The Urban Legend

The Urban Legends

One day a European dentist fitted some old lady with her first pair of dentures.
After the visit was over he told her to come back if she ever had any problems.

Two months later the woman bursts through the office door gesturing madly,
pointing at her mouth and making gruesome faces.

The dentist realizes what she wants to say is that her mouth hurts so bad she can hardly open it.

Well, he sits her back and pulls out her plate, only to find that it's covered with maggots!
Apparently, the stupid woman didn't know that she was ever supposed to take your false teeth out and clean them .
She had never taken her dentures out of her mouth in the whole time she had them.

(AOL member's name not given) This story can be indirectly verified. I myself fitted a rather senile lady with a set of dentures that she did not remove for six months, and the journal Dental Update recently carried an article concerning oral infection with maggots. The pictures were decidedly unpleasant. (Dental Update Vol23 No9 372-373 Oral Myiasis: a report.)
