Alpha Flight No. 1
Steven T. Seagle/Scott Clark
Concept: Canada's mightiest heroes are back - but nothing's the same! Establishing a new direction, a new tone and a new cast, Alpha Flight returns in June with the kidnapping of former Alpha Flight teammates, Heather Hudson and Puck! The mystery deepens when the duo discover they've been nabbed by Department H, the top-secret government agency that founded the team in the first place. Shock follows shock when Heather and Puck meet their new teammates - and altered versions of former friends! It seems a more militaristic Department H is gunning to become a world player on the super-human front and their first step is forming a new strike force. But what happens when the team is pushed past all acceptable behavior? How long will they stay under the thumb of Department H and what will happen if, and when they break free? In the tradition of X-Men and Thunderbolts: Alpha Flight presents a dramatic character study played out against global conflicts and hard hitting heroics that touch upon themes important to all people.
Characters: Meet the all-new Alpha Flight: Heather Hudson, a.k.a. Vindicator, struggling with the loss of her ex-husband, and the loss of her fiance and the newly gained leadership of Alpha Flight. The monstrous Sasquatch, who holds a secret that will shock the team. Puck, the diminutive dynamo who suffers from dwarfism and an unrequited crush on a teammate. Jeffries, able to transform metals, but unable to change his own feelings of self-doubt. Murmur, (new character) who can control men with a mere whisper. Radius (new character), whose impenetrable force field keeps him from being touched physically or emotionally. Flex (new character), the shy half-brother of Radius, who can transform his body into ultra-thin - and ultra-sharp - sheets of organic metal. Guardian (new character?), a man calling himself James Hudson, the man everyone saw die, the man who is now, somehow, only 19 years-old.
Creators: The characters driven stories of Steven T. Seagle, acclaimed writer of Sandman Mystery Theatre, mech with the modern visuals of Scott Clark to produce a compelling and action-packed adventure.
Format: 48-page debut issue of an ongoing, monthly series.
