Bisha:

The city of Bisha has recently come under the rule of Duke Chevalier. The cosmopolitan port had, up until this new incumbent, been governed by a General Synod comprising religious leaders and certain nobles whose status dates back to the days of the Bishan Kings more than a hundred years ago.

Bisha was once the centre of a large empire that sprawled across the plains to the east reaching out past the Nox hills almost to the distant Matterak range. When the gold in the Nox hills was exhausted the empire followed the same collapse that had previously overtaken the rest of the northman conquests and the monarchy soon followed.

Over the last decade the squabbling within the Synod, primarily between the Haquar-Somol axis and the Corgulian-Morana alliance, reached such a pitch that it was paralysing the city and leaving Bisha vulnerable. An effort was made to find the heir to the Bishan throne in the hope that some descendant of the last traces of monarchy to be spirited from the war torn city might be found. Agents of the Corgul church, first Sir Weapon and later Sir Hetherlam, were key to progressing this hunt.

The rightful king of Bisha now rules over the island kingdom of Trefato, a Corgulian state in the Serpent Isles. King Tarka was not overly interested in relocating to the mainland and instead chose to reward with the Dukedom of Bisha the man whose private army and deft axe work secured the throne of Trefato for him and bought to an end a long bloody Trefatoan civil war.

Duke Chevalier is an Orthian with a bloodstained past spent in the service of the vampire king Hesterus. He has the backing of Bisha's priests and has thus far proved an even handed ruler. His stated intention is to restore the city to the glory of Empire and already the Western Stoney (sic) mountains have been annexed by Bishan troops.
