Gregor Jarkov
- Gregor Jarkov was born on the planet of Alderaan just as the Old Republic fell from grace and power was seized by the then - Senator Palpatine. Young Jarkov was endlessly fascinated with the multitude of life abounding on the planet of his birth, and from a very young age it became apparent to his parents that their son was destined to become either a scientist or Planetary Reserve official.
- Gregor chose science. He attended schools, but learned most of what he knew early on by reading texts and files on various creatures. Once he had digested the surface information, he turned to more in-depth files. He began learning about dixoyribonucleic acid, cells and cell growth, viruses and bacteria, and genetics.
- He graduated from from an on-planet college with honors, and went on to achieve notices for his genius in biology and genetics.
- At age twenty-five, he met and married a young Alderaanian woman named Haia N'gama. Using money from published articles and paid seminars, Jarkov purchased a home on the Alderaanian plains for his family. He was a happy man-but nothing lasts forever.
- The Empire, now in full power over most of the galatic systems, brought a space station to the Alderaan system. It was codenamed the Death Star. With a single shot, all of Gregor Jarkov's loves and hopes were swept away.
- While at a meeting on Coruscant with top biologists he first heard the news. He hadn't believed it. He'd boarded a public shuttle, paid the pilot well to fly out of his way to the Alderaan system to see the planet (or resulting asteroid field) firsthand. He never returned. It was assumed he died -- the shuttle may have hit an asteroid, or been set upon by Imperial ships that were on patrol. He was not, however, among the billions of casualties resulting from the destruction of the great planet. He was hiding.
- Jarkov was not heard from for thirty one years. In that time, from a small unpopulated moon in the Outer Rim, Jarkov had been building a company that designed and dealt biological weapons. What had started as a small black market scheme to make money had evolved into a multiacre sprawling complex, complete with a staff of over five hundred people, scientists, and guards, and turbolaser turrets to discourage unauthorized landing.
- Despite the precautions, such an illicit operation was bound to be discovered. The first outsiders Gregor Jarkov met were three Jedi students on his personal terraformed moon. The moon had taken five years of steady (and expensive) droid and human labor to transform it into a duplicate of the planet Alderaan, minus cities, people, and indiginous life. The Jedi had destroyed the world. They had flooded it so badly that the ecosystem was thrown into turmoil, and labor would have to be redirected once more to reshape the face of the miniature planet.
- Gregor's relations with the Rebel Alliance disintegrated when the wing commander of his starfighter groups shot a rebel guard in the back -- all out war had loomed overhead like a supercell.
- A battle did occur, however, at the remote mining colony on Fury 27. A second field test of his new Gray Death was in progress, and the assault boats full of Jedi and rebel commando squads gave him the test he'd wanted.
- The Rebels, much to Jarkov's dismay, carried the day, defeating most of the space forces he committed and the colony was destroyed by bombing raids.
- Jarkov now lives at his base on a moon in the Outer Rim, plotting his next move or living weapon.
- Gregor Jarkov is a 54 year old human male. His hair, once black, is now graying, and is cut short. He wears a pair of spectacles while at work (the lenses improve his vision slightly above the human normal). He is very thin, standing five feet nine inches tall but weighing only 115 pounds. He is handsome by human standards despite his age, but there is a feral look that plays in his blue eyes that discourage most from becoming friendly.
- Jarkov is a recluse. Even on his moon, in his research complex, he usually stays in his office, venturing out only during mealtimes and to work in his laboratory. Since the destruction of Alderaan, Gregor Jarkov has been mentally insane, at some times badly so, and, at others, only shows mild signs of being disturbed. He is usually authoritative, but everything he does seems only to weigh on his shoulders more and more, as though he was attempting to fight off a demon that just keeps following behind him.
- Gregor desperately wants his wife and child to return to life. He wants his planet back. His ambitions are things he cannot have thus, his quandary.
