Two strong willed people. One the captain of a brand new Starfleet vessel, the other the captain of a rag-tag bunch of freedom fighters. Each inspired loyalty from their crew and each would die to save their respective crews (though, they'd prefer to live.)
To save their crews they chose to join forces and that was the start of a wonderful friendship that some (myself included) can only hope will blossom into something more.
