The Card: The Knight of Swords represents the firey part of air. It represents a young man who is active, skillful, and clever. He is also fierce, courageous, and dedicated...but he is not a man who is given to reflection. Ill-dignified, this card represents a young man incapable of decision, who is deceitful, tyrannical, and crafty.

The Character: Herne is a relatively new arrival in Amber, and one with whom my contact has been brief. He seems straight as an arrow, and strong, skilled with a sword and bow and all that. However, he seems like he'd make a wonderful pawn in someone's devious little hands. Rather than being the bow that shoots the arrow, he is the arrow which penetrates and kills...but doesn't have much say in who he's aimed at.
