Recreation Room <Hunter HQ>
The recreation room is traditionally the busiest idle-time
location in Light Labs. Decorated with glass and steel walls and
a hard floor, games and idle distractions of all sorts dominate
this room, and the noise of games is seldom absent. Several pool
tables dot the floor, and other gaming tables reside as well,
where games of chance and simple idle chatter can commence. One
wall is lined with various console game units, dating from the
dawn of video gaming to current. On the opposite wall is a small
bar where many kinds of drinks can be made, though the stock is
more bare than it would be in a building occupied primarily by
humans. A final touch is a jukebox in the corner, filled to the
brim with a wide variety of music.
Rick Morgan sits at the counter, leaning over slightly, one elbow propping himself up as he raises a cup of coffee to his lips now and then, tuning into the latest news reports on the TV across the room. For once it's -not- broadcasting something about Maverick or Robot Master attacks...yet.
Twila Peterson wanders into the Recreation Area with lil Kyo perch atop of her shoulder. Unlike most other times the animal seems a bit subdued now, as if gathering that something is up...she just doesn't know what. Quite a change from her usual state of state of activity. The animal's owner has noticed it as well. But it's not as if there's much she can do to cheer her. "Mei!" the cabbit suddenly calls in greeting as she spots Rick before Twila does.
Twila blinks and smiles towards her brother. "Hey, catching a small breather?" she asks as she approaches the counter.
Rick Morgan blinks at that, turning just enough to glance in Twila's direction, returning a small smile and a quick nod. "Yeah..." he says, taking another sip from his cup. "Things are actually stone quiet right now...so I figured I'd take it easy at the moment while I had the chance, y'know?" Absently, he gives Kyo a small grin, "Hey squirt."
Kyo-Ohki emits a "mew-miff-yip-yip" and then hops down off of the girl and scrambles up to the counter to see what it is the cyborg happens to be drinking...going as far as to nearly dipping her face inside the mug!
"Well, never know when you'll be called. Kinda like living in a fire drill here," Twila notes, before nearly facepalming at her cabbit's antics. "Kyo, you *already* had dinner."
Rick Morgan hmmms, noting to slide the mug away from the
curious furball. "Trust me squirt, I don't think you need
caffeine firing through your system. Besides, I need this more
than you do right now." he smirks, having not slept all that
much last night. A combination of late work, and other issues.
Attention returns to Twila once more then, as he turns in his seat just a bit to completely face her. "How you doing?"
Kyo turns a rather pleading glance towards him in efforts of trying again to sneak a peak at the beverage. But as it's slid a way, she offers him a pout. Soon she can be seen sticking her nose straight up in the air before hoping down off the counter and making way to the couch to sulk. <Meanie!>
Twila makes it a point not to make an issue of her cabbit's present mood. She just keeps a mental tab of where she presently is. "I'm fine...although getting somewhat nervous already. Say, where is everyone, patrol? Haven't seen much of anyone around base today."
Rick Morgan hmms. "This and that." Rick says quietly. "You know how things are right? I figure that's why it's so quiet right now. Actually went up to the command center earlier and there was no one on duty. Save for an observation droid."
Twila Peterson nods, certainly knowing by now. "Just hope I'm able to actually say goodbye before...well..." She lets that one hang and shrugs. "Well, that is if the neighborhood Masters and Mavericks don't have any protest."
Rick Morgan shakes his head, sliding from his seat and carrying his now empty cup to the sink, where he proceeds to rinse it out. "Don't worry yourself over it, Twila...less stress that way. Try and think on other things." Yeah, yeah, he knows. Easier said than done. But he says it anyway.
Twila Peterson leans herself against the counter while idly watching Rick. "Hmmm, yeah. I suppose," she muses while her thoughts drift...but not onto the "other things" as her brother suggested. It's true. Eaiser said than done. "
Fliptop skitters in, little legs a pumpin' like crazy. ZIP! He darts around the furniture and rushes over to the jukebox and disappearing behind it.
Twila Peterson is leaning against the kitches counter while chatting with Rick while little Kyo grumps on the sofa. Let's here it for tempermental cabbits!
Twila Peterson is leaning against the kitchen counter while chatting with Rick while little Kyo grumps on the sofa. Let's here it for tempermental cabbits!
Rick Morgan turns the cup upside down and lets the water run out of it, before drying it off with a towel and returning it from hence it came. He smiles gently at Twila in understanding, as he steps closer and reaches out to touch her shoulder encouragingly. "Hang in there sis." he says. "We've been talkin about this the past couple days right?"
Twila Peterson offers a smile in return as her gaze casts itself to the counter. "Yeah...we have. But doesn't really prepare you for when the time actually comes."
Fliptop emerges from behind the jukebox, grunting, and tugging a bag of cookies with his mouth. Pulling his prize into the light, he hops up and down excitedly. Finally, he seems to note the presence of the others in the room. Grinning like a madman, he burbles some unintelligible comment and hops in front of the cookies. "Er, um, hey guys! I mean, like, what are you doing here? I was just, uh, y'know, um....Er..." He giggles a bit, then perks his head up and kicks the cookies out in the open. "Anybody, er, hungry?"
Rick Morgan gives a quick nod towards Twila. "Yeah, I guess not..." he says, right before a certain suitcase with legs makes his presence known. He blinks and turns to face the little red robot, suddenly grinning wide. "Eddie! My man! Where ya been lately?" He then glances towards the cookies as they're revealed as well. "Should I even ask where you got these?"
Kyo-Ohki is the first to respond to THAT! He say cookies? Forget sulking, she'll schedule it in later. With a sudden straightening of her back both ears sticj straight up within the air as she focuses in on the pint-sized mech. With a gliddy mew she scampers off the sofa and into Fliptop's direction, and actually hops onto Flip's head to peer into the bag. "Mew!!"
Twila turns around and grins widely towards the new arrival.
"Long time no see! Hi." She then leans over towards
Rick conspiritively.
You whisper 'Er...you might not wanna know.' to Rick Morgan.
Twila Peterson is only teasing of course, as can be seen by her manner.
Fliptop snickers a bit and shakes his head quickly. "Nope, I mean, heck you really wouldn't wanna know wouldja?" He smiles broadly and grasps the bag with some waldo what makes itself known from inside Eddie's noggin. Revving up his lower, well only, limbs he pours on the speed and pinballs across the room to the pair. "Hey Twila! It has been awhile, I been away, y'know. I was er...off doin' important stuff! Heck yeah, I took the Pepsi Challenge! I did it 3,749 times! Y'know, they only let ya do it once. But I was in," he drops his head lower and whispers his big secret, "Disguise!"
Rick Morgan arches an eyebrow at -that-. "Man, I wouldn't have wanted to be around afterward. I bet you coulda made a song out of the different notes you'd be singing. In the key of belch that is." he winks. As Fliptop bounces near he proceeds to lean down and pick the lil guy up, so he can be set on the counter for more eye level with the others.
Fliptop moves so fast that Kyo is accidentally knocked head first into the cookies! Her sudden, started yelp is soon replaced by a lone cabbit's munching as she starts having her fill.
