Background

Nyx was born just before her twin brother Isaak on a cold winter's day in the poor section of Minas Ithil just before the sun rose. (Pay attention, kids, this is symbolism)

Both grew up in the slums of Minas Ithil, but fortunately did not turn to crime as their half-brother Cade did. For a while, they were both drifting through random odd jobs. Nyx was a serving girl, a scribe's assistant, and magician's assistant before she and her brother followed Cade into the military.

Both of the twins chose to enter the Gondorian Rangers, but Nyx took the path that led her into the art of "Silver in the Wind". It was a talent that emphasized hand-to-hand combat and knife throwing. Both of which Nyx found she excelled at. She was the only one in her class to even complete the dedicated three year training. She also found herself in love with her teacher.

Nyx and her master began a secret love affair, but it was doomed to failure. Nyx's master was a womanizer and Nyx had been only one of the women he was trying to bed or bedding. Nyx found him in bed with another woman and nearly slew the both of them in rage. It is said the two went missing that night, but no one knows what happened to them. Nyx wonders if she slew them and forced the memory from her mind. She holds herself in the shadows of her cloak out of guilt.

Nyx joined the Fellowship of the Dark Cloud with her brother Isaak in an attempt to keep their half-brother Cade from doing too much damage to the Fellowship. She has found herself favored by the Valar Nienna and is learning to use the abilities tied to being her Avatar. Perhaps someday she will be able to come out of her sad shadows and into the light and joy that awaits her.
