Personal Log This is my most recent story that I wrote and it isn't as awful as the others, but it is long. The stardates are wrong but it is supposed to take place during the seventh season of TNG. I know it screws up Generations, DS9, VGR and First Contact, but it's what I wrote.

Personal log, stardate 5743.4. Another day of Chief of Security on the flagship vessel of the United Federation of Planets, the Enterprise. It's a great ship with enough shields and firepower to impress even a Klingon warrior like me. But I'm not a careless warrior who releases all photon torpedoes and phaser power at a little insult, I have honor and can control my anger. Other Klingons mock me for serving aboard a Federation starship, but it has plenty of things to keep me satisfied. Off duty I can go to one of the holodecks for real Klingon training and tests with the saftey failsafe off, or have a drink from Guinan's secret stash in Ten-Forward Lounge. On duty I also have much to keep me busy. I might be on tactical for a war with the Cardassians, Romulans, or Borg. I could also be escorting an ambassador across the galaxy. Or I might be at my captain's side on an away mission protecting him and his crew against injustice. Today when I arrived on the bridge, everything was as usual. I monitered the ship's sensors and other features and they were all running above normal paramaters, as you would expect on the Enterprise D. When my morning shift was over I headed to holodeck 2 for training excercises to keep my instincts alert. First I fought gloriously on a Klingon program that I designed myself, and then cooled down with target practice for my phaser skills. I got a 100 percent as usual using a type II hand-phaser and a standard phaser rifle. After I finished my training in the holodeck, I was on my way back to my quarters when the captian called me on my communicator. He told me that I should come to the bridge immediately. When I got to the bridge, everyone looked stunned and a little angry. I wondered what made everyone look like this When I looked on the viewscreen, the answer was right there, floating in space, Q. Q is a god-like entity that we encountered on our first mission. He has come back to taunt us many times after that. He can make things appear and dissapear with a snap of his fingers. And now his foolishness has brought him back to mortality. I felt just like everybody else on the bridge in an instant. I let out a low growl, just loud enough for Picard to hear. He turned around and held up his hand and I forced myself to stop. I looked down at the sensor readings and nothing showed up that appeared abnormal. I looked back up at the viewer and the good for nothing piece of flax flew from the viewer and landed at my captain's feet in an ensign's uniform. I reacted quickly and by instinct leaped over the wood railing on the bridge and held that patak... thing. Q immediatly started complaining. He went on and on about how the continuum doesn't understand anything anymore and he couldn't believe that it had happened again. "What game do you want to play now?" asked Picard. "Oh Picard, you think that I'm just a clown, don't you? Well I'm not. At least, not anymore," Q replied. "Did they kick you out again ?" Q actually moved his head slightly toward the floor like he, the great, the wonderful, the most self-centered being in the universe was ashamed. He mumbled, "Well actually they di-" "Why do you always come to us when you are in trouble, Q? Can't you help yourself? Are you really this desperate? If you are coming to us again as a human, you are an unwelcomed stowaway and we will put you in the brig. We will drop you off at the next starbase or the next planet that we get to and have them deal with you!" "You are wrong again Picard. Can't you see that I have changed? I have not done anything wrong here. I didn't come to taunt you, I didn't even come here. I was put here!" "The continuum sent you here? Why?" said Riker, figuring out what was going on. "As hard as it may be for you to accept, I am here to serve you," said Q so quietly that even if you couldn't here it, you knew he did not want to say it. I folded my arms in satisfaction and calmly waited for my captain's smart remark. He always found something good to say to Q. Picard gave his response, "Well you can start by getting off of my bridge and meeting Riker in the conference room for your assignment, and I can assure you that you will have to start at the very bottom and work your way up. It may take a long time though, considering how much trouble you have caused us. Leave now before you get yourself into any more trouble. Mr. Worf, accompany them and make sure our new... crew member behaves." I was glad to do the job. In the conference room, Riker sat at the head and leaned back. He tapped his fingertips together and then came up with the job. He smiled and then announced that he would be Guinan's servant. He told him to get to work right away, and I enforced that. I led him down the hall to Ten-Forward. Guinan was just getting up from a table with a couple looking into each others' eyes with a weak human stare. I'm glad I never fell in love the human way. She looked up and saw Q. Q rolled his eyes but a quick nudge in the arm gave him immediate respect for Guinan, at least faked respect. I simply told Guinan that "this officer" is her new assistant. I asked if she needed him and of course she jumped at the chance. She didn't really need help at the bar, but clearing tables and serving was a little too tiring. I left them alone because I knew that Guinan would attack then. Well, I have to get my rest now. End of entry. Personal log stardate 5743.5. It wasn't a nightmare. Q is still here. But today we found out more information on why he is here. I stopped in Ten-Foward before my first shift this morning and I saw Q washing a table. It might not be so bad after all having Q on the ship. Today on the bridge Picard told us that for now we should treat Q as a normal junior officer, but one who has been known for his little games at the academy. He reassured us that Q would be dropped off at the nearest starbase so if he really wanted to serve on the crew, he would have to go through Starfleet training first. In the afternoon, a lot happened. When we were just traveling at normal cruising speed towards starbase 21, we encountered the Q grid and were forced to stop. Another Q named Q appeared on the bridge and seemed extremely happy. He was not nearly as annoying as Q. Guinan must have been right when she said all of the Q were not really bad. After all, the continuum had kicked Q out. Anyway, Q (the one on the bridge) tried to negotiate with Picard. He was actually a little successful. He wanted to know if the Q continuum and the Federation could co-exist. He said that the Enterprise