Twila blinkblinks towards Fliptop before smiling again. "Disguse? What did you disguise yourself as, Fliptop?" she whispers...but loud enough for the others to overhear.
Fliptop chuckles as Rick deposits him on the counter. Yep, the little fella is in a good mood tonight. "Well," he begins, looking at Twila with an expression of the utmost seriousness. "I really dinnit disguise myself, just my voice. I went up, y'know, and they said 'Have ya been here before?' n' I said 'No.' and they said, 'Ok.' n' I said, 'Cool.' n' they said, 'You can take the test now.' n' I said, 'Can ya put me up on the table?"
Twila Peterson emits a soft giggle. "And you got in *how* many times just by disguising your voice?" she questions in amusement.
Meanwhile, the bag of cookies still on the floor emit a loud, undignified *burp*. Sheesh, excuse you, Kyo!
Rick Morgan leans over on one elbow then, chuckling as well. "Looks like you had yourself a busy time then Eddie." He snickers, shaking his head once. "Guess you've been kinda out of things lately for the latest happenings huh?"
Fliptop erks as he hears the burp. How he picked that up with his own mouth running, we may never know. He eyes the bag carefully, looking for any signs of movement. Detecting none for the moment, he turns back to the conversation, all smiles. "3,749," he announces proudly. "Heck, I prolly hold the record, y'know?" At Rick's questioning, he shakes his head vehemently until he promptly falls over on his backside. Suppressing another round of giggling he punctuates the event with a vocal, "Nope, 'fraid not."
The first thing to pop back out of the bag is Kyo's cotton-ball tail. Soon after the rest of her follows. Seeing that she's not overly noticed, at least for the moment, she quickly scampers for the sofa to sit, acting as if nothing had been done at all. That can't erase the chocolate from her furry cheeks however, or the trail of crumbs leading from the bag to the couch, or take the cabbit hair away from the cookies left in the bag. Nope, Kyo had nothing to do with it.
Twila offers Rick a silent glance. "Well, Fliptop. Um...I'll be going away for a little while. Little Kyo too."
Seminole enters the room quietly, moving from the hallway and into the rec center. He eyes Rick, Twila, Kyo, and Fliptop for a brief moment as he makes his way further inside. As Sem steps across the room toward them, a grin makes its presence known on his expression. "Hi guys," the reploid emits casually.
Rick Morgan gives Seminole a quick nod in greeting, "Hey Sem.." as he turns back to view Fliptop and Twila once more, nodding at her words towards the little robot. "Kind of some...issues gotta be taken care of."
Kyo-Ohki wiggles her little nose and eyes Seminole with a gleeful "Mei!!", until she remembers that she's supposed to pretend that she's still sulking. And that's what she continues doing. Her chin falls down to her front paws...and she just lies there. But she does wave a floppy ear towards him.
The young woman offers the incoming Seminole a mock salute upon the greeting and offers a, "Hiya, Sem," in return...before eyeing a trail of cookie crumbs in distraction with a blink. .oO(Don't tell me...)Oo. Twila then starts pretending she doesn't notice.
Fliptop's little legs stop kicking and he turns his head slowly to glance at Twila. He barely registers Seminole's arrival as he absorbs the information given to him. "Wha...." he manages to force out, his little eyes scrunching up and brimming with fluid. "You n' Kyo, my donut buddy? Yer *sniff* yer leavin'?" He scoots up off his butt and waddles over to Twila slowly. For a moment, he stands there quietly. The behavior is most unusual for Eddie. Suddenly, he lunges forward and nuzzles against her, letting loose a torrent of Flippy tears. "B-b-but," he stutters through the waterfall, then he falls silent again and proceeds to soak Twila's clothing.
From afar, Rick Morgan lols. Take that! ;)
Seminole nods back to Rick politely and returns the salute to Twila, before noticing Kyo's somewhat sullen expression on the couch below. He awws sympathetically, as he moves over and crouches down near the cabbit. Gently stroking the cabbit's head and back, Seminole looks back up at Twila and Rick. "Place isn't going to be the same while you're gone," he notes in a gloomy tone.
Rick Morgan had only just started to notice the trail of
crumbs elsewhere, and was -just- starting to glance in that
direction when the sudden torrent begins. He blinks and
straightens up, letting his hands slide back, as he decides
indeed Twila is -most- suited for this scenario right now. He
shoulda seen it coming shouldn't he?
Bah, maybe it's cause he's choked up in his own way about it all too. Distracting...you know.
Twila's a bit taken aback from the reaction, although somewhere inside she knows maybe she shouldn't have been. Fliptop's well known for his many emotional and hyperative moods. "Oh, Flippy," the young woman whispers quietly as she bends over to scoop the small suitcase with eyes up within her arms to offer him a hug. "It's just for a little while. I'll be back..." She looks back up towards Seminole while still holding the small mech. "And that's a promise. I'll be missing all of you too."
Kyo-Ohki just stares towards the smaller mech quizzedly, wondering what brought that on, but soon pays it no mind as she hops into Seminole's lap. After all, Mommy's taking care of him right? She then notices Seminole's glum expression as well and pokes him in the tummy with a paw. "Mew?" <Why you two so sad?>
Twila Peterson quiets herself, knowing that didn't come out in the way she wanted. It was more as if she blurted what first came to mind. She draws in a breath to try and steady herself. Wouldn't do to start breaking down *now* would it?
Rick Morgan takes his own, slow breath, slinking back a little further on his seat to observe for now. He's had his own inner issues to address, and lots of long talks with his sis over this. Thusly, no comments come from his direction for now...
Fliptop continues to sob, choking out a flood of broken words. Finally, the he calms down and he stops his convulsing. He sniffles, sighing loudly and looking up at Twila. His face is lick with tears, but he seems to be under control for the moment. "You promise," he asks, his eyes wide, "'Cause it wouldn't be so bad, y'know, if I knew ya was coming back n' all." He snuggles down in her grasp and sighs again, glancing over at the cabbit in Seminole's lap. "As for you, kitty-kitty, I'm gonna save half my chocolate donuts for you, y'know, for when ya get back." His little voice breaks again, forcing Eddie to stop for the moment. Finally, he's able to continue. "I..I mean, you might be hungry when ya get back."
Seminole catches Kyo with experienced reflexes, then moves and sits in the spot Kyo was previously occupying on the couch. He takes up much more room, but the cabbit probably thinks his lap's a lot more comfortable than a couch. Sem continues to pet Kyo, producing a quiet sigh. He looks back up at Rick and Twila, though, doesn't cry. It's emotional for him as well, but he understands the situation enough not to get too emotional.
Twila Peterson responds by giving Eddie a gentle kiss on the top of his crown. "I promise, Flip. I dunno when, but I'll be back. Ok?" She pauses to wipe some of the little fella's tears before glancing over towards her cabbit who's batting empty hair with her paw. "And I'm certain Kyo will be very appreciative of it." Of course, no one may not want to be around Kyo after digesting all those doughnuts. Kyo is hyperactive at times as is. But to have her on a suger rush?? Eddie may have competition!
