Summers over, and we hope you all had a good one. Its hard to believe that we have to begin to think about winter and the holiday season. We want to make it easy for you to do all or part of your Christmas shopping at Gateway. One way we intend to do this is to again institute our popular kids gift registry. All kids need to do is to look around the store and give us a list of items they would like to receive on Christmas. Parents and friends can than shop with ease by referring to the list. We have gone full steam ahead in stocking the great tabletop battle games Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. We are now Erie's only GAMES WORKSHOP DEDICATED RACK DEALER. October was great for trading card game releases for MAGIC THE GATHERING, STAR WARS, OVERPOWER, and more. Read more about this in the trading card game section. Sportscards are always popular and you really won't find a better selection in Erie than at Gateway. Gateway is continuing our very popular punchcard program. We give away hundreds of dollars worth of free merchandise every month! Our 50% off sportscard and vintage comic specials are more popular than ever. For those of you that don't know, each week comics and cards that begin with a certain letter are 50% off! Read on to find out more about specific areas of interest to you.
Gateway offers a pull and hold service for new comics, free of charge as most of you know, and we have a great selection of back issues. Don't miss our next COMICS BY THE POUND SALE November 11th thru 15th. During the sale we have thousands of comics available for just $1.00 a pound. There's a number of interesting comic stories on tap over the next several months. Ask to look at Diamond comics catalogue to see for yourself.
What a great season we had for baseball this year! Area fans had it made as the Pirates made an unexpected run at the pennant, and the Indians went to the World Series. This is the time that the very best baseball cards are available, including Bowman, known as the brand of the rookie card, Leaf Limited, and much more. NEWS FLASH !! 1998 TOPPS Baseball will feature reprints of ROBERTO CLEMENTE cards IN HOBBY SHOPS ONLY! Packs will have randomly inserted ROBERTO CLEMENTE Memorabilia Madness Cards! Topps 1998 is set to ship the week of November 17th. Topps cards purchased in regular retail stores will not have any Clemente memorabilia cards! This is a major point for you to remember, not only for this product, but others as well. It is common for card companies to include something extra special in hobby packs. FOOTBALL SEASON is in full swing, and as I write this Gateway has 13 different 1997 football card brands in stock and ready to go by the box or pack. Leading the way are the fantastic MOVI MOTIONVISION CARDS. These cards premiered last year to rave reviews, and look even better this year. BASKETBALL is just getting going and we have great cards in this sport also, and we are carrying the premiere edition of BOWMAN CHL HOCKEY CARDS. These will be the absolute first cards of many future NHL stars. We also have Pinnacle racing cards in stock now!
Gateway is Erie's best stocked store for the role playing game Dungeons and Dragons, as well as the popular Dragon Dice game. If you have a vivid imagination and love fantasy involving wizards, magic, monsters, and lots more, than you and your friends should explore role playing games.
Games Workshop is the maker of the tabletop battles games Warhammer Fantasy Battles, Warhammer 40,000, Space Hulk, and more. If you haven't seen these games we will be discussing them and playing some demo games on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND. These games provide hours of fun, and are considered more than just games, but complete hobbies. Gateway is Erie's only "DEDICATED RACK DEALER" for Games Workshop product. We have a great stock so if you don't already play any of the Games Workshop games stop by and check them out, especially on November 22nd, for our DEMONSTRATION DAY.
Right now there is one of the best selections of new releases for TCG'S in a long time. Magic the Gathering has just released TEMPEST, in both booster packs and starter decks. Star Wars has released CLOUD CITY, and Overpower has released CLASSIC OVERPOWER. A great new game DUNE is due soon. This game is based on the books and movie by the same name. Gateway also carries LEGENDS OF THE FIVE RINGS, X-FILES, BATTLETECH, MIDDLE EARTH, SHADOWRUN, STAR TREK (look for FIRST CONTACT soon), and more. We have many earlier releases from these games, so stop here for Erie's best selection. Gateway will hold tournaments in November for MAGIC on the 8th, STAR WARS on the 15th, and OVERPOWER on the 22nd (the same day as our Warhammer event, so stop in for twice the fun). Check in future months for more tournament dates.
