Battle Zone Technology: Neutral Spacecraft

Neutral Fighters/Freighters- Part A:
- Combat Utility Vehicle: The Combat Utility Vehicle designed by BTS Enterprises is a versatile craft with specialized cargo capacity to handle in-flight reloading of missiles and proton torpedoes for starfighters and small spacecraft. It is highly automated and requires a crew of just 1. It flies at 800 km/h in atmosphere,
has a maneuverability rating of 35/50, and has no hyperspace capability. It is unarmed and unshielded (it would have to drop the shields to load, anyway). The hull strength rating is 160. Cost is 80 points.
- Conqueror-class Assault Ship: The elegant Surronian Conqueror-class Assault Ship is 28 meters long, and aerodynamically styled. It is a less well-known but highly efficient warship used by some worlds as a planetary defense ship. It has recently come into vogue among certain high-ranking officials of the Empire as a ship with sleek lines and sufficient firepower, and at least one modified Conqueror-class ship is in use by the Black Sun criminal organization. It requires a crew of 2, but with a command skill of 45 can operate with a skeleton crew of 1. It can carry 1 passenger. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 30/45, and can travel at 1,000 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 2 turret-mounted double laser cannons (fire separately only, damage is 250 each) and 2 front-aiming, fire-linked ion cannons (damage is 200 when fire linked). The hull and shield strength ratings are 200 and 100, respectively. Cost is 150 points.
- CloakShape Fighter: The Kuat systems Engineering CloakShape Fighter is one of countless older starfighters, obsolete but still in use by planetary defense forces, private fleets, bounty hunters and pirates. It was designed for atmospheric and short-range space combat; the power plant is too weak for prolonged space missions. In stock form, it lacks a hyperdrive and is often paired with carrier ships. However, there are innumerable variants and modified versions, including hyperspace capable versions. There are even after-market modification kits. This ship trades speed for durability, and can take a beating and still bring the pilot home. Few surviving CloakShape Fighters exist in an unmodified state, but the version available for purchase here is factory standard. It seats 1 pilot. It flies at 850 km/h in atmosphere,
has a maneuverability rating of 45/45, and has no hyperspace capability. It has two laser cannon (damage is 100 fire-linked or 70 fired separately) and a concussion missile launcher (damage is 240). The hull and shield strength ratings are 190 and 30, respectively. Cost is 80 points.
- Corellian B-wing "Ugly": This junk-pile fighter looks like a B-wing constructed of light freighter parts, and is used by cash-poor pirates. It is 16.9 meters long and seats 1 pilot, 1 gunner and 6 passengers. It has a hyperdrive rating of
2, a maneuverability rating of 65, and can travel at 950 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 1 turret mounted anti-infantry turbolaser cannon (damage is 200) bolted to the undercarriage. The Ugly will do against a lightly shielded cargo vessel, but that's about it. The hull and shield strength ratings are 100 and 100, respectively. Cost is 60 points.
- C-73 Tracker: The Subpro C-73 Tracker is an 11.5 meter long multi-purpose starfighter with a crew of 1. It predates the Z-95 Headhunter, and is useful only against fairly slow and weak targets. Most C-73s are in museums, but a few remain on the fringes of the galaxy. A few pirate groups are known to use either original C-73s or copies. This ship flies at 950 km/h in
atmosphere, has a maneuverability rating of 50, and has no hyperspace capability. The weapons complement consists of a double laser cannon (damage is 200). The hull strength rating is 100, and there are no shields. Cost is 50 points.
- CXR-Tug: This is a short-range space tug used primarily to guide and unload bulk carriers and container ships into dock. It is also occasionally found as a short-range hauler. It requires a crew of 2 to operate, and can accommodate 8 passengers. It can travel at 230 km/h in
atmosphere, has a maneuverability rating of 65, and does not have a hyperdrive (though one can be fitted on for short in-system hops). It has two turret-mounted tractor beams (beam strength of 250 each). It has a hull strength rating of 150, and no shields. Cost is 30 points.
- Deep-X Explorer: A scouting and reconnaissance fighter designed and sold by the Uulshos Corporation. It features twin engines for speed and a "swept" or delta-wing design for maneuverability. It seats one pilot, but has room for 5 passengers. It can reach 1000 km/h in most planetary atmospheres,
has a maneuverability rating of 20/25, and has a hyperspace rating of 1. It has two blaster cannons that do 120 damage (these cannons are not meant to be fire-linked, but if they were they would do 160 damage). The hull strength rating is 80 and it has no shields. Cost is 70 points.