Ok...by now Kyo-Ohki is beginning to notice *something* is up, although she's not sure what. Little mech-animals are capable of picking up on the moods and atmosphere. She offers a timid "mew" in response towards Eddie before glancing up again towards Seminole. "Meow?"
"I'll be back," Twila tries to reassure them, as well as herself perhaps. "And I'll be thinking of you all here each day I'm away. Besides, can't I'm kind of used to the craziness around here by now, you know?" she comments, her voice wavering slightly now.
Rick Morgan nods at that, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'll be keeping in contact with her..." he offers to the others as well, in a quiet voice. He slowly pushes off from the counter, just enough so he's standing on his own. "Anytime anyone wants to send a message or something, I can always get it through to her as well."
Twila Peterson tilts her head towards Rick direction and nods. "Yeah that he will. And anything I wish to send to anyone here...will go through him as well. Mail carrier...something else...to add to that ever-growing resume huh, Rick?"
Seminole snickers quietly a bit at Twila's comment, though it does sound bittersweet in afterthought to Seminole. He looks back down at Kyo and smiles sweetly, continuing to pet her. "Don't worry, Kyo, you might meet some new people while you're gone," he emits soothingly. Seminole looks back up at the other people, and grins. "Somehow, I think this place is going to get even crazier without you, Twila," he comments.
Fliptop smiles, seemingly calmed down for now. "Ok," He says, the alst of his sniffles dying away. "I'm gonna miss ya tho, y'know? But at least yer coming back, I mean, heck I dunno what I would do if ya were gonna be gone fer good." Eddie nods at the kitty-thing and gestures to the cookie bag. "Hey kiddo, ya can have some of da cookies if ya want, y'know, kind of a goin' away present."
Rick Morgan smirks faintly at that. "Like I said before, sis...I'm gonna need a novel to put in all my skills for a resume. Not that I plan to be applying anywhere else real soon of course." He sighs, and leans forward with elbows on the counter once more, eyeing the empty cookie bag. "Hmmm, I dunno Eddie. I think she already helped herself." He notes with a bit of a grin.
Twila Peterson offers Fliptop a squeeze before setting him down on the counter beside her, but still keeps an arm around him. "Even crazier? That's a bit of a horrid thought. Hope there's a Light Labs left in that case," she grins lop-sidedly in response. "I mean...I finally managed to know this place well enough that I'm not getting lost," she lamely teases before adding, this time to the suitcase-with-eyes, "You have Rock, and Rick, and Zero and everyone else to keep you company Eddie. They'll all be here for you...OK?"
Kyo's eyes go absolutely wide from the offering and she ends up immediately abandoning poor Seminole for her treat. "Mew?? MEW!!" She then dives right back into the bag, disappearing into it, leaving Twila to groan.
At least Kyo doesn't have to pretend to be eating cookies anymore, hmm? =)
"Oh great, she's going to be driving everyone crazy on the ride from St. Louis," she laments, even as quick munching sounds can be heard from the sack. At Rick's announcement Twila rolls her eyes. "I think I'll need a traq before I even near that train..."
Fliptop blinkblinks. "Hey! Why you...." He starts to hop off the table long enough to dispense a little confectionary justice. However, the thought hits him that it might be the last time for a while he can relax with present company. He kicks the air and says, "Aw shucks. You'll need a full belly for the road, huh? Help yerself, donut buddy, k? Eat up." Smiling, he settles back down on his bottom and falls silent.
A quiet but high-pitched beeping emits from Seminole's comlink. He frowns, then leans over to acknowledge it. The Hunter sighs again, then glances around and explains, "I'm on duty soon - I have to monitor Repliforce's attack on Robotropolis." He turns to Twila, and after some hesitation, leans over and gives her a friendly hug. "Take care of yourself and Kyo, Twila. Send my best wishes to your mother," he murmers quietly, though loud enough for the rest of those gathered to hear.
Twila Peterson returns the heartfelt hug with one of her own and gently kisses the reploid's cheek in return. "Take care of yourself to, Sem, kay?" When the girl pulls pack one can tell her eyes are already misting over. "God go with you."
Rick Morgan can't help but smile just a bit at the display before him, as he moves over near where Fliptop has landed on his bottom, kneeling over just enough to pat the little guy's head in a reassuring manner. After all, -he's- staying right? "I'm sure she's more than grateful for the gift lil buddy. Even if she might wind up too full to even move..."
Fliptop smiles big, thinking the thought. "Well, that might make it easier for Twila ta get her in the carrier, right? I mean, if she can't move she can't protest, right?"
Seminole hugs a bit longer, then finally releases as his own expression is awash with a general sadness. He glances over at Kyo for a moment, then pauses. A short glow washes over his head, and before it can fade Seminole's hands have already grabbed his combat helmet from his head. He offers it to Twila with a somewhat approving nod. "Here, take it. It'll let Kyo take a little piece of home with her."
Rick Morgan grins even wider at that, reaching down to touch Fliptop's nose. "Exactly." he says quietly. "So you've just given Twila a bit more of a gift than you realized."
Twila Peterson fingers the helmet within her hands. "You certain, Sem? I'm sure you'll be needing this with you," she says with uncertainty, suddenly concerned.
Fliptop sighs, but issues another brief smile and nods in agreement.
Kyo-Ohki is, unfortunately, too busy eating the yummy cookies to give much notice. All that can be seen from her is her wiggling little tail. Oye, is she going to have a tummy-ache soon!
Seminole nods again to Twila, eyes shutting briefly. "I'm sure. I know Kyo could probably put better use to it while she's away than I could fighting off Mavericks and Masters." Seminole starts to move back slowly, though keeps his gaze on Twila. He's not very big (or good at) goodbyes, so Sem just sticks with what he knows. "I'll see you again."
Twila Peterson then turns her gaze back down to the helment momentarily, a tear already coursing it's way down her cheek. "As I will see you again," she finally manages. She then offers the reploid a mock salute along with a saddened smile. "Until we meet again..."
Seminole returns the salute, a bit more legitimately out of
respect as well as tradition. After that, Seminole simply turns
and exits stage left.
Rick Morgan watches as Seminole makes his way out, and he
slowly stands up once again, giving Fliptop another 'pat' for
good measure. Steps carry him over towards Twila, and he raises a
hand to touch her shoulder, his own eyes moving
Rick Morgan whispers: 'Gonna be OK?'.
Fliptop just remains silent as the full weight of the situation settles heavily on the room. He scrunches his eyes abit, but manages not to breakdown again. He's just not designed for this, nosiree. He averts his gaze from Twila and Rick and smiles quietly at the feasting cabbit.
Twila Peterson releases a small breath as her hands grasp the gift. "Hope so," she sniffs while a hand raises itself to wipe away the wetness from her skin. "Going to be hard."