could be an experiment, with Q on the crew, and Picard having the power of the Q. If both sides agreed, they could talk about it more. Of course Picard hated the idea at first. But after a little persuasion and proof that the Q he had come to know is not a good example of an average member of the continuum, Picard said that he would consider it. This surprised me. If I was Picard I would order that Q off of the bridge immediatly. But after Q1s little speech of negotiation, I guess that maybe we can co-exist with the Q. Maybe. Picard said that he would consider letting the continuum become a member of the Federation and recieve some advantages from that. If we do become friends with the Q, I will help them out and suggest that they each get their own name so they aren1t like inhostile Borg. Picard did not do anything after that and the Q vanished into who-knows-where. End of entry. Personal log, stardate 5743.6. I got to my station on the bridge early this morning, anxious to find out if Picard would have any further negotiations with the continuum. Q appeared on the bridge at about 0800 hours. He also wanted to know what Picard thought. Picard actually decided to give it a shot. He said that he would allow Q to try being an officer on the ship to see if it would work. As I expected Picard did not want anyone on his crew to have the power of the Q yet. I am almost certain that he decided that because of what happened when Q gave Riker the power of the Q a few years ago. During that incident Riker got so full of himself and tried to give everyone 3presents2. I personally think that this is a good idea because with the power of the Q you don1t get anything acompished yourself, the hard way. You just snap your fingers and think that you1re so great. Picard did say that if everything went smoothly with Q on board, he would allow one of his bridge officers to have the power of the Q. And then more Q could come on board for a trial period and a couple natives of the Enterprise could stay with the continuum for a short time doing whatever those Qs do. In a meeting this afternoon Picard tried to decide who he would allow to obtain the power of the Q if all went as well as the new Q had claimed. He was partially successful. At first he considered himself but decided that he would have to be mortal to say if someone having the power would be a good idea. So he considered Dr. Crusher and then Deanna Troi. He also considered Geordi and me. He said that he wouldn1t allow Riker to have the power yet since he already knew what it was like and might be influenced on his decision because of that. Near what seemed would be the end of the meeting, Geordi suggested that Data would be a perfect test. He could turn off his emotions chip during the test, so he wouldn1t be influenced by his emotion and could be skeptical. Data agreed that it was a good idea and is willing to try if we go ahead with negotiations. It seems that we might go ahead because so far I haven1t heard anything from Q except for, 3May I take your order?2 in Ten-Foward. Guinan has no problem with the idea even with her past little problems with the Q continuum. As I said earlier, Picard was only partially successful. We don1t yet know if Data can have the power of the Q, although he might because the Q have offered him humanity before, so why not? I am going to put Alexander to bed now. End of entry. Personal log, stardate 5743.7. It is hard for me to believe, but we haven1t had any trouble from Q during his entire stay here on the Enterprise. He still works in Ten Forward and now also does some routine system checks on secondary functions of the ship. I talked with Troi after she had given him his routine emotional checkup. She said he is finally accepting the fact that he is human and has a new life. He still expects that the Q will let him back into the continuum, but that hope is fading. Troi confirmed that Q is really sorry for taunting us and other species like he had told her. It1s pitiful how small Q feels without his powers. After talking with Troi I went to the bridge for duty. All of the senior officers were on the bridge in case there were any further dealings with the Q. There were. Q appeared a few minutes after everybody arrived on the bridge. He asked Picard about Q. Picard reported that Q was not being any trouble for Guinan or anybody else. He said that he was willing to proceed with the experiment. Q asked who would be the one to recieve the power of the Q. Picard told him that we wanted Data to and he told Q about our meeting about it. Q said that it would work, while bragging a little about how much the Q can do. This Q thinks that he can do anything. The Q will give Data their powers tomorrow morning. Picard ordered that we all get a good rest because tomorrow will be very 3exciting2. I1ll never disobey an order. End of entry. Personal log, stardate 5743.8. It really happened. At 0800 hours Q gave Data the power of the Q. Data stayed on the ship for a couple hours talking with Picard in his ready room. I don1t know exactly what went on in there but I suppose Picard told Data what he should do while staying with the Q continuum. Data dissapeared with Q after the meeting. We spent most of our time waiting while Data was away, each of us coming up with our own ideas of what was happening. After what seemed like an eternity, Data appeared on the bridge without the Q. He said that the continuum was so amazing and different than ordinary space, there was no way to describe it. He said that the power of the Q could be very useful in the Federation if it was not abused. He thinks that the Q continuum and the Federation could easily combine. Data suggested that after time, anyone who seemed like they would not abuse the power of the Q would be able to recieve it. He said that the Federation could be very peaceful in that situation and wouldn1t even have a need for weapons and fighting. Only the Q can destroy themselves. In his explanation, Data basically explained that it would not be a bad idea for people to recieve the power of the Q. As for the part about members of the Q serving on Federation ships (if we will need them anymore), we have had no problems. In fact, Q is not Q anymore. He never causes trouble and has a quiet personality. Some officers have even suggested a promotion for him because he always gets the job done and has a lot of knowledge from exploring the galaxies. Picard also thinks that all is well with this experiment and is contacting Starfleet command soon if has not already. This is certainly a big time of change in the Federation. I think that it is even a good time of change. I don1t think that I really need these powers, but weaker humans could benefit from them. It is getting late now and I have an early shift tomorrow so this is the end of this entry.
