment of indecision haunts his features, before he drops down next to her and wraps his arms around her to support her.
Zero just stares. Rather than answering Noise, though, he grunts and takes a few steps toward the pair battling the orbs. "Alright, you two, I want some answers! Rock, what the heck is Twila doing in the Training Room like this?" He seems more concerned than angry, but then again, this -is- Zero. "And don't just stare at me, I want genuine vocal answers. Something like: Oh, it's ok Zero, we just decided to shoot these orbs rather than kill each other! C'mon, I'm waiting here." His arms remain folded and he stops at a respectable distance while, indeed, waiting.
"I don't know, Zero," Rock replies, "She's been acting this way since the Stardroids showed up here earlier. I'm assuming that's part of it. But I don't know any further..."
The orbs continue swirling at their pace above the two trainers, headless of the fact they are no longer being targeted...and will probably remain so until the computer is informed the simulation is over...not that either the human or the reploid appear to take any notice of that. After dropping the gun to the solid metal floor with a small clatter which echoes through the room, Twila lifts a hand to tightly grasp Rock's armored gauntlet. "Sorry..." is all she murmurs with a trembling voice, just now trying to regather herself.
Noise makes a disgusted face behind Zero as the crimson hunter shows just how insensitive he can be. oO(This is who I'm gonna use as my role model!? I wonder if he losses his strength if somebody cuts his hair.)Oo
Hummmmm.....FUZZUM! Blam! Blam! Blam! Blam!
With a quick snap of his forearm, coverting into the Zero Buster, the Berserker annihilates the remaining orbs just in case they get any funny ideas during the down time. Can't have that, now can we? Smoke pours from the cannon as he holds aloft, staring a moment before allowing it to drop and reform into his forearm, "/Stardroids/? Alright, Rock, spill it. What'd they say and do... His face contorts into a silent, annoyed rage as he refolds his arms. Zero already distrusts the Stardroids fully and this obviously didn't help. Especially seeing Twila like this, the girl that he's mentally vowed to protect save for Iris herself. His eyes dart between the two, their emerald gaze piercing forward. He's not insensitive, not. Merely overprotective of his best friend and his 'girl'. When something threatens them, he has that lovely tendancy to snap.
"There's nothing to be sorry about, Twila," Rock responds softly, "I'm just worried about you. It's not like you to act this way." "As far as I can tell, Chaos, Duo and a female Stardroid showed up... Noise has more information than I do," Rock replies.
Noise butts in. "Actually, I only have information during the duration of time in which I was actually alive. I was dead the majority of their visit."
[OOC] Zero facepalms, "I'm training /this/ guy?" :) [OOC] Noise says, "what's wrong with -this- guy? ;)"
Twila Peterson opens her mouth to speak. But at first nothing come before she answers, "The black mass 'took care' of Noise while I was busy being enveloped by it." She straightens up if only a little to better lean against Rock. "It...was too overwhelming."
Rock frowns deeply, "Black mass?" He hmms slightly. Chaos, maybe? Most likely, from what he's seen of the entity. "It didn't hurt you, did it?"
Noise nodnods. "Took care of me indeed...I say sumthin, he gets mad, KABLAM, flying through the air, slam onto the ceiling, black out, wake up, guy with big hand, blue beams. I tell ya tha wuz some crazy **** man!"
Zero sneers, "Darnit, I'm getting tired of the Stardroids always mingling into our business!" He clenches his fists, almost going into a rampage right then and there. Yet, somehow, he remains calm enough to continue speaking, "What'd they say? They didn't do this in silence, they all talk to much!" He grates his teeth together for a moment, staring so as to allow his words to sink in. "I bet they're getting ready for this whole 'judgment' thing of theirs. Darnit, Rock, I /told/ you!" Turning, he slams his fist into the wall.
CLANG! (Clang, clang, clang, clang....)
His posture straightens after this, eyes burning holes into the dent, "....."
Noise mimics Zero's swings in the air, staring at the dent. oO(Oh yeah, I'm bad.)Oo
[OOC] Zero is gonna kill you, Noise. You know that, right? :)
Twila Peterson trembles slightly. "No...not that I know of..." her voice stutters. "All he did was 'hold' me..." Some silence is drawn from her again. "I can't remember all that he said...or the other two that came after. Not right now." *pause* "There was so much hate in him."
