IS THE REMAKE OF THE THING COMPARABLE TO THE ORIGINAL?

Not in the least. The original was made in 1951 and entitled Thing From Another World. The remake is definately more disturbing. The original has a better plotline. The remake has many more interesting twists. The original is clean cut. The original has horible special effects. The remake has....horrible special effects. It depends on what our looking for. If your'e looking for story, rent the original. If your'e looking for thrills, rent the remake. This is indeed one of the few cases where the remake and the original are equal but different in quality. 1
