Our story begins with Skin being held by Tores who holds a mighty sharp blade to his throat. Buuuut, it quickly changes as Stan "The Man" Lee shifts gear.

This issue doesn't involve the kids, you'll have to wait till next month for them. Instead, guest writer James Robinson tells a tale from many years ago, when a 16-year old telepath named Emma Frost and a NYPD officer by the name of Sean Cassidy cross paths for the first time. But don't expect a big conversation between the two, oh no. You see, Ms. Frost, here, has just begun her self-training in telepathy as she strolls through a party full of business men, from whom she gathers information psionically. However, she soons strained herself a bit too much and fled to he ladies room.

On the way there, she ran into a Mr. Henry Leland, presumably of the Hellfire Club and also has some nasty thoughts about murder (Note to those unfamiliar with him: Leland was the Black King of the Hellfire Club when Sebastion Shaw began recruiting members. He died, though, while in the Hellfire Club and the X-Men were fighting agains Nimrod, Leland overused his powers and consequently caused himself to have a heart attack. It was a nice try to stop Nimrod, but the machine teleported away and may even be back now as Bastion. That's gotta suck. P.s. - thanks Karl). He offfers Ms. Frost a ride, but by the time she finally departs the rest room, he is not in view. So she makes her exit, taking the information she gathered from several rivaling stock brokers with her. To her dismay, she runs into a herd of excited body guards, who try to take advantage of her. When they begin to get physical, on-looker Sean Cassidy is forced to abandon his watch and take action. But when he arrives, there is no one to be found, aside from a pool of blood.

Emma was saved by a very unlikely hero, one who wasn't even thought to exist in this time and place; the Dark Beast, of the Age of Apocalypse fame. He apparently has no recolection of who he is, what's happened, or any other knowledge of who the man he sees in the mirror is. He only gets flashes of scientific calculations, formulas, equations, etc. So he works in science, a science he doesn't even know the title of.

Enter hero number two; Sean Cassidy. First displaying his mutant sonic scream, he attempts to "save" the young girl from the blue-haired beastie who simply wanted to protect her. And the fight begins, but ends just as quickly, thanks to a bit of hipnotic suggestion from Emma.

After dismissing officer Cassidy's partner and Mr. Leland who dropped in to arrest Emma and her new-found friend, this blossoming young telepath and distraught genius agreed to help one another. In one night, history was made.
