Background: Born on Mars in 2221 in a very romoute section of the colony and because of that she had learn hard and fast about the working with a team and pulling her own weight. That has also toughed her up.

In school is was a great student, but she enjoy being sports and that were she excel in many different types of sports and they were swimming, diving, and gymtatics. Because she was so good at these sports she earned a four year scholorship to the higgest universely, but she refuse it. She instand joined Earth Force when she was 18, in 2239, this was because she felt that she needed to defend what she live it, and four years later was out in Earth Force. A mouth after she left she was the victium of a nearly fetal sexual attack that left her unable to have kids.

In her first assignment she learn that from her commanding officer, that it is always good to know every one that was on your ship when she began a captain of a ship. One of the few positive things that she pick up during that assignment, the rest of the things that happen to her was negative and had scar her for life. It change her for life, it made her more away of things, less native and that nobody would ever would pull the wool over her eyes. When it dose happen she knows that it happens in seconds.

She fought in the Earth-Minbari War, during that time she was a Lieutenant Commander, and was one of the few survivors of The Battle of the Line. Like many of the Earth pilots that fought in that battle received The Sliver Star of Valor and the medal that stated her involvement of the battle. Because of that battle she stay on Earth for almost four years enjoying what was almost lost in that battle. Enjoying everything that was about that world. Things that she knew that she might not be able to see again.

Then in 2252, with the news of the newer class of ships that were going to be out, that were called Omegas she sing up for them. It took her about a year to get on , and that was the EFS Phoenix, with a new ship she gain a new rank, a full commander. At that time she had a set down a new mandate for her, that she would never leave a man behind no matter what, who they were, or how they treated her. This was because on her first mission when she was in command, she lost all but two of her people one of them was a young brilliant engineer that who name was Chris Lowell. The two of them began close friends. While she wasn't blame for what happen, she felt like her fault and swear that she wouldn't let that happen again to her to anybody that she knew.

Then in 2258, Shara McGurland received what she always wanted, to be a captain of her ship, to have a command of her own. This was due to fact of 6 years of wonderful service and the retirement of another Earth Force captain, that had an open for she got the command of the EFS Isis, another Omega-class cruiser.

In her first year of commanding that ship, she did everything by the book, for she had no other idea how to do that. In the second year she started to change this was because she was starting to get to know the people what they like and dislike despite the fact that she new that things were starting to change. At the time of the shake up in Earth Gov she knew that she was walking a thin line behind two worlds. One the that Clark wanted her to be and the other one was the world that she knew was the right one. To make sure that Clark didn't think that she was pulling one of him, she had her crew run the ship by the book whenever she sent his own people on the ship and when they left the ship she told them that it was to go back to normal.

In the time where Earth Force was taking sides, one for Clark and other one for Sheridan, McGurland refused to take sides in the battle, to make sure that she was not force to do something that she didn't like to do, she put her ship on deep range protroll. She did this because she felt that taking arms up against your own people isn't a nesscary evil that should never be used no matter what and a thing that no captain should go through. She allow her crew to take any side that they wanted and if they wanted to leave the ship to go to the side that they wanted to go to, she would left them go with no questions ask why they did that.

With the news that the war was over with, she brought her ship back to Earth to face the music for what she did that took her about four mouths and she when she was back, it was already the being 2262. It took about a year for Earth Gov to decided her faith, while many of the in the top of Earth Force love what she did, other hated it and saw that it was a clear violation of what she had swore to do. They finally decided her faith she would be the new commander officer of a new ship that the ISA had built that was the ISA Vortex.

Dispoition: On the surface she look like that she isn't a friendly person, because she has a tough as nails look. She useds this look to anybody that she dose not know about. On the inside is a nice person and very proticed of her friends and her family. This is the true nature and the nature that people see when they get to know her. She also a little wirely and sometimes her love for fun get the better of her.