Meanwhile, after a few minutes have passed, another loud burp emits from the bag. But Kyo doesn't scurry out as she did last time. The animal waddles slowly back onto the carpet and...collapses their on her stomach with a pitful "mew"... <My tummy hurts...>
Rick Morgan braces one hand around Twila's shoulder, and gives her a firm squeeze of encouragement. "I know it won't be easy..." he offers gently, touching his head to hers for a brief moment, before finally stepping back once more. He can only offer so much...which aggravates him in a way, as he wishes he could offer her so much more for that matter.
Twila Peterson stands there, offering Rick a squeeze in return, while her free hand grasps the protective head covering. She then turns back towards the small cabbit all laid out on the floor before scooping her up and into the helment. "That help?" she asks of the animal
Kyo pats her tummy weakly and just...slides back further into the helment. Guess that's...answer enough.
Twila picks up the device with the cabbit inside with her before noticing a certain newcomer, offering him a sad smile in hello. "Hi, Rock..."
Fliptop is sitting on the counter, staring at the floor in an oddly disjointed, and silent, manner. He doesn't really notice Kyo emerging from the bag or moving around. Introspective, the little fella simply thinks to himself quietly.
Rock looks up at Twila, offering his own sad smile in return. "Hi, Twila..." he responds, sounding more than a little sad and down.
Rick Morgan gives a nod of his own towards Rock as he steps in, and thusly moves away to give the others some time to themselves. He sighs quietly, moving to the chair where he hung his jacket earlier, and slowly runs his hand over it, giving Fliptop another glance and a quick, reassuring smile. Hey, she -is- coming back....
Fliptop barely notices Rick's smile, but he does see it. Looking up, he nods slowly. He knows, he's accepted it, but he's still a little down. Still, he doesn't want to pull everyone down further. Rising to his feet, he moves back over to the main bulk of people and settles himself there.
Rock steps forward, proffering a gold-wrapped package out to Twila, "This is for you. Something to remember me... us... by." He looks down at the helmet that TWila holds, and smiles, seeing Kyo there.
Kyo-Ohki mips from inside her small carrier and weakly pokes her head from the top, resting her chin on the rim for a full moments. .oO(Note to self...save SOME cookies for later...Ugh!)Oo. As Twila sets the helmet down, Kyo finds herself slipping back inside. "Yip!" Kyo forces the helmet to roll onto it's side so she can lay down and see more better...
Twila accepts the gift, eyeing it. "Thanks, Rock. Mind...if I go ahead and open it?"
Feedback pokes his head in for a second and looks around the room for a bit. He's just about to leave and try another place when he spots everyone all gathered somewhere. He smiles and then walks over to them with both his hands behind his back. Pay no attention to the small box he's carrying that's wrapped in a glittering green colored wrapping paper. He'd wave to everyone, but he's doing his best to keep the box from falling. So, he just wanders over to see what they're doing, "Hey everyone. How's it going?"
Rock nods at Twila, "I'd like for you to go ahead and open it."
Kyo-Ohki emits a little yawn before poking out of her new hiding place and offering a tiny "mip" to Fliptop. She then tilts her head towards the small gathering, curious now about Twila's new gift. "Mew?" and then urks. .oO(Ow...)Oo.
"Ok," Twila offers shyly as she begins to carefully unwrap the gold from the package, wondering what's inside.
Rick Morgan crosses his arms over his chest, turning back so he can lean against the counter and watch from afar for now. Understandably, he hasn't got -too- much to say at the moment.
Twila Peterson glances up, mid-unwrap and smiles towards everyone's favorite base-blabbermouth. "Hey, Feed."
Inside is a photo frame, with a montage of photos; Rock and Twila at Halloween, dressed as Zero and Megaman; a picture of Rock from before he became Megaman; a pic of Rock in his tuxedo; a pic of Rock in his X armor; one of him in his Megaman armor; one of Rock with Kyo perched atop his head; one more of Rock and Roll together, and in the center, a picture of Rock, Roll and Dr. Light.
Feedback smiles and just watches as Twila opens her present, "Hey Twila. So, this your small going away party? Guess I'm a lil' late, huh?"
Dischord just walks in, looking, well she looks like Disch. She's got some black spots on her that could be smudges of dirt, or greese, or something else, and her hairs even more of a mess than usual. But probably the worst thing (At least to Disch) is the fact she's walking. Anyways as she notices the others in the room, she totally freezes in her tracks just barely inside the room.
Twila Peterson turns back towards the gift as the last of the paper is torn away. She stares at the picture for the longest time, speechless. When she does speak, she answers Feedback with an awkward, "No...not late at all..." She then gazes back up towards the Blue Bomber with tears within her eyes. "Rock, I don't know what to say." But where word's fail, an embrace will do. And that's exatcly what Twila does. "Thank you."
Rock returns Twila's hug, tightly. He doesn't know when he'll see her again. He smiles, and a few tears escape him... more will come later, that's a definite, but for now, he wants to hold them back. "You're welcome Twila..." After a few minutes, he breaks the embrace, stepping back and running the back of his hand across his eyes. "I'm... glad you like it."
Rick Morgan watches silently, giving Feedback a quick nod in greeting, as he finds a seat once more. This is of course one of the harder parts for the whole deal, but something that's got to be done nevertheless. His own time comes later...after all, he can't be greedy right?
Kyo-Ohki blinks a little at the pictures within the framing, tilting her head comically just as it's pulled from her viewpoint. With a hmph she makes it a point to crawl out of her lil cubby hole a lil more before coming to a rest. Her tummy is better now. But it's going to be awhile before she will be able to move about as she normally does. She turns her gaze from Rock, then Rick, Fliptop, Feedback (the funny looking one), and finally her eyes rests on he reploid standing just by the door, offering her a loud, "Mip!" <I'll save some cookies for ya, I pwomise!>
Dischord just blinks again, standing there frozen in shock. Her first thought is cursing that last bouncer for tossing her out before she could make a guy fully regret what he called her. her second thought is .oO(What's with the party?)Oo. That thought is almost immediately followed by Disch looking around and letting her gaze fall on Twila. .oO(Oh that's right! Doc!)Oo. Of course when Disch thinks she realizes what's going on she groans and facepalms.
Twila Peterson pulls pack as well from Rock, but not without offering a tender kiss on his cheek before doing so. It's obvious to anyone nearby she's holding her emotions in check as well, or trying to at least to. She's not doing a very good job of it. But, that's understandable isn't it? "I'll keep it by my bedside while I'm away." She casts another glance towards the photographs as another tear slides down her features. "Wonder if Zero ever got you back for you dressing up as him at that party."
Feedback just stands around smiling as Twila opens her presents. He's just being very quiet for once as he doesn't do anything to spoil or mess up this event. He continues to hold a sparkly green box behind his back as everyone else talks and everything.
Rock smiles a little, returning the kiss to Twila. He chuckles lightly, "Zero hasn't yet... I'm sure he will eventually..." He nods, "That's good. I've still got the picture of you in your green dress by my bed." He sniffs a little, himself, reaching out to use one finger to remove the just-fallen tear from Twila's cheek.
