Cursiter:

For most of the previous decade the port of Cursiter has been part of King Hesterus' empire. For many years before his troops actually took control he had effectively been governing Cursiter through the Council of Five which comprised mainly rich Destuites and had been established in order to placate the undead king across the seas. It wasn't until AE 906 when Hesterus' legions arrived largely unopposed in Cursiter that he formally took up the reins of power.

Once Hesterus was officially installed as over-lord of Cursiter he was quick to outlaw the popular Suoconan faith and to heavily supress the faiths of Somol and Dianodus, throwing Dianodia priest Ithran into Cursiter Keep. In later years an accomdation was reached with these last two faiths after a popular rebellion nearly took the city from Hesturus but Suocona was given no reprieve and the great Temple of Love was reconsecrated as the new Renchu temple.

The reason for Hesterus' move soon became clear when he added several thousand Cursiter conscripts to his armies and marched on Darhan. Thankfully for the free peoples of the North West the domino effect did not quite work and a brave resistance in the forest city halted Hesterus' advance. But for this it would have been very likely that all the region's city-states would have then fallen one by one to the ever growing evil Empire...

Several years after assuming power in Cursiter King Hesterus appointed a fellow vampire as prince of the City. Prince Elkan has proved to be an able ruler, harsh but not wasteful. He was given the honour of the princedom for his part in bearing The Sword of Sahmen north from his homelands in Southern Erythria during the Great Exodus that followed the noman invasion of Los..

Although Cursiter is a drab and lifeless place compared to what it was in its heyday the town still retains a certain charm that the Sigismundians have not been quite able to stamp out.

However in AE 915 Hesterus was destroyed in Tulak by his old enemy the Magus Valdrad. Sigismund's richest and most ruthless merchant, Silesia, emerged from the competing factions to take the throne. King Silesia came to power thanks to Renchuite in-fighting, his entrance to the palace was over the corpse of Renchu priest Orton Babychunks, slain by men under the command of Renchu hero Slanter Magicstorm. He rules now with the grudging support of the Renchu church with Slanter Magicstorm as prince, married to his unlovely daughter Ghiselle.
