The Children's Human Rights Centre of Albania - CRCA in
partnership with Save the Children Albania has today completed
successfully its intensive CRC three day training course with the
participation of judges, prosecuters, police officers, prisons directors
and NGO representatives from Tirana. The objectives of
this training course were: - To raise the
awareness on CRC and about children's rights to professionals such as
judges, prosecutors, police and prisons officers, NGO member etc. - The Training of
professionals in order to improve children's rights towards a friendly
environment in courts, prisons, police stations, detention centres etc. - To establish a
network of professionals as potential trainers in the near future. - To establish
links between the professionals and the NGO members and other partners of
CRCA. - To evaluate the
needs for training of the judges, prosecutors, police officers, prisons
structures etc. During the three days of the training CRCA trainers
offered to the participants a range of modules starting from CRC history,
principals and then to the Rules of UN for the administration of juvenile
justice. Three workshops were organised during the training. Other partners from Ministry of Justice, Ministry of
Public Order, Directorate of Prisons attended the training also. Albania yet does not have a well-established system and
structures of the juvenile justice and until recently the children from
14- 18 in prisons were living at the same prisons with the adults. Little
is known about children in police stations but it is accepted by the
officials of the Ministry of Order that the violence has been used in
different cases by the police officers against children. The training was deemed to be a huge success by all those
who attended. The day ended with the presentation of Certificates to those
who attended the course and also by a visit to the juvenile section of a
local Tirana prison. A list of participants was prepared and distributed to
all the participants of the training. If your organisation is interested
to receive a copy, do not hesitate to contact with CRCA. CRCA would like to thank especially Save the Children -
Albania and its staff for the support, time, effort and ideas given for
the achievement of the results and of the objectives of the training
course. CRCA would like to thank also all the governmental
institutions that participated actively at the training course and also
gave such a great contribution to the exchange of information and also the
needs for further training. For CRCA this was the fifth training course offered to
the structures, which administrate the juvenile justice in Albania. The
previous training has been funded by Soros Foundation - Albania. 13-th International Congress on the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect
