Battle Zone Technology: Ssi-Ruuvi Capital Ships

• Ssi-ruuvi Swarm-class Battle Droid: The Battle droid is the main assault fighter of the Ssi-ruuvi fleet. It is pyramidal and just two meters across. It is operated by the life essences of two enteched beings held in a storage coil; one essence controls the shields and energy containment, the other the rest of the systems. Jedi who have sensed these tortured souls describe a nauseating sense of twistedness. Although the enteched life essences are normally compelled to obey their remote operators (who send orders from the command vessel using a subspace communications system), Force users may be able to convince the life essences to make their own decisions. The brain wavelength electrical activity which accompanies the life essences into the droid charges eventually set up destructive harmonics causing the vital control circuits to "die" of fatal psychosis. Human energies last longer than any other species in entechment. The battle droid can travel at a high rate of speed in space and at 1,200 km/h in atmosphere and has a maneuverability rating of 10/20, but lacks hyperspace capability. It is extremely maneuverable due to a separate engine thruster mounted on each corner. It tends to bounce around erratically, and aiming at them is tough until one gets used to the flight pattern and their small size. It is powered by primitive heavy fusionables that leave a significant radiation trail and are easily tracked by sensors. Destroyed battle droids leave radioactive remnants. The faces of the pyramid are covered with micro-filament grids which can capture part of the energy of incoming blasts from lasers and turbolasers (not ion cannons, tractor beams, missiles or torpedoes) and siphon that energy back into the battle droid's main generator. Take off 50% of the attack from any energy weapon with a damage rating of 160 or less if capture is successful - over that overwhelms the capability so no reduction. After a successful energy capture, next turn an extra 50 points can be added to either shields or weapons damage, or the speed can be improved. There is a scanner/sensor cluster in the center of each face. The weapons complement consists of 5 rotating laser cannons - one on each corner -- (damage is 150 each when fired separately, 200 when two or three are fire-linked and 250 with four fire-linked), though the battle droid can generally only aim at one target at a time. Battle droids typically target engines to disable so that other Ssi-ruuvi ships can capture prisoners after the battle. These tiny drones take as much fire to knock out as a basic TIE/in fighter. The hull and shield strength ratings are 50 and 65, respectively. Cost is 80 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer to purchase one of these drones. SSI-RUUVI CAPITAL SHIPS

• Ssi-ruuvi D'kee-class P'w'eck Landing Ship: The D'kee-class P'w'eck landing ship is a capital class vessel, not a shuttle. It is 70 meters long, and looks like an extremely pregnant ovoid. Ssi-ruuk doctrine calls for space and air superiority to be achieved before these valuable, lightly armed vessels are deployed. They are sluggish and not suited for space combat. The D'kee lander carries 100 paralysis toxin canisters which are dropped from 40 canister launchers over major enemy population centers and explode at an altitude of 3,000 meters. Under stable atmospheric conditions, each canister covers approximately nine square kilometers. The toxin is effective upon skin contact or when inhaled. It last up to 8 hours and neutralizes all voluntary nerve activity, leaving victims fully alert but unable to move. These ships can devastate a city with just two or three bombing runs. Then each ship lands and disembarks 10 P'w'eck "collector barges" to gather prisoners for the entechment labs on the Planetary Assault Carrier. The D'kee lander carries 10 P'w'eck troops (fitted with neural inhibitors to ensure loyalty, and armed with stun paddles or blasters) to operate the collector barges. It has confinement pens with capacity for nearly 10,000 prisoners (prisoners are stacked with oxygen pumped in to prevent suffocation). It has a relatively weak hull and is not capable of withstanding repeated high-speed atmospheric entries. To compensate, a fine series of heat-conducting filaments line the hull to divert heat to a rear exhaust system. A small portion of the heat is converted to energy stored by a supplemental battery, enhancing the shields. Unfortunately, the filaments tend to glow brightly upon atmospheric entry. The weapons complement also includes 2 turret mounted laser cannons (damage is 200 each) and 6 light ion cannons (damage is 150 each). The D'kee-class lander requires a crew of 12 P'w'ecks (fitted with neural inhibitors) (includes 8 gunners), but with a command skill of 50 can operate with a skeleton crew of 2. Ssi-ruuk remote operators can control this ship using subspace communications. It is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy, and life essences are used extensively in the command and control circuitry. If the ship is destroyed, expect a dangerous radioactive cloud. It can travel at 750 km/h in atmosphere, has a maneuverability rating of 55/70, and is not hyperspace capable. The hull strength is 60. Shield strength is 150 upon landing, 100 upon return. Cost is 150 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer or P'w'eck Ssi-ruuk servant to purchase one of these ships.
