I have been a fan of this pairing since before the show even started. I read an article that stated that the engineer was supposed to have a crush on the pilot.
I confess that I can, hazily, see why some people would want B'Elanna with Harry Kim. Her experience with his innocence, her temper with his patience, the meeting of true opposites. But, to be quite frank, I don't think they would work. B'Elanna's forceful personality would end up overwhelming Harry's.
