(2 Hour Season Premiere) The bewitching series begins its fourth season as a fresh face is added to the comely coven to replace the departed Shannen Doherty. Rose McGowan joins the cast as Paige Matthews, a half sister the Charmed Ones never knew they had. She meets the surviving Halliwells when she feels compelled to attend Prue's funeral. Phoebe seems to be coping, even after a premonition of Paige's death--at the hands of the same demon that slew Prue. Piper, however, is overwhelmed by the loss, and her crisis comes to a head when she nearly breaks down during the memorial service, as Cole faces off against two demonic bounty hunters sent to kill him.

Cole learns that the Source will try to destroy the girls soon, before others believe the Source to be weak and challenge him as the leader of all things evil. As a result, Cole insists Phoebe take her martial arts studies more seriously as Piper instructs Paige in the basics of witchcraft. Paige, however, does not devote her full attention to her studies and while mixing a potion inadvertently switches bodies with Phoebe. Meanwhile, Yenlo, a student of a Zen Master, seeks revenge on his teacher and his master's daughter, Anling, after being passed over to take his masters' place. When mortally wounded, Yenlo, hides in between worlds, eventually wounding and capturing his former master. Anling crosses paths with the Charmed Ones and needs their help to save her father.

Paige inadvertently conjures up a medieval prince who is under the spell of an enchantress, an evil woman who looks exactly like Paige and wants to marry the man so she can produce an heir and rule his kingdom. Elsewhere, Piper and Phoebe ask Paige to move in with them to make it easier for the sisters to battle demons.

Brain Drain (4.07)

Cole brings news that the Source has sent a Chameleon demon to Halliwell Manor to spy of the Charmed Ones. When the Chameleon demon's cover is blown, the Source destroys him and takes his place in an attempt to use the fact that the girls will try to hunt down the Chameleon demon and vanquish him, against the sisters. The Source then manages to kidnap Piper and uses his dark magic to project into her mind, trying to convince Piper that she isn't really a witch but a patient in a mental hospital. The Source ultimately wants manipulate Piper into relinquish her powers to him so he can destroy her and her sisters.

While tracking down a demon that they believe is responsible for killing witches, Cole suddenly proposes to Phoebe. The girls soon learn they didn't get the right demon when another witch turns up dead, and while investigating come across Emma who is hunting a demon to avenge the death of her fiance. Emma reveals that Belthazor was responsible the one that killed her finace, as the girls discover the new Assistant DA is really the demon that has been killing the witches. Meanwhile, Paige brings home a mechanical baby so Piper and Leo can test their parenting skills.
