What is an "-oid"? It is a somehow skewed version of the characters we all know, love and put in our decks. This series of articles is devoted to the almost anal listing of these potential Personas and AU personnel not yet available in the game. Just trying to guess at the future, folks. Still warming up to article writing before attacking someone juicy like Data. It the meantime...
GEORDOIDS (rolls off the tongue, don't it?)
Of course, some cards have already been made:
1-Premiere (obviously, not an -oid)
2-FC (this one neither)
These ones though, haven't:
3-Lieutenant LaForge: Another one of the 1st season bridge crew personnas. This Geordi is an OFFICER heavy with Navigation rather than Engineering. Maybe he only has a Staff star as well.
4-Geordi the Fop: In Barclay's holodeck fantasies, LaForge was a foppish musketeer. Like other holograms like him, getting made into a card is, at best, doubtful.
5-Watson: Geordi's Sherlock Holmes holo-Personna. Skills might include mystery solving for those holographic missions I believe might have become attemptable in the now long-dead Holographic Adventures expansion. Download Moriarty perhaps?
6-Geordi the Probe: My favorite Geordoid of all. This is Geordi plugged into a probe from "Interface". He may not work as a Personnel but how about Equipment that allows any Geordi (or android or whatever) to go on planet missions without leaving the relative safety of the ship? The personnel connected to the probe would probably enjoy greater STRENGTH as well, but be limited by possible "synapse overloads". A MEDICAL would have to stay aboard with him or else he might not survive overcoming too high a number of dilemmas. With the arrival of implants in the game, this one is begging to be made.
7-Geordi from "Yesterday's Enterprise": Again, no material here, unless Decipher wants to give +X to WEAPONS and SHIELDS for every "Yesterday's bridge crew" personnel. I don't think they do.
8-Parallel Geordi(s): Unfortunately, this is one episode I don't have on tape. Is there or isn't there a sighted Geordi in "Parallels". I'm not sure. In any case, it's not enough of a change to warrant a separate card. Other sighted Geordis (who couldn't receive implants I gather) include the QRiker-restored LaForge, the one from "All Good Things..." who was cured by the Anti-Time effect, and this next one here from the same episode.
9-Geordi LaForge, bestselling author: A CIVILIAN Geordi and one of the more probable AU personnel since Governor Worf and Bev Picard have already been made. What does he have that a younger Geordi doesn't though? Perhaps a mystery solving skill like Watson (I believe he was a mystery novel author in that possible future).
10-Alan-a-Dale: Another Merry Man who doesn't deserve a personnel card. He might provide a good image for a Music-related Interrupt or Event though. One matching I Am Not a Merry Man! perhaps. (I AM a Merry Man..."
11-Ultraviolet Geordi: Now that we have DNA Metamorphosis, we don't need to find a mechanic for invisibility. Phiew!
12-Phased Geordi: Oops! We do after all! An out of phase LaForge might be unable to cooperate with in-phase personnel, but also be immune to battles and killer dilemmas. He also would only be reportable if Interphase Generator was in play. I'd feel more optimistic about this one if Parem had been like this. Noit much chance now.
13-Left-handed Geordi: This is an obscure one I had completely forgotten when I first wrote the article, but I was thankfully reminded of him by a fellow BBSer. Who the--?! you ask. He's a holographic re-creation of Geordi made by Moriarty in "Ship in a Bottle". Ok, not a personnel, but why not an Event that would, for example, make everyone trade hands with the player on their left creating havoc in multi-player games. Just a thought.
And again, I'm skipping truly uninteresting -oids like Conundrum Geordi or 19th century Geordi, characters that are just not different enough to merit inclusion here (and you know you gotta be lame if I included Lefty over there!) And I've really fought my darker urges in not mentioning a Tortured Geordi 'cuz how many times has he got to be put through the wringer? (He's been tortured by Taibak, the Soong Brothers, Soren...)