- Firespray-class Patrol/Attack Craft: Built by Kuat Systems Engineering, this is an older model currently found mostly in territorial patrol forces and navies in the more remote areas of the Galaxy. It is 21.5 meters in length. It requires a crew of 3 (includes 2 gunners), and can carry 4 passengers. It has a hyperdrive rating of
3, a maneuverability rating of 25/40, and can travel at 850 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 2 turret-mounted twin blaster cannons (fire separately only, damage is 200 each). The hull and shield strength ratings are 200 and 50, respectively. Cost is 100 points.
- IRD Fighter: The IRD Fighter is the mainstay heavy starfighter of the Corporate Sector Authority. It is faster than the Z-95 Headhunter in space-combat, but less maneuverable and has a wider turning radius. It seats 1 pilot. The IRD Fighter has a bulbous fuselage and distinctive ion power engine package. It flies at 1,000 km/h in atmosphere but is not aerodynamic so maneuverability substantially degrades. IRD pilots
(invariably academy trained, professional and prone to flying in perfect formations) refer to atmosphere as "goo".
The maneuverability rating is 30/65. The IRD Fighter has no hyperspace capability. The weapons complement consists of a pair of long-range energy cannons (damage rating is 320 when fire linked, 280 fired separately) in chin pods. The hull and shield strength ratings are 200 and 80, respectively. Cost is 120 points.
- GSC (GalactaStar Corporation) Prelude Starfire: This space
superiority fighter was designed by engineers of the newly formed Deominian
company, GSC, as their first product offering to any who can meet the price of
the fighter. Of course, being Deominian the company will likely maintain
loyalty to House de Devastator and not sell product to anyone opposing the
Empire. Starfire is a class of fighter that GSC intends to manufacture
after the Prelude has proven itself. The ship uses technology made
possible through the element found only on planets within the Deominian Cloud,
Virillium. This element makes previously efficient electronics seem
obsolete in comparison. The Prelude is 20 meters long, seating one
pilot. It has a hyperdrive rating of 1, a maneuverability rating of 0/15,
and can fly through atmosphere at
1230/kmh in most planetary atmospheres. Weapons for the Prelude consist
of three heavy laser cannons (damage is 320 when fire linked, 220 fired
separately), two medium ion cannons (ion damage is 160 when fire linked, 100
fired separately), and two proton torpedo launchers (damage is 360 each).
The hull and shield strength ratings are 220 and 100 respectively. The
cost is 225 points and may not be purchased at startup. Permission from
Domino (site administrator, not character) must be granted before craft may be
purchased - design by Domino.
- Gallofree Yards Medium Transport: The 90 meter long Medium Transport built by Gallofree Yards looks like a beetle carapace and is, in fact, mostly just shell. It has a cramped command pod located in the rear on top which would be a sitting duck target except that's where the deflector shield generator is located. Modular cargo containers and sealed passenger pods can be quickly fastened onto the open space beneath the hull. When the ship is full, a magnetic shield locks the cargo modules in place and keeps the vacuum out. This ship requires a crew of 6 to operate, but can operate on a skeleton crew of 3 with a command skill of 45. Gallofree transports are prone to breakdown and tend to spend as much time in repair bays as in space. This Medium Transport has a 19,000 metric ton cargo capacity. It has a hyperdrive rating of
4, a maneuverability rating of 75/85, and can travel at 650 km/h in atmosphere. The hull and shield strength ratings are 100 and 50, respectively; however, the hull rating applies to the carapace, not the cargo containers and pods attached beneath it. Cost is 100 points.
- Kara-class Fast Courier: The sleek Kara-class Fast Courier is one of the fastest ships in space. It is manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards. This graceful ship is needle-like with four relatively short but thick, shark-like fins that appear to grow from the main body. The Fast Courier was designed to deliver a few key personnel or small cargo over long distances as expeditiously as possible. Armament is minimal on the theory that few ships will be able to close within weapons range or keep up with its excellent maneuverability, and no one should have knowledge of its flight plan so as to be able to set an ambush. The Fast Courier flies at 1150 km/h in most planetary atmospheres,
has a maneuverability rating of 10/20, and has a hyperspace rating of 0.80. It requires 1 to operate and has space for 3 passengers in its extended pilot compartment (one gets to sit in the copilot seat) and a small, sealed and shielded cargo area that is separated from the pilot compartment by a locked armor door. A button by the pilot's chair will activate a disintegration sequence that obliterates the contents of the cargo compartment. The sequence is also automatically activated by unauthorized efforts to access the cargo compartment. The Fast Courier has a single fixed forward facing laser cannon that is recessed in the hull (damage is 240). The hull strength rating is 160 and the shield strength rating is 80. Cost is 110 points. (design by Admiral
Kanaris)
- Kazellis Light Freighter: The Kazellis Corporation stock light freighter is 28 meters long, and rare. Although the ship showed promise, its Outer Rim manufacturing company failed due to a political disaster on the home office world. It requires a crew of 1, and can accommodate 3 passengers. Cargo capacity is 100 metric tons. It has a hyperdrive rating of
2, a maneuverability rating of 25/25, and can travel at 1000 km/h in atmosphere. It has one turret-mounted quad laser cannon (damage is 210). It has hull and shield strength ratings of 200 and 100, respectively. Cost is 100 points.
- Luxury 3000: Built by SoroSuub, this is the same model of ship as Lando Calrissian's Lady Luck. It needs one crew member to operate it, and it seats ten passengers. It has a swimming pool and a hot tub on the lounge/observation deck, very comfortable staterooms, and an extensive galley! It flies at 1000 km/h in most planetary atmospheres,
has a maneuverability rating of 35/35, and has a hyperdrive rating of 2. For defense the 3000 has a laser cannon in a turret that retracts from its belly (damage is 110). The hull strength rating is 110 and the shield strength rating is 40. Cost is 120 points.
- Mu-class Scout Shuttle: Sienar Fleet Systems based this craft on the successful Lambda-class shuttle design, the Mu-class shuttle is designed for long range applications. The exterior resembles the Lambda, but the single tall central fin on the top has been replaced by two shorter sensor arrays. It requires 2 to operate it and it has space for 14 passengers. It flies at 850 km/h in most planetary atmospheres,
has a maneuverability rating of 45/60, and has a hyperspace rating of 2. Two laser cannons facing forward make up the offensive capabilities of the Mu (damage is 180 when fire-linked or 140 when fired separately). The hull strength rating is 160 and the shield strength rating is 70. Cost is 110 points.
- Nella 342 Light Freighter: The SoroSuub Nella 342 light freighter is 29.7 meters long, and out of production. Despite its durability and reliability, it couldn't compete with the YT-1300. It requires a crew of 1, and can accommodate 5 passengers. Cargo capacity is 50 metric tons. It has a hyperdrive rating of
2, a maneuverability rating of 50/60, and can travel at 800 km/h in atmosphere. It has hull and shield strength ratings of 200 and 50, respectively. Cost is 50 points.
- Preybird Starfighter: Designed by SoroSuub to break into the competitive market of fighter craft, the Preybird is a rugged design. However, until five years ago (BZ time), there have been disputes over the weapons systems and the project went considerably over budget. Five years ago, SoroSuub resurrected the design and began to produce the weapon which was purchased by mercenary forces, planetary defense militias, and shipping companies in need of escort vehicles. The Preybird seats a pilot and a gunner. It travels at 1,150 km/h in most planetary atmospheres but suffers in maneuverability under those
conditions (maneuverability rating is 20/60). It has a hyperdrive rating of 3, but its navicomputer can only keep 5 jumps in its memory. It has two heavy laser cannons (damage is 220 when fire-linked or 180 when fired separately) and two concussion missile launchers (one facing forward, one facing backward; damage is 320). The hull strength rating is 190 and the shield strength rating is 70. Cost is 110 points.
- Pursuer-class Enforcement Ship: Built by MandalMotors and no longer in production, this older model Mandalorian police ship still used by patrol forces throughout the Galaxy. Its main advantage is speed, although it has a formidable weapons package. It is 30.1 meters in length. It requires a crew of 1, can carry 2 passengers and 5 additional passengers in prison cells. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 30/45, and can travel at 1,000 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 2 fire-linked twin blaster cannons (damage is 250 when fire-linked) and two turret-mounted, fire-linked ion cannons (damage is 200 when fire-linked). The hull and shield strength ratings are 200 and 50, respectively. Cost is 150 points.
- Trianii RX4 Patrol Ship: This is a standard patrol vessel used by the Trianii Rangers. It is equipped for exceptionally long patrols and outfitted to allow small family units to serve on tour together. It is more than able to deal with the small-time smugglers and pirates operating among the seven Trianii worlds. It is 33 meters in length. It requires a crew of 4 (includes 2 gunners), but with a command skill of 45 can operate with a crew of 1. It can carry 6 passengers. It has a hyperdrive rating of
1, a maneuverability rating of 45/45, and can travel at 850 km/h in atmosphere. The weapons complement consists of 2 turret-mounted, fire-linked twin turbolasers (damage is 200 when fire-linked) and one 10 hour recycle time, rear-facing ion cannon (damage is 160). The hull and shield strength ratings are 250 and 110, respectively. Cost is 130 points.
- Selonian Hunchuzuc Den Coneship: This homemade vessel looks like a gourd. It seats a crew of 1 and can carry 2 passengers and 1 metric ton of cargo. They are so unreliable that General Solo has recommended that a traveling advisory be enacted in the Corellia region warning that coneships are navigation hazards and should be given a wide berth. It has no hyperdrive,
a maneuverability rating of 65/100, and can travel at 650 km/h in atmosphere. It is unarmed. The hull strength rating is 150, and there are no shields. Cost is 30 points.