Noise walks up to Zero and examines the dent he made on the wall, still not able to believe it. "That's crazy."
Rock turns at Zero, eyes narrowing. "Don't you THINK that I'm sick of the Stardroids doing their own thing?! Don't you THINK I'm tired of watching them mingle into our business?" He shakes his head, "And I don't know what the ysaid, other than Venus, who got ME on my way back to Headquarters and fought me." He looks down at Twila, "Chaos is an embodiment of hatred..."
Noise does a slow motion punch to neatly fit his fist into a dent, a karate expression on his face. "Wua..."
Zero whirls around to glare at Rock, "Well, I'm darn tired of it, Rock! And if you aren't gonna do anything about it, then I will!" He points toward Twila, "I refuse to let anything else happen to her..." He says nothing more than that, but does peer at Noise for a moment. Silently, he wonders just what the heck he's doing, but doesn't bother asking. Sneering again, he leans back against the wall and stares off into space with folding arms. His mind, as usual, is a cloud of varying and conflicting emotions. He came here originally to blow off steam before giving Rock his 'date' idea, and it winds up with him ready to go on a rampage. Figures, really.
Rock refrains from responding Zero's yell. "Who said I'm not going to do anything about it?" he says softly, shaking his head. "So just lay off."
Twila Peterson tightly shuts her eyes, taking in a sharp breath, holding on to Rock all the more as the two reploids converse while a third displays antics which may very well cause the situation to become all the more tense. "What even *can* be done?" she suddenly asks. The Blue Bomber can probably still feel the trembling from her for a small while longer. However, it is somewhat lessening.
Zero frowns in his staring, "...Sorry." What's this? Zero? Apologizing? The world's ending before the Stardroids have even lifted a finger! Well, no, but even still. "...I'm just getting protective of Twila, lately, since she's -- Well, your girl, Rock." He glances toward them. "Guess I feel it my duty to protect you and everybody associated with you. Both of ya." With a shrug, he looks back toward a particularly interesting portion of the wall, "Actually, I'd come looking for you two for a reason -- But, heh, this is hardly the time to bother mentioning it."
Noise stares off into space thinking of random things. .oO(Man...I nearly died today...wow...that's crazy! Man, maybe I should indulge myself more in life, this job proves to be more hazardous than anything. Yeah, indulge myself. Maybe after this I'll have myself some banana cream pie...no no, even better. Pumpkin pie, with some kool-aid..oh had be heaven...mmm...pumpkin pie, kool-aid...wait! I dunno if they even have pie here, well I guess we could go out...but then you'd prolly get yer aft whooped again...)Oo.
Rock looks down at Twila, squeezing her tightly to his body. For all his strength, he's gentle as always. "I don't know. Yet. We'll think of something, though...even if we have to find a way to stop the Stardroids on their own terms." He glances up at Zero, nodding a little. "I know. You're just concerned. I'd probably be the same way with Iris... maybe."
Twila Peterson lifts her chin towards the scarlet clad reploid as he looks away, pondering him with something akin to curiosity. She doesn't address his revelation for just why he was apparently particularly bothered by this, although she does acknowledge it, feeling somewhat comforted in that. Although still troubled by the evening's events she manages, "What...reason were you looking for us?" hoping some distraction will help ease her mind.
Noise continues leaning on the wall, eyes staring off at the ceiling rather bored. oO(Wow, there must be millions of holographic light projectors to cover every possible angle the trainee is positioned against the hologram...hmm...one, two, three, four, five, six....)Oo
Zero shrugs a little, glancing toward them again, "Eh, well... From what I hear, there's this Ball that's gonna be held this weekend. I asked Iris if she wanted to go and it thrilled her to death. Speaking of which..." He pauses in thought, looking directly to Rock, "You're a great leader, Rock.. Never mind what I said earlier -- And, don't worry about me going out and doing anything rash. Iris would flip if I got myself killed." He shakes his head while smirking, "Can't have that, now can we? Besides, I won't give Sigma that pleasure. Anyway, back on subject. I thought, since we're going, that Rock, you should come and bring Twila as your date." Somewhat of a grin is managed at this point.
