Captain Carter plans to make an alliance with the Tok'Re and save her dying father.

For those who came in late....
Though rebel Goa'uld Jolinar of Malkshur is dead, her last host Samantha Carter is still able to see Jolinar's memories (In the Line of Duty, Need). Using this information, Carter determines the home planet of Jolinar's order, the Tok'Re. SG-1 travel there hoping to form an alliance and meet with Garshaw (the Tok'Re leader), Kordesh (Garshaw's aide) and Martouf (Jolinar's lover). The Tok'Re view Earth more as a security risk than an ally, reinforced by SG-1's refusal to host the dying Selmak, and detain SG-1 within the Tok'Re's stronghold. When SG-3 are sent to extract Captain Carter so she can be with her dying father, they too are kept prisoner (The Tok'Re, part 1).

Colonel O'Neil finds comfort in having two SG teams present instead of one, but Teal'c warns they are still hopelessly outnumbered and it is impossible to reach the only set of transporter rings. Captain Carter vents her frustration at not being able to be with her father or even to tell him why. This frustration leads her to realise something; the one thing the Tok'Re need most is new hosts to keep their numbers strong. Carter summons Garshaw and asks if the Tok'Re can heal cancer in humans, which Garshaw explains is done all the time. Carter's plan, she explains, is to have her dying father become Selmak's new host. Garshaw permits only O'Neil and Carter to leave, the others remaining as collateral.

O'Neil and Carter explain the plan to General Hammond, who is hesitant; the Tok'Re may not be entirely trustworthy, and in having Jacob Carter become a host they are handing over much knowledge about Earth and its military capabilities. Carter assures her plan is the right thing and O'Neil, although undecided, is leaning towards Carter's plan.

Within the Tok'Re stronghold, a lone soldier reports the Goa'uld System Lords know of their location and are sending two Pyramid Ships to attack them. Garshaw orders the Tok'Re to evacuate, leaving the SG teams without guards.

Captain Carter and General Hammond reach Jacob in his hospital bed, the former finally able to explain why she has refused an offer to join NASA. Jacob is at first skeptical that his daughter travels to other planets, in reality rather than simulations, but as Samantha continues her story Jacob realises it is the truth. Sam further explains she hopes to take Jacob to another world to cure his cancer, but when Jacob asks for the catch General Hammond can only describe it as "a doozy".

O'Neil and the Carters return to the Tok'Re stronghold as the order rapidly remove their posessions for transport to their new homeworld and destroy the tunnels. Though the SG teams are free to go, they are helping the Tok'Re in the spirit of future relations. Samantha leads her father to Selmak's chamber as Jackson and Teal'c lead O'Neil to their gear and explain that the Goa'uld are coming.
Colonel O'Neil theorises that Kordesh has divulged the Tok'Re's location, based on the miniature "teleball thingy" he saw in Kordesh's chambers, an object the Tok'Re do not use as the communication lines are not secure. When Jack explains this to Garshaw, both she and the Tok'Re find Kordesh at one of the vanishing tunnels; Kordesh's host insists that in failing to stop his symbiot, he is as guilty as Kordesh and allows himself to be swallowed by the vanishing tunnel.

Jacob is still trying to fully realise the symbiot-host relationship he must endure if he is to be cured, his confusion further enhanced as he speaks to Lantash and Martouf. Sarouche assures that Selmak is the best-educated Tok'Re, selfless and caring, with a sense of humour that has kept Sarouche amused for 200 years, but warns Jacob will receive Selmak's bad memories as well as the good. Exiting the chamber for a moment due to a weak stomach, Jacob tells his daughter that much as he is overwhelmed by the day's events, he wants to do it: "My only other choice is death, and that is unacceptable."
Selmak interviews Jacob, asking his opinion of the Goa'uld and whether or not he is a good man. Jacob doesn't quite answer the latter, reminding that regardless of how good a man he is they must blend or die. Selmak decides then she likes Jacob and agrees to blending. Selmak warns that she cannot heal Jacob and leave lest either of them die, and in her weakened state Selmak may not be able to heal Jacob. After a final moment with Samantha, Jacob agrees to the blending. Selmak enters through the mouth—the Tok'Re's preferred method to avoid scarring—and Sarouche passes away just before Selmak, in Carter's body, bids a final farewell.

Helping with the evacuation, O'Neil finds a Tok'Re woman carrying a box similar to the one Kordesh had. O'Neil detains the woman and reveals the contents to Garshaw, a communications sphere. The two realise Kordesh has traded hosts to hide, and Garshaw orders Kordesh extracted to free his new host, Kordesh himself to be placed in a vanishing tunnel. Garshaw thanks the SG teams for saving her group "a great many losses", but admits they still cannot form an alliance. Jackson proposes that if the blending between Jacob and Selmak is successful Earth can provide the Tok'Re hosts, which seals the alliance.

With the last of the Tok'Re evacuated to their new base and only the route between Selmak's chamber and the exit destroyed, Garshaw and SG-1 go to collect Martouf and the Carters. But to move Jacob/Selmak now could kill them, Martouf and Samantha refusing to leave them behind. Garshaw and SG-1 reach the Stargate and Earth just as Death Gliders descend.
Selmak comes to, Jacob assuring his daughter that save for "a headache the size of Kuwait", he is fine; even his arthritis has gone. Martouf and the Carters run for the Stargate, dialling Earth at the last possible moment and escaping.
As Jacob muses his new state, Garshaw explains they must leave immediately lest the Goa'uld already know of the Tok'Re's new location. Jackson gives the Tok'Re an iridium box (similar to the one seen in Thor's Hammer) in case they need to be contacted. The Carters exchange last words and Martouf promises to watch over Jacob for Sam.

Commentary by Cyber Predator
I must admit, as soon as I heard that there was going to be an episode with the Tok'Re in it, I knew that Jacob Carter would be invovled, by having the Tok'Re heal his cancer. So I'm ashamed to say that the plot twist where Jacob Carter became host to a member of the Tok'Re wasn't news. What was news, however, was they way in which Daniel was able to seal the alliance between Earth and the Tok'Re, by supplying them with hosts. This little part was only given about five seconds, so it's unlikely that anyone will want to develop another episode around it.

This episode doesn't really sit nicely on its own, since it's designed as part of a feature-length thing with its predecessor.