Pi suddenly pops out from underneath a cushion on the couch, oddly, in his hands is... a glass of milk?! he waddles over to the congregation and interjects with a sagely, "Wak."
Michael Eildath walks in from the hallway, quietly (as per usual).
Dischord is just standing there, looking kinda beet up, by the door, facepalming as apparently she forgot to get Twila a gift.
"And how girly-girly you portrayed him? You were horrible," Twila playfully accuses. Not that she was much better mind you...not with those "Stand back evil bad guys, I shall hurt thee" stuff she spouted at that same party...doing her own satirical portrayal of the Blue Bomber. She smiles softly again as the tears are wiped away and looks back towards the others, feeling...well, not knowing how she exactly feels or knowing how to at least put into words. "Hey, guys."
Pi waddles over to Dischord and looks up at her, studying her carefully, "Wak?" he inquires softly, not understanding what's going on, and apparently being in a strange mood himself, drinking milk of all things.
Michael Eildath grabs a Coke from the freezer. "Heya, Twila... sorry 'bout being late."
Dischord just blinks as she hears the Penguin, before kneeling and whispering something to him.
Kyo-Ohki makes her way fully out of the helmet by now and
glances towards the others as well...before just *staring* at
that off looking bird over there. "Miff?" she questions
before slowly making her way down to the floor towards Dischord
and the penquin, still eyeing him oddly. She then nuzzels
Dischord's ankle, purring.
Dischord whispers to Pi: 'The Doc's going away Pi. ... ... all
... stupid ... I ... ... ...'.
Pi looks at Dischord and smiles and hugs her leg and then waks at her softly, finishing his milk and putting it down, and waking again to her.
Twila Peterson offers Michael a dip of the chin. Of course, this little get together wasn't anything that was officially planned...was it? "You made it," is all she can offer before she once more gazes at the picture. My, has their little Rock grown!
Pi whispers to Dischord: 'Wak ... wak wak <What ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...'.
Rock smiles at Twila, sniffling and nodding. He doesn't say
anything, but blinks. "Oh yeah... and there was one more
thing..." He hands twila a small music disc, mini CD.
"I forgot to wrap this up in the gift."
Rock gave you Music Disc.
Feedback grins and then looks around before offering the green box to Twila, "Well, guess that this is for you. Hope you like it."
Dischord hrms and mutters something back to Pi, a small grin
crossing her face.
You see nothing special.
Dischord whispers to Pi: 'Wine. ... ... ... bottle of ... ... me
... ... I could of had ... freak clone flown to ... Dabi.'.
Pi hrms and smiles as well as his beak will allow and nods to Dischord and suddenly reaches into the trash can, rummaging around and pulling out a large bottle and peers at it carefully and then hands it to Dischord, "Wak wak."
Well, since people seem to be giving presents, Maybe Kyo should to? She leaves Dischord's side to scrounge up a piece of blue ribbon and then slowly toddles back with it in her mouth, offering it too her. She may be still sluggish from eating a bit too much, but her systems seem to be adjusting to the chocolate overload.
Twila carefully sets down the picture as she holds the CD within her hand. "Thank you for this too. I'll think of you whenever I hear it," she promises. She's then distracted by Feedback as he gives her something as well. "What's this?" she muses as she takes the wrapped gift into her hands as well. She observes it at first and then begins unwrapping. "You didn't have to, Feedback," she notes as the last of the paper comes off.
Feedback grins and shrugs, "Well, now you tell me. Then again, I think that you'll enjoy the gift, or at least one of the items thats in there. Then again, I could be wrong." Inside the box are two more boxes each individually gift wrapped. One is a red square like box thats big enough to fit a soccer ball, and the other is a smaller blue rectangular box that's around the size of a VHS tape. Well, looks like theres more to open than you thought.
Dischord grins at Pi, and nods, looking around again and frowning as she finally notices the cabbit *meanwhile Dischs player kicks her lag*. Anyways, Disch accepts the bottle, nodding at Pi again, before suddenly vanishing in a shadow.
Twila Peterson whoahs. "Um...ok...could use some boxes..." she lamely jokes. To gain a better grip she sets the box on the counter and begins opening the larger of the two first. "Got creative I see..."
Dischord reappears moments later just a short distance behind Twila, holding the bottle, and patiently (Or as parient as Disch can be) waiting her turn.
Feedback grins and nods, "Well, since your going to be away for a bit. I thought that you could use whats in that red box. Just something to maybe help remember your experiences from now on so you can show your friends later." Inside the red box, which is the larger of the two. There is some paper instructions for the digital video cameras that's underneath all that paper. It's one of those new digital video cameras that's being advertised on all those television commercials.
A video camera. Well, they say a gift often tells of the person giving it. And in this case the saying would appear to hold true. "Thanks, Feedback. I'll make good use of it. Although, I'll leave the high tech snoping to you." She then offers him a friendly hug. "*Try* to stay out of trouble while I'm gone?"
Feedback grins and nods, "Trouble? Why would I want to get into trouble? Glad you like the camera. Now you can bring back lots of videos for us to watch when you get back. Um, don't forget that other one. That blue one's from both me an my bro Shrike. Well, go on, open it."
Twila Peterson puts the gift down by the picture, CD, and helmet and begins opening. "Ok. Guess I'll find out what this one is soon enough..."
Inside the other blue box. There's a pair of datacards inside one with Twila's name on it. And the other with Rick's name on it. Also, there's a small note inside as well.
The note reads: "Just something for you to read while your gone. Oh, and give your brother his. Both me and Shrike hope you two like what's on them. ^_^"
Rock chuckles lightly at Feed.
Feedback just stands there watching as Twila opens the other box smiling and keeping quiet for now.
Dischord just blinks as she tries to look over Twila's shoulder at the gifts, just blinking at some of them.
Kyo-Ohki mews there while on the floor with the peice of ribbon still within her mouth. Glancing back towards the counter she lets out a groan. Too high for her to jump right now...not with this stomach. So, she waddles over towards the Blue Bomber and tugs on the leg of his pants for help. "Yeowph?"
Meanwhile, Twila reveals a grin as she reads the note inside the gift. "Rick," she calls out over to her brother, offering him the item that bears his name. She then turns back towards, Feedback after reexamining her own. "Thanks. And, thank Shrike for me when you see him next?" she asks, suddenly saddened that he isn't there for her to thank herself.
Rock glances down at Kyo, smiling and kneeling to lift the little cabbit, and her little ribbon. "Kyo..." he sniffs, and scritches her under the chin, then kisses her on the forehead.
Feedback nods and smiles, "Will do Twila. Just hope that the both of you like what's on those cards."
Michael Eildath walks over, looking vaguely embarrassed about his lack of a big pretty box. "Well, I really didn't know about this, so I really don't have much in the way of a going-away gift."
Kyo-Ohki nuzzles Rock's neck slightly before leaning forward and depositing the ribbon, one of her finest treasures, over the collar of his shirt, not knowing where else to place it for keeps. Her tongue flicks out as she cabbit-kisses the reploid on his chin...before snuggling.
