FACT FILE: AE-304 Survival Vest Pack
The A-304 Survival Vest Pack is a unit worn over the standard
flight suit. The main unit is an emergency Life Support generator. It is
worn in all Aerospace vehicles even though life support is available in
all Federation vehicles. Some pilots reduce or even turn off life support
systems to conserve energy during combat. The emergency life support system
will generate oxygen for 6 hours, and is plugged directly into the flight
suit or helmet.
The remainder of the vest contains a holster for a hand phaser, a combat tricorder, standard combat ration pack, standard combat medical kit, knife, PM-1 locator beacon, communicator, an emergency inflatable shelter, 2 half-liter pouches of drinking water, and a respirator/filter mask. Pockets or straps can be added to carry a joystick and engine controller for pilot's serving on craft with interchangeable controls.
