Clive Barker
Clive is a very talented aurthor that brought his works to the big screen in the late 80's with Hellraiser. His blend of chills and just plain odd stuff is what made the Hellraiser series what it is toady-and all the money and fame Clive has today. Here is a list of his past projects:

Stephen King as been frightning us with his books since the 70's and most of the books he has writen have been made into excellent movies.