Twila displays a dip of the chin to the talkative reploid, stating, "I'm sure we will, Feed. Thanks." As Mike approaches she appears somewhat suprised. "I...if it helps any I didn't really know about this either. You were able to come..." she offers bashfully. She doesn't yet notice Dischord behind her due to the other distractions.
Dischord mutters something under her breath, but just waits some more.
Rock smiles at Kyo, tears running down his face. His free hand reaches up to lift the ribbon and carefully put it in his pocket. She hugs the cabbit close, looking across at Twila.
Michael Eildath blinks. "Actually... wait a second." He turns and dashes out the door.
Kyo-Ohki continues to lick Rock's features, trying to wipe away the tears the only way she knows how before rushing her cheek's against his in a gesture of affection.
Meanhwile, Twila is left to stare after the departing Hunter. "Uh...I'll...be here..." she muses with a blink.
Dischord finally speaks up, "Hey Doc! Before I forget, here!" And with that she takes a few steps towards Twila thrusting a bottle at her.
Outside, you hear a muffled yelp, a stifled curse, and the little form of Andante as he zips down the hall, away from where Mike presumably went.
Rock smiles at Kyo. "Don't worry, Kyo... you'll come back with Twila for visits." He hugs Kyo close again, then runs a hand across his eyes.
Twila Peterson hmmms and looks over her shoulder. Well, was perhaps the reason why she got the infamous "Someone's behind you, Stupid!" type feeling. Twila fully turns around and glances down at the bottle. "Thanks, Disch..." she states, reaching out for the container. She then offers her a smile. "I'll miss you too. You take care, OK?" she sniffs.
Dischord nods slightly and tries to smile sniffling slightly as she does. "Oh don't worry about me, Doc. After what I went through with an old friend in Africa these Hunters are a piece of cake to work with. The thing is..." She looks around for a moment, and yells in Kyo's direction, "Hey, YOU! Take good care of the Doc? PLEASE!"
[OOC] Dischord says, "And that's as polite as Disch ever will get. ;)"
Rock blinks as Disc yells at the cabbit in his arms.
Rick Morgan hasn't fallen asleep or somesuch. Nope, he's still been here the whole time, even after taking the datadisk that Twila handed him and putting it away in his jacket pocket so he can have a look at it later. Right now he continues to silently observe as everyone visits with Twila to pay their respects or so-long's.
Kyo-Ohki jumps up startled within Rock's arms, immediately straightening up, blinking. "Meowph?" she questions, not exactly knowing what she may have done now. Why...did she want the ribbon? Kyo glances about her and doesn't have anything to rightly give her. But...wait a sec! Kyo squirms within Rock's arms and then plops herself onto the floor...wincing slightly. She scampers slowly up to Discord and works her bell off the colar. So that's how she kept if from ringing whenever she didn't want to be heard! The cabbit then plops it right in front of the reploid and sits down in front of her, tail wiggling once again. "Mew!" <Hope ya like!>
Twila merely watches, offering the cabbit a small grin after the reploid's outburst. "I'm pretty sure she'll do the best she can, Dischord."
Dischord nods slightly, and sniffles? Yep that was a sniffle. but that's not all. Sudenly she grabs twila and actually hugs her, "I'm gonna miss you, Doc."
Rock looks down at the cabbit, smiling.
And what can Twila do but return the embrace whole-heartily as well? "I'm going to miss you to, Disch," she exclaim with a squeeze. "You need to get in contact with me, just ask Rick. Ok?"
Dischord sniffles again and nods, trying to smile, "Sure thing Doc. One last thing..." Disch actually chuckles as she takes off her earing and offers it to Twila. "Here."
Twila Peterson gazes at the jewelry as it rests within the palm of her hand after slightly pulling back from the hug. "Again, thanks. Hope to see you when I come back."
Dischord chuckles slightly and nods, "Odds are you will. After all even Zero can't tell the difference half the time between me and my freak clone."
Rock smiles, and walks over, lifting Kyo and perching her atop his head, like in that one photo. "I think I'm gonna miss this little fluffball making a nest on my head..."
Twila Peterson closes her fingers around the earring. "Well, you two do look alike...a little." But that's where the similarities end. She then adds semi-seriously, "Just don't kill eacho ther and I'll be happy."
Michael Eildath finally comes back in, holding a small book and a broken cat's collar.
Kyo-Ohki glances down at Rock from her perch before moving the golden bell back onto her color, and then makes herself all comfy and cozy up there. "Meowph! yip yip meow miph!"
Dischord chcukles slightly as she's slowly covered in a shadow, "Ohhhh... I won't kill her. Show her who's the freak around here, sure but not kill her..." And with that Disch just vanishes, not actually saying goodbye.
Twila Peterson lifts up her free hand, bidding somewhat shakenly, "Until next time..." until Dischord is gone. She's left standing there staring for a moment before turning towards the others who are assembled.
Feedback just stands around smiling and watching for now.
Michael Eildath blinks, walking in as Dischord just...poofs. "Hey, um, has anyone seen Andante?"
Twila Peterson shakes her head slowly while casting a glance
towards the familiar scene of Rock and the cabbit before turning
back towards Micheal. "No...I don't think she's in
here..." Or if she is, she's hiding farily well.
The young woman chances a glance down towards her watch, trying
to keep track of the time. Well...teleporting to St. Louis and
arriving at the station shouldn't be all too hard. But...should
at least make it with time to spare. Still, a few moments longer
here won't hurt, will it. But even she knows time is quickly
flying. "She lost?"
Michael Eildath smirks. "It's a he, remember?" He snickers. "Nevermind... umm, I didn't have time to wrap this or anything." What he's holding appears to be a notebook/journal, the cover in an iridescent red and gold flame pattern. "I've had this for a while, but I never got around to using it. Since you gave me a new journal for Christmas, I'll never get around to using this one, so I'd like you to have it... y'know, to keep your thoughts and stuff." Mike ain't good at giving gifts, or saying goodbyes.
Twila Peterson keeps forgetting. She doesn't see the man's cat at all very much. But then, aside from Mike, who does?
The young woman accepts the girl as well, running her fingertips over the cover of the journal. "Thanks Mike, it means alot," she states. She then opens her arms slightly. "Hug?"
[OOC] Rick Morgan says, "Accepts the girl? :)"
[OOC] Twila Peterson says, "GIFT. Bleah. So one letter off.

[OOC] Rick Morgan bahs!
Michael Eildath nods, and hugs Twila. "Thanks, y'know, for always being there to talk to when I needed someone around."
Twila Peterson offers a tight squeeze while within the embrace. "Hey, what are friends for?" she says, swallowing hard. She also offers him a kiss on the cheek after pulling back and then out of the hug. "Take care of yourself ok? Remember that the others are here for you too?"
Kyo-Ohki gently nuzzles Rock's scalp, allowing one of her ears to drape itself lazily infront of one of his eyes.
Michael Eildath nods, and gives one of those mock salutes that Twila always does. "Yes, ma'am!" He smiles pleasantly, going back over to where he left his drink.