Grinning slyly, and trying to lighten the mood, Rock nods, "Yeah. I don't think Iris would let you kick the bucket before you used he 'M' word with her." He grins a little, and hmms, "That sounds like it might be fun." He glances at Twila. "If you'd like to go, I'd be honored to have a girl as beautiful as you accompany me."
The edges of Twila's lips curl upwards as she comments softly. "I thought that was a 'C'," she thinks to point out before resting her head against Rock's armored shoulder. "As...long as your there..." she finally responds. Her frame seems to relax a little at the change of topic. But she's still till embracing Rock firmly, as if afraid to let go.
Noise eyes his drone as it beeps sadly. He mutters something to his creation, "Feh, we don't need women...we have each other." oO(Oh how pathetic are you!?)Oo Noise snaps. "No I will -not- make one for you."
Zero ehhhs, "...Right. C. Carriage...And it was very lovely, too." He coughs into his fist and glances around, "Anyway..I'll let Iris know. She's declared that you hafta go shopping with her, Twi." He smirks toward her, then turns toward Noise, "As for /you/... I believe your training starts today, doesn't it?" That smirk becomes more and more prominent as he awaits the new Hunter's reaction. "Rock...Twila...May wanna move aside. I hafta break in the new 'inductee'."
Noise blinks and flexes, clenching a fist or two and swinging in the air. "Well, I can guarantee you that I'm feeling more alive than I was before." oO(Heh)Oo
Rock chuckles a little. "Go easy on the new inductee, Zero. He's had a hard day." Taking Twila's hand into his own gently, he helps her up from her kneeling position and toward the side of the training area.
Noise gets into some funky defensive stance which is a mix of karate kid and boking, fists in the boxing position while knee up in the air. "Chia!"
Twila Peterson drifts her gaze towards Noise and merely...blinks? She doesn't make comment on what she overheard, particularly regarding his lack of need for the female gender...leaving that well enough alone. His loss. There's a quiet nod offered towards the beserker as Rock helps her to her feet and to the outer rim. "Sorry...for being cross earlier," she tells him shyly, still somewhat embarrassed and upset with herself.
Zero waves a hand, "Go easy. Sure. Right. Gotchya Rock. Easy." He cracks his knuckles, looking Noise from head to toe. Ah well, he did ask for it, didn't he? His brow arches as he watches the sudden 'defensive stance' and just shakes his head while grinning, "Lesson one..." In a sudden blur of crimson movement, Zero launches himself from his current position to Noise's in a lunge with hands going for the opposing.
Rock gives Twila a soft kiss on the cheek, "Forgiven. I can understand, if you got pulled inside that evil thing."
Zero sneers, "...Don't provoke the stronger guy!"
Noise is hurled into the air, his body staying up for a few seconds before landing a meter or so away with a loud thud. "AIEE! UGH!" The little orb follows. "Drone, record these lessons." Noise stands up, brushing dust off of his legs. "Gotcha..."
Zero straightens up, hands going to his hips in a stance of pure defiance. He stares for a moment, all smirks, and then waves a hand in the 'come' motion, "Gimme your best shot, Noise. C'mon.." He's meaning physical, of course, but let's see if Noise realizes that.
Twila Peterson snakes her arms around Rock regardless if he remains within his "true blue" armor or not, and embraces him more properly while watching the other two from side glances. "I'll...try to not make it a habit...believe me..." she offers. As she watches the other two a few moments more asks, "Rock, there's something I've been...meaning to ask you..."
Noise jogs in place and gets powered up... "Alright...here goes." With that he charges off, sprinting over to the red target. His dash comes to and end when he loses the rythm, one foot overlapping the other...both colliding. The reploid's form comes crashing down, chin on the executive officers foot.
Rock glances over at Twila, his own arms wrapping around Twila, smiling slightly. "Ask away, Twila."
