Ryan is a Kindred hiding in plain sight in Chicago. He has some small measure of fame among the kine as a writer of multi-layered horror fiction and is extremely wealthy. When pressed about his wealth, he claimed the writings were a cover for the investments he's made over the centuries.
Ryan is described as "dangerously likeable" and "a smooth talker". More observant people has come away with the impression that the pleasant facade conceals an evil and ferocious intelligence that may be walking a little too close to the bounds of sanity in an attempt to be aware of everything going on around it. They point to a line of madness that seems to run in his blood-line. Both his Sire and his only known Childe have succumbed to madness...
Ryan is known to possess a high level of Auspex. Feats upto and including Astral Projection and Telepathic Communication have been observed. He has also been known to combine selected use of Presence and hand-to-hand skills to disorientate opponents in melee. In recent years, he has evinced skill in Thaumaturgy - specializing in magics concerned with controlling flames and spirits.
His standing among the Kindred of Chicago before the Lupine assault was relatively high as he had been instrumental in thwarting both a Sabbat assault on Elysium and the depredations of an entity known as "The Poison Man". Since then, he has been content to apparently fade into the background - prompting some to speculate that he plans to stage a death for his public persona in a few years so as not to endanger the Masquerade
Ryan's status in the aftermath of the Lupine invasion of Chicago a couple of years ago was unknown until fairly recently when he turned up on a book-signing tour at the Forbidden Planet in London, England. Rumour has it that he is connected to the elusive "Virtual Bar" in Cyberspace which has become something of an on-line and relatively secure haunt for Kindred, top-flight hackers & crackers and the occasional "Virtual Adept"...
Indications are that Ryan now intends to settle in the United Kingdom for a while. He has certainly been seen visiting the London Elysium from time to time, though his territory as yet is unknown...