Twila Peterson returns the mock salute with a grin. As she brings down her arm she notices her watch again and focuses on the time, with a sigh she glances over towards her dear ole big brother and points to the time, biting her lower lip. She then turns to the others and states, "I got to get leaving in a few minutes...." The girl stands there, gazing towards the group, with tears already threatening to spill over once again. She then walks up towards Rock and gestures Kyo to come down off of her perch. The cabbit mews sadly but otherwise obeys...but not without offering Rock's scalp one final kiss.
"I'll miss you all," she chokes out, "especially you..." With that she enbraces Rock again one final time. "Keep in touch?" she whispers.
Rick Morgan seems to take his cue of course, lifting his jacket from the back of the chair and sliding it over his shoulders once more, already zipping it up in the process. He glances over at Twila and Rock say their own goodbyes again, and heaves a small sigh of his own. For all it's worth, he keeps his expression decidedly neutral right now though...
Fliptop wakes up from his funk, missing all the commotion totally. He does, however, sense the mood shift and he forces himself to his feet and smiles. "G'bye, Twila," he says very quietly, "You too, Kyo. I'll keep those donuts fresh...."
Feedback stands around still smiling and watches as Twila says her good byes. He continues to stand around, smiling like he always does when he doesn't have any idea of what else to do.
Michael Eildath nods. "G'bye, Twila," he says, unusually emotional... well, one of his closest friends is leaving.
Twila holds Rock for a little while longer this time, whispering something within his ear, before pulling out of the embrace. She steps back with Kyo now in her arms gathers the gifts she was given before stepping over to Rick's side. "Take care, all of you."
The young woman repositions what she has within her arms, before once more settling.
Rick Morgan smiles faintly, reaching up to set his hand on Twila's shoulder for a moment, giving a last glance to everyone else as well. "I'll go through the teleporter with you, sis...and see you off." he says gently.
Twila Peterson dips her chin towards him. With her arms full she can't rightly wave so... "Kyo...time to say bye-bye," she whispers.
At that the animal perks up proudly as if to show off. "Mei-mei!" Kyo glances back up towards Twila. <That good 'nuff?>
Twila responds with a nod towards the cabbit. "Ok, ready..." she tells Rick. She offers those gather one final glance and then turns for the door. As she goes, Kyo peeks over her shoulder...watching...even as they depart.
(Ch. A [Hunter-Main]) Rock transmits: 'Goodbye, Twila... *sniff* I'll always think of you, and love you.... take care, and come back to us soon!'.
<Later...>
Twila Peterson and Rick Morgan emerge from the teleporters within the St. Louis downtown area. The train station isn't far away and there is still some time left. Not much mind you, but some.
Rick Morgan moves alongside his sis, helping her out with the bit of luggage that she's got. "Looks like we're on time..." he offers, glancing up and down the magnetic rails to make sure they are indeed early.
Twila Peterson nods as she overlooks some of those same rails, battling some emotion still...especially now. The gifts she had been given since the send off back at base have been worked into her other luggage. So, all she's seen with now are her two suitcases and Kyo's pet carry-on. "Yeah...suppose so. She then glances down at the carry-on where the cabbit is currently sleeping. "Guess all this should be checked in, huh?"
Rick Morgan nods. "I can take care of it..." he says, as he moves to take the other luggage. At the same time, he then reaches into his coat pocket and retrieves a small slip. "Don't forget your ticket either.." he says, handing it over to her. "Can't do without that. I'll be back soon as I get this stuff taken care of." With that, he hefts up all the luggage, being careful of the cabbit's little carrying case as well, as he turns to head off and check it all in.
Twila Peterson nods in return as he momentarily takes his leave. "I'll be here," she muses to herself while sticking her hands, as well as the ticket, within the pockets of her spring jacket. She offers herself a sigh while glancing about the station, eyeing all the various patrons who occupy this station at this hour, feeling some sense of "normal" she hasn't felt in quite some time actually.
A train approaches the terminal and isn't scheduled to stop. It just passes by at a good clip. Slowing down some for safety. Blues teleports in on the other side of these rails from Twila. He can be seen briefly in between cars as the train passes. Once the train is past he is just standing there, scarf flowing in the backdraft. He doesn't break a smile or make any motion at all. He just stares directly at Twila.
Twila Peterson watches the train go past from where she's standing while caught within her private pondering. The briefest glimpse of yellow as the last of the train rolls on by snares her attention for what reason she cannot name. As the transport continues on it's way she finds herself look back towards the android, staring a little at first, for she certainly wasn't expecting him. A hand draws out from one of her pockets and lifts halfway within a wave of some sort, before it lowers again. She seems at a loss for what else to make of this.
Blues raises a hand in return as he begins to approach Twila. He walks slowly and with purpose. Lowering his hand as he nears the lady he just stands and silently stares.
Twila silently regards the android as he makes his way over towards her. There's a silence between them that drifts until the young woman breaks the lull. She offers him the smallest of smiles. But it is forced. The girl is rising through a myrid of emotions about now. "It's...nice to see you. I didn't expect you here."
Blues smirks, "That's exactly when you should expect it." He holds out his hand twoards Twilla palm down. His face remains expressionless, his eyes locked behind that black visor.
"Suppose I should," Twila states. The young woman looks somewhat confused at first but none-the-less reaches out her own hand, this being palm up wondering idly if this is what Blues is expecting of her.
Blues reaches up with his other hand and sandwiches Twila's warm human hand in his cold crimson gauntlets. "I sense this is no temporary venture."
The young woman shakes her head. "I...don't know how long how I'll be gone. It basically depends on how much I'll be needed there. I'll be back as soon as I can, Blues. That's a promise." With that the girl offers those crimson gauntlets a small squeeze.
Rush comes flying toward the... train station, a red dot with Rock atop him.
Blues leans forward uncomfortably and gently kisses Twila on the cheek and whispers, "You will always have ... big brother looking after you." He then ever so quietly steps back.
Rush descends toward the terminal where Twila had informed Rock that she'd be... the robodog lands outside the terminal, the Hunter CO hopping off, and moving inside.
Once more, here some the tears. And with Twila knowing how it's not easy for Blues to show concern or emotion for anyone at all... "That means alot, Blues. Thank you. And if there ever comes a time that you need me, I'll be there."
Blues moves his hand up to where his ear would be and smiles, "Save that sentiment for my brother." He raises his arm up and points to the door that will be momentarily coming through. While Twila's attention is diverted he disappears in a flash before either Rick or Rock see him.
Rock slips inside the terminal, glancing about for Rick and/or Twila. He didn't get to say the last sentiment he wanted back at HQ... so he came here.
Twila Peterson hmmms? and turns to look where it is Blues had indicated. "I don't---" but then she sees Rock entering the midsection of the terminal. When she turns back to where Blues had standing he indeed is no longer there. She offers herself a small sigh. Rock's brother must be a master artist at such comings and goings. Still, she's comforted in what had just now occurred. She turns back towards where she last saw a glimps of Rock and waves a hand to try and gain his attention before obtaining her radio. "Gate 32."
