Mars

Mars, whom the Greek called Ares, ruled war, battles, military exercises. He found in Venus the rest of the warrior. He left behind him the memory of a cruel and bloodthirsty god. We still call by his name, in Paris, France, the esplanade of the Military School, where the garrison's troops used to train. In the English and French languages, we still use the word martial for military. Also, in the scientific language, the word martial is used as the adjective for the noun iron, Mars's metal.
