If only we'd stop trying to be happy we'd have a pretty good time.
            --Edith Wharton

Clearing her throat softly, she looks at Julian with a raised eyebrow then turns to the bartender. "Scotch on the rocks."

The bartender quickly complies and hands her a glass.

Aura sniffs it, decides this is actually a drink and sips it. "It will do," she decides.

Having gotten that out of the way, she turns back to Fiona and Ferris. "I had not realized that Earth-Prime Atlantis was the ancestoral homeland. I shall have to speak to those who were supposed to be teaching me these things when I see them again, it seems"

Fiona nods,"Earth Prime was once a rock in the Abyss as was Amber. Our ancestors travelled to the Void through the Abyss where they made Thelbane. My grandfather, Suhuy built Amber on the former Rock of Kolvir."

            "And Atlantis?"

Julian joins in,"Maybe Caine can just gut them when he's in town."

Aura turns and shakes her head. "Hush," she says softly.

"Grandfather asked me to introduce you to as many folks as I can in the Cousinage." Ferris says cheerfully," Let's get Zariya," he waves to her cheerfully,"Zariya, come and meet Aura."

She makes a note to than Grandfather as she downs her drink and sets the empty on the bar. "Another. Make it a double."

Zariya, who was more or less near the gathering group, returns Ferris' wave with a nod and moves over to join said group. "Greetings," she says smoothly. She looks over Aura with with a thoughtful look, and gives an approving nod, "Who is your tailor?"

"An Atlantean named Sorcha," Aura responds. "A *genius* with a needle. I believe I am going to steal her awy to join me." She chuckles. "I am not certain she will thank me at first."

"Thank you," Zariya replies, preening slightly. "I will pass the compliment along." After a slight pause, she changes the subject, "Do you find Amber to your liking so far?"

Aura sips her drink before answering. "Honestly? I was quite shocked by the condition of the city. I fear I got Alexis' hackles up with my reactions to the conditions."

Zariya nods, "It is not the best that can be hoped for, that is for certain." She shakes her head slightly, "The rest of the land can be quite lovely."

"I wish grandfather would grant me a Duchy too,"Ferris says a bit rueful,"But he says it would be an open door to mischief."

"I was hoping for near the Western or Southern Marches." he adds as a thought.

Fiona gives him a sour look and shakes her head.

"I can see the potential under the destruction," Aura nods then gives Julian a sidelong smirk. "Even if the trees are all the same color."

"Green is the national colour" Julian says blandly.

"That's no excuse for monochromatic forests," Aura says tartly

"Wait until you see Haven's atrocities on nature," Fiona assures Aura,"They even have the genetics of the trees set up to grow garden like and lush and perfect. No need for trimming. Dead branches are reintegrated back into the tree."

            "How crashingly dull," Aura observes.

"Wait until you go to their ice cream shops. Thirty Three flavours and all Vanilla."

Aura looks aghast. "I think I'll pass."
