"On a camping trip I once was on," the spy began, "our leader told us about the lesson of fire." All the others started looked at him. He wasn't one to start talking, especially about odd things. They were all sitting around a bonfire, talking in little groups. "He told us how we each could learn a lesson from fire." They spy went on. "When I looked into the fire, I saw how some small flames grew to be big and hot. I told the leader that the lesson I learned from fire that no mater how small a person is, he can always important. Now I look into the fire and see the same thing." "That's interesting," the commander said. "I also see a small flame getting big, but I see it joining with other flames and finally sort of 'fight' with another big flame for supremacy." "What do you learn from this, Luke?" His second in command asked. "I learn the reason we are fighting, Wedge, and the reason we will win. We are fighting for supremacy, but to get there, we are joining with different people, groups, and sometimes even slightly different causes. We are fighting a 'flame' that didn't join with anything, it just grew. But I think we will win, just like the first flame won over the second." "I see something different," Wedge started softly. "I see how after lighter is poured on the fire, some flames grow higher fast, but extinguish even quicker. But some flames wait a little, bide their time, and slowly climb up. Those flames never go down until the entire fire is stomped out. This means to me that the enemy we are fighting, since they grew very quickly, will go down quickly and be forgotten. But we, we who persist slowly and steadily, we will go on and live." He turned to their friend. "What do you see, Han?" Han paused a minute. "I don't see all that you see. I just see something destructive, something that should be put out quickly. No matter what a person's intentions are when they build a fire, it can still burn you." "But fires also give life. They give light and warmth and let us cook food, do they not?" Luke countered. The Imperial spy slowly inched away, leaving then to argue it out on their own. He now understood how each of them thought. His superiors could use this information to crush these rebels. ~Fin A/N: this came to me while watching a bonfire at camp. It originally was longer, but I found out that that didn't work. BTW, the camp was Moshava, Wild Rose, second 99. Any one from Miri's bunk reading this, e-mail me!!!!! I have none of your emails!