• Ssi-ruuvi Fw'Sen-class Picket Ship: The Fw'Sen gunship is 45 meters long and looks like an egg with four relatively small fins on the rear. It is relatively slow and maneuvers poorly. It requires a crew of 13 of the Ssi-ruuvi's P'w'eck servant race (includes 10 gunners), but with a command skill of 50 can operate with a skeleton crew of 2. The Ssi-ruuvi command ship can control the Fw'Sen remotely, communicating by subspace. They typically do the steering and leave the sometimes rebellious P'w'ecks in charge of gunnery. The Ssi-ruuk remote operators can activate neural inhibitors fitted on the P'w'eck crew to stun and disable those who refuse to follow orders. P'w'ecks are weak willed and dull to begin with, so these ships are not models of navel efficiency. The Ssi-ruuk consider Fw'Sens expendable since no Ssi-ruuk are on them. The Fw'Sen has a hyperspace rating of 2, a maneuverability rating of 40/55, and can travel at 850 km/h in atmosphere. The Ssi-ruuk objective is to capture prisoners, and the Fw'Sen has been equipped for that purpose. The weapons complement consists of a ring of 6 automatic turret-style ion cannons built around the hull's vertical centerline (damage is 200 when fired separately, 250 when fire-linked in groups of 2 to 3, 300 when 4 to 5 are fire-linked and 350 if all 6 are fire linked), twin laser cannons at the nose (damage is 200 for the pair fire-linked), and 2 turret mounted turbolasers, one on top and one bottom at the vertical centerline (damage is 110 each). It has extremely light armor (hull strength of 115) and relies on shields for protection (shield strength of 160). The ship is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy. Excessive radiation makes these ships too dangerous to refit for human use, and they are designed for the P'w'eck's lower height, anyway. If the ship is destroyed, expect a dangerous radioactive cloud. Cost is 215 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer or P'w'eck Ssi-ruuk servant to purchase one of these ships.
• Ssi-ruuvi Lwhekk-class Manufacturing Ship: This support vessel manufactures battle droids, weapons, replacement parts, munitions and other supplies, eliminating the need for permanent resupply bases and depots. That assumes, however, that the fleet can secure planets and moons with required raw materials and precious metals deposits. The interior consists of factories and foundries. Doctrine is to keep this fat target outside any combat environments. It is 624 meters long and ovoid in shape. It requires a crew of 300 Ssi-ruuk and 1,126 P'w'ecks (includes 126 gunners) (fitted with neural inhibitors to ensure loyalty), but with a command skill of 45 can be operated by a skeleton crew of 150 Ssi-ruuk and 500 P'w'ecks. The P'w'ecks are assisted by enteched servant droids. There are 7,500 P'w'eck manufacturing workers. Stun traps - lethal to humans, but able to stun P'w'ecks -- are everywhere and can be activated from the bridge or engineering. Main corridors and primary rooms have five meter tall ceilings to accommodate the massive Ssi-ruuk, but there are lesser crawlways and access tunnels for the smaller P'w'ecks. It has a hyperspace rating of 2, a maneuverability rating of 70, and is not atmosphere capable. The weapons complement consists of 3 turbolaser cannons (damage is 200 each) and 24 tractor beam projectors (beam thrust is 200 each) used to pull space debris and other raw materials into the hanger bays which can also be sued to receive incoming ore freighters or to launch the battle droids which roll of the assembly lines. The ship is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy, and life essences are used extensively in the command and control circuitry. It can store 2,000 battle droids. The hull and shield strengths are 150 and 100, respectively. Cost is 250 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer to purchase one of these ships.**
• Ssi-ruuvi Wurrif-class Cruiser: This light cruiser is used as an escort vessel and typically deployed with at least three Fw'Sen-class picket ships for support. It is 400 meters long and ovoid in shape. It requires a crew of 200 Ssi-ruuk and 1,656 P'w'ecks (includes 156 gunners) (fitted with neural inhibitors to ensure loyalty), but with a command skill of 45 can be operated by a skeleton crew of 100 Ssi-ruuk and 700 P'w'ecks. The P'w'ecks are assisted by enteched servant droids. Stun traps - lethal to humans, but able to stun P'w'ecks -- are everywhere and can be activated from the bridge or engineering. Main corridors and primary rooms have five meter tall ceilings to accommodate the massive Ssi-ruuk, but there are lesser crawlways and access tunnels for the smaller P'w'ecks. The ship is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy, and life essences are used extensively in the command and control circuitry. It has a hyperspace rating of 1 (navicomputer is limited to 3 jumps), a maneuverability rating of 45, and is not atmosphere capable. The weapons complement consists of 6 heavy turbolaser cannons (damage is 200 each), 24 ion cannons (damage is 250 each) and 12 tractor beam projectors (beam thrust is 200 each). The tractor beams bring captured craft into a landing bay to gather prisoners for entechment. This light cruiser has storage coils for life essences, but no room for entechment laboratories of its own. It carries 200 battle droids, but it is questionable whether all battle droids are maintained at readiness during non-combat conditions due to the limited availability and life-span of life essences. The hull and shield strength are 150 and 65, respectively. Cost is 250 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer to purchase one of these ships.**
