After several weeks of work, the new Postmaster's Office has been opened
in Viallevale. The final few days have seen frenetic activity as the
workmen try to complete their tasks before the Beltane festival. The old
wood and thatch building has been replaced by a solid stone structure
that doubles as a transport terminus and pele tower. Locals have
wondered at the design, and permit holders drove their wagons through
the great stone archway that runs through it time after time to admire
the decorative brickwork.
A large banner of a white unicorn on green dexter rampant is raised atop
the tower to general cheering from the staff and customers below.
Next to the new Post Office a large notice board has also been erected,
where denizens of the shire can send and collect mail or purchase
permits to travel the king's highway. On it are the latest proposals for
the Amber Light Railway (ALR) and the replies from the Public Works
Dept.
