Jupiter, Zeus for the Greek, was the first of the twelve great gods, the master of the Olympus. Unfaithful husband of Junon the cantankerous, he had, in his time, dethroned his father Saturn, who reigned before him over the Immortals' Empire. He had two brothers: Neptune, god of the seas, and Pluto, god of Hell. As for himself, he reigned in the skies from where he threw lightning when he was in anger against men. People used to adore him on the top of the mountains and they believed, in Grece, that he was born in a cave on Crete Island. The modern legend tells that he is buried there, on the top of Mount Youktas, that draws his sleeping face in profile.
