"I was born in Amadicia 22 years ago. My parents were peasants near the city of Amador. When I was 16 years of age, my parents were killed by robbers. I left my home and began to wander. Eventually I reached Caemlyn. Caemlyn was perhaps the most wonderful city I had ever seen. I never stayed in more than one place longer than a week, but for some reason I lingered there for a few weeks. I stayed in an inn called the Good Pony. A man who frequented this inn was a retired member of the queen's guard. He befriended me and agreed to let me to stay on a room of his house if I helped him with some odd jobs. I agreed and we became good friends. He would tell me stories of when he was in the guard. I dreamed of joining the guard. He eventually recommended me to the guard and I left to train."
"In the guard I was learned everything that they would teach me, sword fighting, several hand-to-hand styles, fighting from horseback, I never spent enough time on one thing to become a master of it. I did become proficient in many of these areas. Now I am very good with the sword and fighting from horseback. I still have trouble with some styles of hand-to-hand fighting. One day I felt something pulling me and I decided to leave the service of the queen. It may have been the hardest thing I had ever done. I loved Andor as my own land and Caemlyn was the place where I felt most at home. I was drawn here to Tar Valon."