• Ssi-ruuvi Sh'ner-class Planetary Assault Carrier: These ships are the heart of any Ssi-ruuk invasion force, and doctrine places them at the center of the Ssi-ruuvi fleet at all times. The Sh'ner-carrier is a 750 meter ovoid with the rear sliced at a 45 degree angle; remember those 3 headed electric shavers? It is relatively slow, under-powered, poorly armed and protected. It requires a small crew of 60 Ssi-ruuk (includes gunners), but 500 P'w'ecks (fitted with neural inhibitors to ensure loyalty) and 300 enteched servant droids are kept aboard as assistants and for manual labor. With a command skill of 50, it can operate with a skeleton crew of 30 Ssi-ruuk and 250 P'w'ecks. Stun traps - lethal to humans, but able to stun P'w'ecks -- are everywhere and can be activated from the bridge or main engineering. Main corridors and primary rooms have five meter tall ceilings to accommodate the massive Ssi-ruuk, but there are countless crawlways and access tunnels for the smaller P'w'ecks. The Sh'ner-class vessel has capacity for 1,000 Ssi-ruuvi troops. There are six launch bays for the ships 12 D'kee-class landing ships and 12 secondary landing bays designated for captured enemy vessels. The secondary bays are equipped with stun traps, microtractor-beam generators, heavy gravity-conductive nets and paralysis gas to immobilize and imprison enemy soldiers. There are confinement pens for 120,000 prisoners (assuming each gets a square meter), and additional prisoners may be held in the D'kee landers to increase total holding capacity. There are 12 entechment labs to rapidly drain prisoners of their life essence (estimated maximum entechment rate is 5,760 prisoners per day, or 120,000 prisoners in 21 days), and giant storage coil batteries to hold the resulting life energy until needed. The ship is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy, and life essences are used extensively in the command and control circuitry. It has a hyperspace rating of 2, a maneuverability rating of 55, and is not atmosphere capable. The weapons complement consists of 6 ion cannons (damage is 250 each) and 2 tractor beam projectors (beam thrust is 200 each). The hull and shield strength are 100 and 115 respectively. Cost is 300 points. A character must be a Ssi-ruuk military officer to purchase one of these ships.**
• Ssi-ruuvi Shree-class Battle Cruiser: This heavy cruiser is 900 meters long and ovoid in shape. It requires a crew (includes gunners) of 800 Ssi-ruuk and 5,234 P'w'ecks including 234 gunners (fitted with neural inhibitors to ensure loyalty), but with a command skill of 70 can operate with a skeleton crew of 400 Ssi-ruuk and 2,000 P'w'ecks. The P'w'ecks are responsible for maintenance and day-to-day operations. There are also enteched servant droids. Stun traps - lethal to humans, but able to stun P'w'ecks -- are everywhere and can be activated from the bridge or main engineering. The Shree-class vessel has capacity for 350 P'w'eck troops. Main corridors and primary rooms have five meter tall ceilings to accommodate the massive Ssi-ruuk, but there are countless crawlways and access tunnels for the smaller P'w'ecks. The standard model comes with 1 entechment lab deep inside the ship, but 30 more can easily be constructed in just a few days. The Shree-class battle cruiser has a hyperspace rating of 1, a maneuverability rating of 60, and is not atmosphere capable. The weapons complement consists of 24 heavy turbolasers (damage is 200 each), 24 ion cannons (damage is 250 each), 12 concussion missile launchers (damage is 250 each), and 12 tractor beam projectors (beam thrust is 200 each). The Ssi-ruuk desire prisoners, so standard doctrine is to use ion cannons to disable enemy ships and tractor beams to drag them into the battle cruiser's massive landing bays, which are equipped with stun traps, microtractor-beam generators, and heavy gravity-conductive nets to immobilize and imprison enemy soldiers. There are 500 battle droids, which are launched from battle droid bays. It is speculated that not all battle droids are maintained at readiness at all times due to the limited availability and life-span of life essences. Once new prisoners are enteched, powering up stored battle droids to advance the invasion is a priority. The hull and shield strength are 260 and 160 respectively. Cost is 390 points. • These ships have one Ssi-ruuk renewal officer. Renewal is a combination interrogation and hypnotic re-brainwashing for servant species.
• The ship is powered by heavy fusionables supplemented by enteched life force energy, and life essences are used extensively in the command and control circuitry. If the ship is destroyed, expect a dangerous radioactive cloud.
• The Ssi-ruuvi artificial gravity is extremely primitive, and the ship is equipped with reorientation harnesses. When the gravity direction changes, anyone not in a harness is in danger of severe injury and unsecured equipment gets splattered.
