Earth: Final Conflict: 'Bliss'

Lili becomes instantly addicted to a Taelon substance that is being used by humans as a drug.

This is actually quite an intriguing story in the beginning, following up the discovery last season that Ma'el was the first Taelon to visit Earth several centuries ago. Since Boone and Sandoval's visit to Dublin where this Taelon's tomb is last year, a cult of Taelonists has arrived, a bunch of monks trying to understand the Taelons while living a life of peace and tranquility.

As Liam and Sandoval attempt to trace the source of the new drug Bliss, Augur locks down his home so that Marquette can wait out the after-effects of the drug and recover. Now, although this leads to some touching scenes between the two as Augur can finally show how much he cares, his attitude seems rather vindictive when a doctor at the nearby hospital has already pointed out that Lili needs drugs to survive, and can't just go cold turkey. This is proved by her near-death at the end of the episode, as Liam rushes back just in time with a cure.

The Lili/Augur sections are the better part of the episode, as although it's good to see Kincaid and Sandoval out in the field together for once, these parts of the story are extremely tedious. Even the person responsible for sending out Bliss is one of a very limited number of suspects. On top of this, Liam gets all the answers while Sandoval stompts about looking annoyed. He's got a CVI and is meant to be intelligent, so why can't he work out what's going on before Liam? Maybe his implant is more broken than we have been led to believe. He even kills a human just for taking a couple of shots at him; hardly reasonable behaviour. Couldn't he just have stunned the guy?

The only other element of interest here is Ma'el's prediction that humanity could die if they continue on their present course, which may set up some future events. Let's just hope some of the many loose ends are followed up in the fullness of time though.
