Welcome to Starfly's News Service, SNS, your source for the news that I think is interesting!
Isabel Gonna Ring My Bell
- Okay, bad pun but big truth. Hurricaaane Isabel is heading for the East Coast with a fury unmatched by even the angriest walrus. Thankfully, our dilligent meteorologists have given us a definite landing point for Isabel...anywhere from North Carolina to New Jersey in the next week. Yes, I'd figure the whole East Coast is a target. Why not just say it'll hit the US sometime in a few days. Heck, tell us it could land anywhere and at anytime, in fact...IT'S RIGHT BEHIND YOU! RUN, ITS ISABEL! Sounds like a good plot for a bad movie. Anyway, I live pretty much dead center of Isabel's target range. I don't think there is any doubt that the storm is going to SLAM the East Coast by Friday. And then its gonna stick around a while to continue beating the ever-loving hell out of us. Thus, at least Wolf Mike, Ibanezax and I will be visiting the beach during the hurricane. Mostly because we're morons, but partly because the power will probably go out and thus it will be impossible to play video games (unless we go to Wolf Mike's where he has a generator). Be ready for a report on Isabel from me if it hits here.

No Really, Thank You for Coming to Wal-Mart
- Playboy wants to focus on another majjjor company for a shoot. They don't want any company either. They're looking for Wal-mart girls. That's right, they're getting women from your friendly neighborhood superpower. Of course, Wal-mart isn't too happy about this, but they don't have any plans to punish any employees that decide to show off their "price check".

Verizon Rocks Against the RIAA
- In a good note for all, ahem, you fillle-shares and your extensive music collections Verizon is fighting against the RIAA's war against downloading music. The company questions the legality of laws giving the RIAA unlimited usage of subpeonas without a judge's signature to crack down on music pirates. It also claims that the subpeonas should not be aimed at people downloading the music, but those putting it out for rebroadcast on their websites. A tricksy subject this file-sharing is. Tricksy indeed. Keep watching for more and more to come out with this event.

The British Hate David Blaine
- David Blaine is spending his days sussspended 40 feet in a plexiglass box in London. Why? Because he gets paid lots and lots of money for his "magic". Londoners don't want him about though, so a good lot of the jolly wankers have begun throwing stuff at him. One guy even tried to cut his waterline off. Bollocks and arse, or whatever. Anyway, a lot of the English citizens just want him gone. Why? Who cares. Its funny to see the British throwing things at David Blaine. He's not a magician...he's...well, I guess stupid is the best description of his "tricks" or "feats of endurance".

The 15th Year of a Simple Blue Man and His Proton Arm Cannon
- Do you remember the days when video gggames were side-scrolling action? When games were simplier. Shoot a bunch of stuff on the screen, maybe a bit of strategy on how to blow up the little monsters that hide in shells. Do you remember when a little blue android stole our hearts as he ventured to save his creator from the evil Dr. Wily? No? He had his own TV show for a while. There are about a dozen games (including a rocking soccer game). Thats right, now you remember...Mega-Man. Well, Capcom is releasing an anthology for all the Mega-man games (Except the little shoot off Mega-man X series). It's due in February and will be played on the Playstation 2 AND GameCube. I can't wait. Nostalgia rules.

Rock Rock Rockin Roll Hall of Fame
- The nominations are out of the Rock aaand Roll Hall of Fame. Most notable (at least to me, since I'm the one taking the time to WRITE all this) are the Stooges, the Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Prince. I hope a good cross section of these guys actually get inducted. Especially the Stooges. We must remember Iggy Pop for centuries to come.

Well, its certainly been a while since my last News updated (July 19, 2003), but I've been busy...no...uh...yeah, I'm just lazy. There has been a good amount of news I've missed. Good thing I don't get paid for this, eh? Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed SNS for today. Hopefully, I can cull this into a weekly bit instead of monthly. Its not long enough for a mere monthly endeavor. I'm hopefully going to have a good report for Hurricane Isabel, if it makes it as far as the Planet.
Until Next Time Starflyers,
