My Strategy:
Each card in my deck has a purpose, none is a "red shirt" card specifically.
Everyone knows that each event has a purpose. My 2 Kivas' are to make sure that I get the card advantage and that I can use it in case I am in a crunch. Once, today, I was playing a game and lost my crew. I was at 70 points and my opponent 65. He had 3 cards left. I Kivas Fajo'd him to my victory! Next turn he would have gotten an easy 35 at another mission! I was LUCKY! But I needed BOTH of my Kivas Fajo's.
I have 3 of each classification in my deck because Kurlan is my strong point. I am lacking 1 VIP, but usually they survive, as I keep Gowron safe throughout the game.
I have 3 goals in this deck, and they go hand in hand. Passing Missions, Destroying my opponent's away teams and starships, and Killing Borg. My first goal is to pass a mission, preferably the one holding the Kurlan Nasicose. Whenever opportunity arrises, I attack my opponent's away teams, usually keeping a ship in my hand for a surprise value. After I get all of the classifications, I move to stage 2. I aggressively attack my opponent with the ship that has the Nasicose. If I have Data's Head, I go for their outpost, if not, I attack their ships. I remember that I am invulerable to most space dilemmas, and therefore do not worry one bit about Cyrithians or Borg ship. Sure, Barclay's, Cardie Trap, and Tarellian Plage ships can stop me, but my plentiful Medical should stop that. I hunt down my opponents ship and then complete missions at ease, or else just pass missions in a one turn winning streak. I use to never red shirt, but it has proved effective in the last 7 games, and has caused my 4 victories to 3 losses.
My ships are specifically chosen. I also use the Fek'lhrto kill borg ships. It is an instant Borg Killer with no enhancements necessary, and I automatically get the crew when passing the mission with Kurlan.. But my borg killing strategy does not stop there. The Bortas is equipped with plasmadynes and can destroy Borg Ships, and the Qu'Vat with Data's Head can also destroy ones. The Bortas and Qu'Vat are my mission solving ships. The Qu'Vat can withstand a Borg attack at an outpost with no damage, but cannot hurt the Borg. I have a reason for all three ships, and still end up sometimes getting my ships in late-game!
I have to be very careful about the space mission called "Wormhole Negotiations" It should be very easy for my deck, but a well-placed opponent's outpost could end my fun at that mission. When my outpost is there, especially against a 1 space opponent, I seed A borg ship to stop them while I get the points.