Rock catches sight of the young woman, making his way toward her. Rush follows shortly behind, as Rock walks toward the redhead. "Twila..." he says, rather softly. "I... there's a lot left unsaid... that I couldn't back at the headquarters."
Twila Peterson glances down towards the floor. "Rock, I never imagined how hard this would be..."
Rock nods lightly, reaching up to push a stray lock of his black hair away from his face, before reaching forward to lock hands with Twila, "I know... I knew it would be hard, but... I never realized there would be so much left unsaid, and undone..."
Twila Peterson entwines her hands with Rock's. "Would there be a time when *all* would be said and done?" she questions, her voice just above whisper. "It won't be the same...like this, Rock. But if we write? Keep in contact? Maybe much more will be said?"
"Nothing is ever truly said and done," Rock intones, gently squeezing Twila's hands, "But yes... writing, keeping in contact. It would get much more said..." His voice is barely a whisper as well, sapphire eyes glittering lightly with tears in the light of the terminal.
Twila lifts one of her hands to rest it against the his cheek to wipe soem of the tears. "Not like we haven't exchanged letters before...during my three week stay at the hospital. Although...now I won't be under the influence of medications when I'm writing back."
Rock nods softly, smiling a little bit. "Yeah. And hopefully your mother will be better soon; you can keep me updated on that," he replies. "I'll miss you." Rush looks up at Twila and wags his stubtail. Rock grins a little, and says, "Looks like Rush'll miss you too."
Twila Peterson releases Rock's hands fully in order to lower herself to Rush's level. I'll miss you too, Rush. And know Kyo will too." She opens her arms out fot the robotic canine, smiling warmly. "Come here."
Rush barks, and leeans up on his back paws, dog-hugging Twila. "Ruff!" he barks, his little stubtail wagging madly.
Like so many other times that night Twila offers a firm, yet gentle, embrace to the dog while stroking Rush's back. "I'll miss you alot too, Rush. You take very good care of Rock while I'm away. Make sure he stays out of trouble? And get him to eat his veggies?"
Rush nods, stubtail still wagging madly, like he can understand Twila
Rick Morgan then comes back, holding the tickets that signify what will be Twila's luggage when she goes to pick it up again at her destination. He blinks upon seeing Rock here again, but makes no comment. Hey, he can sympathize right?
A small smirk spreads on his features as he eyes Rush giving his sentiments, holding the tickets up so Twila can see them. "There are your claim tickets..." he says quietly. "It's all safely secured away."
Rush nods, stubtail still wagging madly, like he can understand Twila. On some level, he can, and barks his reply. Rock smiles, at this, and says, "I suppose I shouldn't keep you too much longer..."
Twila Peterson giggles before pulling herself back and kissing the top of the mech-animals crown. It's at that time Rick returns, just as Twila releases Rush and gets back to her feet. She takes the offered tickets and nods towards her sibling. "Yeah...guess I'll be needing those." After placing the tickets carefully into her purse there's a warning over the intercom that Twila's departure will begin normal boarding in less than 10 minutes. She looks back over towards Rock and just has to offer him one final hug before she asks Rick to accompany her inside the gate. "Well, this is it. I love you. Always remember that someone loves you for who you are."
Rock nods softly, reaching out to take Twila's hands in his one more time. "I will, Twila... and always remember that I'm always here for you, for everything, and that I love you too." He returns the embrace, and lifts her chin with his fingers, and gives her a rather soft kiss, short, on the lips, before backing away, and giving a final wave, then turning and heading out of the terminal.
Rick Morgan lets his hands sit in his pockets for the moment, mouth turned upwards ever so slightly as he watches Twila, then turns to slowly accompany her into the gates themselves. "This is it, sis...I know it's not easy at this point. Just...you take care of yourself and all that. And I meant what I said before...I'll make sure it stays safe where you are. Consider this kind of a break from the rat-race and try to relax when you can...alright?"
Twila has to strenuously keep herself from outright bursting into tears. "Take care..." she whispers as Rock, as well as Rush, weave themselves back into the crowds. They are soon gone from sight. She quietly accompanies Rick to the gate. It's a moment or so later of walking before she realizes the cyborg had spoken to her. "I trust that you will. And, I'll try to regain my bearings as much as I can. Have to admit, however. Life would be boring without stress," the young woman replies. "I wish--" But she's interupted by the boarding call for rows 39-50 for car 8. Twila is within row 22. So, her's will be coming up fairly shortly now.
Rick Morgan hmmms quietly, tilting his head up as he hears the announcement, an ironic smirk on his features. "Rest of the world's never got any time for this kinda stuff, huh...?" he says gently. He comes to a stop right next to where Twila will have to board, and turns to face her fully. "I know, sis...I wish too..." he murmurs, and shakes his head. "This is just something that comes up. When you come back, we're going to appreciate it that much more..." he smiles, and raises one finger to gently touch her nose. "And I will call you two...and keep in contact. I promise. I'll visit first chance I get."
At the exit to the terminal, you might note a slight glimpse of the Blue Bomber; when the throng of people passes, he's gone. Looks like he's learning a little from Blues.
"I'll...keep in touch too. Count on it." A lump suddenly lodges itself within the young woman's throat, preventing her from saying whatever it is that needed to be said. Without a moment's hesitation she immediately embraces her brother tightly. "I...I...love you, Rick. You're very special -- especially to me. D-Don't let anyone tell you otherwise."
Rick Morgan closes his eyes, mouth forming a tight line as he returns the embrace in full, chin touching the top of her head. "I love you too, Twila..." he whispers. "You mean more to me than I can ever put to words...and I'm not gonna ever forgot that. I'll always be your big brother...no matter where you are, no matter what."
"And, I'll always be your little sister. No matter when or where," Twila chokes out, and then takes a few moments to regain some form of control. "Nothing's ever going to change that....or the bond that we share."
A rude awakening sounds by form of another announcement. "...rows 21-30 is now boarding for services to Joplin, Rolla, and Springfield at gate...."
But the rest probably isn't even heard.
Rick Morgan squeezes Twila that much more tightly for a few
moments, eyelids misting over, then letting a little bit of
moisture free...but nothing more.
For a few seconds more, he holds her close, until finally, with some inner effort, he straightens up, touching his lips to her forehead. "That's your call...you don't want to miss it," he says gently, hands then moving up to grip her upper arms for a few seconds, before letting go.
Twila Peterson presses her lips tightly as she nods, trying desperately to place a reign on her emotions. In a gesture of affection she tenderly kisses the man's cheek, and then the other, before also taking a step. "Godspeed, Brother..." she bids brokenly. A hand lifts to wave and then she turns. She falls into line with the other passengers waiting to board. The line moves swiftly, even as she reaches into her pocket for her ticket, ready to give it to the attendant when her turn arrives. Before reaching the stand she glances back towards the mechanic and offers a warm smile. At the prodding of one of the patrons behind her she refocuses her Athenian and hands the android attendant her slip. A step forward is taken, and then another. Her frame is soon lost as she disappears from sight.
