NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE SYNOPSIS AND OPINION

Jesse starts having the typical Nightmare on Elm Street dreams. A few of his friends die from the dreams. But Freddy let him live. Why? Well, watch the movie and find out.

This is probably the least well made of all of the Nightmare movies. But that should be expected since it is indeed the first sequel. It's not so much the movie itself that is so bad, for there are definately some good parts. (For example, the bus suspending arbitrarily over the canyon). Its the ending that killed it. Jesse ends up getting possessed by Freddy and goes on a killing rampage. This in itself had great potential and it SHOULD have ended with an exorcism of some sort. Instead, it ended like many possession flicks...with he rather disappointing "willing the spirit out of the body". You know these types. There is usually some dumb girl who has about as much mentality as a filing cabinet screaming "fight him (name of posessed person), fight him!" with the possessed person writhing in agony trying to get the demon out of the body. This movie would have been so much better if an Exoricism involved (providing the priest reads from that "Priest Handbook" in which "Rites to Exorcism" are right between "Rites of Communion" and "Rites of Marriage". All of you who've seen the Exorcist know what I'm talking about.) 1
