(Amber City) The latest wave of violence to spread through Amber City has surfaced in graffiti and property damage to many of the new shops being opened by Mahaji natives. Cornershops selling luxury goods like porcelain and native rugs had bricks sent through their windows and slogans like, "Wogs out!" and "Madgies GO HOME!" defacing the store fronts. (Madgies seems to be the racist slur being applied to Mahaji natives).
There's a groundswell of ugly feeling spreading through the city, as many people feel that this is a more subtle invasion, taking jobs and money from the local natives.
"If it ain't Jasra makin' us wash our faces, it's a dirty pack of Madgies stealin' our livlihood," a faceless citizen was heard to utter. "Damn darkies just don't know their place. They all smell funny anyway. Dirty little buggers."
Neuvo Sangre's News Release Offering Sanctuary:
"Nuevo Sangre was founded by immigrants from Rolondae," says Jason in his press release. "They wanted the opportunity to make a new life for themselves and they made the best of it. I think the same lightning can strike twice with the Mahaji. Plus which, the citizens of Amber seem to like the Mahajis as much as they liked my mother -- which is tantamount to an endorsement of the Mahajis!"
Within minutes, Loyalists and Brandites take to the streets protesting King Jason's statement. Carrying icons of Brand and showing his wounds from Caine they carried signs including:
"NO TO CAINE WORSHIPPERS"
"CAINE'S PEOPLE ARE NOT WELCOME."
"KEEP NS REDHEADED"
"DON'T LET OBERON PUSH US INTO THE SEA!"
Protests from Lord Bances of the Great Powers Council, King Brand of Brandenberg, Queen Jasra of Amber, even Prince Bleys of Amber arrive within minutes! Even Jason's disliked Aunt Fiona and his grandmother Princess Clarissa Helgram have telegrams in seconds. Suhuy and his red lion Meneleus send telegrams deploring his decision.
Jason thanks them all for the wallpaper, and chastises his father Bleys. "Sure, when Auntie Fie mails me lovesick cousins wrapped in carpets, you ignore me. When I try to improve the local _cooking_ around here, I get a telegram!"
The fallout from Jason's invitation keeps the Mad Monarch of Nuevo Sangre laughing for days.
