"And why not begin with ... her!"
In the space of a heartbeat, several things happened at once. First, Injector
aimed his weapon at Luna. Second, Waspinator transformed to beast mode and began flying
towards the young girl at the fastest possible speed he could attain. Third, Injector fired.
Now it was only a matter of time and luck. The next heartbeat found Waspinator silently praying
that he would reach the girl before the corrosive energy that just leapt from Injector's
weapon did.
"Waspinator will save Luna. Waspinator will not let Luna die!"
As the final thought passed his mind, as Luna turned to see her friend and searing death
race toward her, Waspinator truly believed that Luna was going to escape death. In the
third heartbeat, the deadly energy hit Waspinator, burnt through his turned mid-section,
and hungrily engulfed Luna. Her scream was the last thing that Waspinator ever heard from
her mouth. Her outstretched hand and terrified face were the last things he ever saw of her.
Lying crumpled in beast mode on the ground, exposed circuits crackling, Waspinator's wings
folded around himself as he whispered the only thing he could.
"No."
Injector, who had taken all that had just occurred in complete suprise and bewilderment,
strode toward the fallen Predacon. At Waspinator's side, the creature bowed down and asked:
"My brother, why did you just try to save that meat-thing's life? You have been severly
injured. Remain in beast mode so that your injuries might heal more quickly. I will carry
you back to my base."
Injector outstretched his arms, picking up the emotionally shattered Waspinator. With powerfully
enhanced Fuzor wings, Injector began his and Waspinator's accent into the approaching night.
"Soon, Waspinatior, you will be healed. Then, my brother, we will begin the extermination of
these parasites from our planet in earnest."
As the two Cybertronians flew into the cold wind, a burning rage began to materialize in Waspinator's
soul. He would soon heal, and when he did, Waspinator made another silent vow. And
this vow, he grimly determined, would most definately be kept.
