Seven of Nine is abducted from Voyager by the 29th Century timeship Relativity in order to stop a saboteur destroying the ship.
Unlike most Trek viewers, I love a time paradox story, and this is truly fantastic, and one of the best Voyager offerings this year. It also doesn't hinge on this being a Seven story either, as it's so cleverly written that it probably could have worked with anyone as the lead. Having said this, Jeri Ryan gives a great performance as a Seven trying to accomplish her mission as best she can, drawing effective distinctions between her various past and future selves.
However, Kate Mulgrew has a tougher job recreating Janeway slightly before we first met her as the Voyager is being fitted at Utopia Planitia, later into the ship's mission during a Kazon attack, and in 'our' present. This ability to use the show's continuity as it has never really been used before is a marvellous idea, and the reappearance of Captain Braxton from Future's End is an added bonus.
The twists in the plot are never obvious, and it is surprisingly easy to follow for all the jumping about in time. Of course, were you to sit down and think about what's going on, you could probably find no end of plotholes (shouldn't people fade in and out of existence when their personal timelines are altered? Why take certain people from certain times, when you could take them from microseconds apart?), but keep your brain in neutral and enjoy this episode for the convoluted, action-packed, exciting story it is.
