In each being's life, there is a moment of realization. That moment begins a transformation
of self-awareness and sense of destiny. In most examples, this moment breaks forth in a great time of
crisis. It is the beginning of the road to one's ...

Dangerous flashes of Energon danced brilliantly throughout the cavern and around
the two combatants. The crescendo of Energon hum filled the air and threatened to
pierce even the Alien's auditory senses. Scorponok, who had thought he had finally
achieved a momentray victory, had moments ago realized that the victory was nothing
more than a hopeful illusion. Still, he thought, there was one last hand to be played.
With an effort he had not thought possible, the Predacon summoned his last reserves of
strength, self-consciously directing that energy into one last desperate act. The alien,
throughout this entire time, had stood unmoving across from Scorponok. Except for the
momentary squinces elicited from the Energon surges, the creature merely stood back a few
meters from Scorponok's position.
"What are you?" Scorponok asked. "What in the Pit made you?" he asked again.
And then, to Scorponok's greatest surprise, the alien answered.
"I am the first," a pause follwed that stretched an eternity, "but I am not the last."
Scorponok's eyes widened in terror as horrific realization dawned in his tortured mind.
"I have to escape," he thought to himself. For himself, for Megatron, for his fellow
Predacons, and even, he thought selflessly, even for the Maximals.
"If you're any indication of what's to come," Scorponok said as the Energon surges threatened to
drown out his voice," then you've sacrificed yourself today for nothing!" A brave lie, he thought,
but a final statement of hope nontheless. As he finished his words, Scorponok riased his right
arm, pointing it directly at the alien. Before the creature could respond, nine CyberBees ejected
from the Predacon's claw and sped toward the alien. With sickening thuds, the CyberBees
simultaneously pinned the creature against a large vein of Energon and injected it with a new
venom that Scorponok had invented a short time ago. As the alien's body spasamed against the
cavern wall, Scorponok managed to drag his battered body close to the alien's. He pressed his face
closely to the creature's, staring down the eyes that had terrified him so many days ago. The
Energon was reaching critical mass.
Tapping his right claw against the alien's upper-right torso, Scorponok uttered his final words while
also tapping his left claw against a hidden panel on his chest.
"You lose," he whispered into the monster's ears as the world erupted into a brilliant white firestorm.
