Cronar is a giant of a man, yet he has yet to see his 17th summer. A
foundling he was raised by Priests of Tyr, who declared him to be no mere
foundling, but a "Tyrling", a babe conceived by the union of a Warrior
and a Valkyrie. As such he was branded by a magical rune on his forehead.
This rune, the sword of Tyr glows whenever he calls on the power of Tyr to
remind him that those powers must be used in the service of Tyr. Cronar
was raised in an order of paladins known as the Sword of Tyr. They are the
avengers of the god Tyr, dedicated to punish those who violate the law of
Tyr. He is a crusader, the paradox of Tyr expressed in his character,
the chaotic spirit of the warrior maidens flows in his blood, and when
unleashed it is a fury. However this chaotic element is harnessed to the
service of Tyr. Sometimes obstacles to a greater order must be swept aside
in a chaotic flood of blood, tears and pain. Cronar's features will
contort in rage, and he seems to appear as a demon of death when in battle
mode. However when the battle ends, the restorative power of Tyr is
expressed in his ability to lay on hands, and a belief that mercy and
quarter is due defeated foes (unless they prove recalcitrant). Cronar
has a high sense of honor and chivalry, however only foes that show
themselves to be honorable are afforded the full grace of his chivalry,
other foes are treated fairly ruthlessly. Cronar is dedicated to the
service of Cronar and lesser issues are generally beneath his notice (for
example if he sees a part member pick a pocket it will earn his scorn, not
his intervention-however an assault on a maiden will be considered an
offense to Tyr and he would intervene.)