Zero slowly drops his head into the palm of his head, "...I...See why you needed this now." He shakes his head and takes a step away from Noise, "Get up, Noise. Now, I want you to throw a punch at me. A simple, everyday punch." He can't possibly screw up. Can he? Naah.. Nobody can screw up a punch!
Twila Peterson winces towards Noise as he...um...attempts to "give it his best shot" which equals to just about nill before refocusing back on Rock. "When...am I going to be scheduled for self-defense?"
Noise stands up, he shakes his head side to side, flexing. Taking a deep breath, clenches, unclenches, clenches his fist. Winding up like a pitcher, he gets some momentum and swings at Zero.
Zero jabs his arm up to block Noise. It hardly hurt, sting or any other essence of pain. Yet, he's just glad the guy connected. Heck, he wasn't gonna try to dodge anyway. Smirking, he nods and casts Noise's hand aside, "Well, good. You've completed step 1. You managed to throw a punch without tripping again. I'm proud." He eyes the pair across the room, giving a 'friendly smile' to himself, then peers back at Noise, "Now. Step 2... Dodge!" No sooner has Zero spoken this word, he's lunged in with his own fist.
Rock kinda blinks. First Roll wanting to train with him, and Twila's wanting self-defense. But, if he's learned anything of late, it's that he, nor the other Hunters can be relied on constantly. Twila needs to at least know how to defend herself long enough to get away, or maybe even beat someone. Grudgingly, then, he says, "I hadn't really thought about a set date for it. Maybe after the ball, early next week?"
Noise blinks as the blow connects. .oO(YES! I DID IT! Woo, hey wait...oh sheesh...you did do it!)Oo "Oh sorry sir, I didn't mean to...I mean I did, sorry.." Obviously he doesn't do this kinda thing often. "Yah." He beams proudly as he successfully completes step one. "Did you record that drone...step one completed woo an-" *Bop* "Look out for what?" *CLANK* Zero's fist comes down hard on his skull and the reploid's body arches back some, he struggles to maintain his balance. "Woo, hehe, gettin a lil woozy up in here."
The drone shakes its form side to side rather disappointed.
Zero darts back to where he was, not giving the ample time needed to retaliate, "Well, perhaps being 'dead' has thrown off your reflexes. Remember, little hits like that hardly mean anything. Don't celebrate because you managed to throw a punch." The Berserker shakes his head, then motions toward the door, "Heh, look. Noise, go get some rest. We'll pick up tomorrow with more advanced stuff when you can 'respond' better. Just try not to die before hand, alright?"
Twila is already well aware the Hunter Commander would be a tad reluctant to agree to any sort of training. After all, this was the fellow that had her rooming within his quarters will he maintained guard outside for a period of a few months. Whenever she asked for her own quarters he always dodged the issue until he was cornered. He had been rather overprotective at first. But he has been becoming better. "Sounds good. Although..." she muses, "any sort of training that requires a buster I think you can leave out." The tone within her voice may indicate that Twila is relaxing more than when she first arrived in here, and tells him as much in so many words. "By the way, you realize you have a knack of being rethepudic yourself?"
Rock quirks an eyebrow, smiling at that. "Oh, I do? It must come from hanging around you so much, Twi." He grins, and gives her a small squeeze. "And yeah, I figured leaving out Buster training would work; hand to hand, and a small firearm or two, mayhaps. A pistol like you were using earlier."
Noise takes his best guess and gives one of the Zeros a thumbs up...unfortunately not the right one, "You got sir!" He motions to one of his drones as well..again incorrect. "C'mon drone." The hunter looking a few cows short of a herd while talking to thin air. With that, he makes his way to the door, the journey taking it's toll. Noise nearly leaning to far to the left, almost tipping off balance, yet his vigilant little drone keeps him erect, as well as guiding him to the correct door. "Quit pushing!"
Noise exits, his small drone following close behind.
Zero sighs and shakes his head almost silently as Noise tries to make his way out. This is gonna be /fuuuun/. Before heading out himself, though, he glances to Rock and Twila with a grin, "Now, you two play nice, alright? Don't stay up too late, kids." Before he can really give them a chance to answer, he heads for the door while adding, "Night!"
