OLDER DARK KNIGHTS INFO
As a low level DK, I would use a rainbowed or blazed high level weapon (like a Manetheren Blade or a Mornar. It won't save but makes the first few levels while you're on much easier. If you want a savable weapon, use a blazed/puissanced/reduced claymore or great maul.
After you reach level 30 as a DK, I would get the Ten Inch Jagged, Black Daizo Knife for beheading and two Blades of Fear. Once Blazed or Demonicized, Blades of Fear are quite good weapons with their rather nifty fear messages.
At level 40, don't bother getting the Sword of Night; the name sounds good, but the sword isn't worth it.
At level 81, change your weapons to the Shadow Axes if you like being oldschool. Nowadays, most people tend not to use them. These weapons were absolutely wonderful and have great messages. If you don't like Shadow Axes, then get Xorlarrin Blades and Blaze them....They are roughly the same.
Around 90-110, you could start to get other weapons. You'll need help. Get the Anglacal from Raven's off of Lord Rastaban. One has a psionic attack, the other an electrical. The Midnight Blades off the Valeris Halflings also have a psionic attack and are decent for lower levels.
I would like to make a brief note on the Unholy Reaver. This is a two-handed weapon available to DKs around level 150 overall. Once you do the quest which takes place in the Underdark, you will obtain a book. After you read the book you will gain a "summon unholy reaver spell." Summon the Reaver onto yourself and it will always be at your side, even in death, making it a very handy tool. It cannot be dropped (and thus can't be enchanted) and has an encumbrance of around 100. It is fairly good although 2 one-handed weapons tend to make a better massacre; you will get a fair number of attacks of it and it does have some interesting attack messages. However, I usually don't use it and don't even have it now after I lost mine to a load error. It is simply not on par with the Paladin's Avenger and thus there is no "technical" advantage-value to having it. But once again, I must point out the wonderful roleplay value of an Unholy Reaver. The name itself is chilling and the aspect as a counterpart to the Paladin's Avenger (although a poorer counterpart) is intended. However, just as the wyverns outclass the Paladin Horse, the Avenger outclasses the Reaver and thus balance is maintained. Basically, it is a part of the Dark Knight Mythos: the Nightmares, then Wyverns, the Occult Spells, the Fighting prowess, the Unholy Reaver... [NB: Four new Reavers are coming into play soon. They will be vastly improved and quest obtained.
Unarmed means you don't have weapons but there is an exception. Although most fighting guilds have a significant unarmed, unarmed is almost never used except by two guilds really because weapons for those fighting guilds are better.
However, Budoka use unarmed but they also have special command attacks ("assault" with combos) that are based off of unarmed. Thus, they do not require weapons. Pirates also use unarmed for their "mug"; when they use their "unarmed weapon," the Cestus (a form of bladed glove saving at level 55 found in Pirate Guild & on Pirates in Iapage), they can get a powerful number of hits and damage. Rangers also have the option of advancing for unarmed instead of sharp and thus hunt with the Claws of the Beast (a spell making their hands weapons) more effectively.
