Borg episodes:
Q-Who
Bestof Both Worlds (Parts 1 & 2)
I, Borg
Descent (Parts 1 & 2)
First Contact
Unity
Scorpion (Parts 1 & 2) & subsequent Voyager episodes
(just on these 9 episodes and 1 movie, we have already about 520 minutes of Borg related stories)
Thus far, the Borg have made 2 major incursions into the Federation in attempt to assimilate Earth. Will there be a 3rd attempt? Perhaps they have their own problems now with Species 8472. The Scorpion episodes did clearly establish that there are a LOT of Borg out there. One wonders then why they persist with futile attempts sending lone Borg cube vessels into Federation space when entire fleets are available. The Borg armada which flew pass Voyager would conceivably be unstoppable even against the entire Starfleet. Well, special
effects these days can now manage spectacular battle sequences so perhaps we may just see this next Borg attempt involving the entire Starfleet with Klingons, Romulans and everyone else in the Alpha Quadrant fending off a total Borg invasion. In hindsight, the Earth defense grid seen in Best of Both Worlds,
Part 2 was the most pathetic 3 ships seen in action. Surely Starfleet could have mustered a somewhat more decent defense even out of the ships in Spacedock, orbitals stations andeven the Mars shipyards. But then, there were limits to our special effects team then. Ah, if they just had some more of those awesome battle sequences against the Borg in First Contact...
How is it that female Borg (i.e. Borg Queen, 7 of 9), even whilst part of the Collective, seem to have so much more personality than male drones? In this aspect, they seem to be obsessed with finding counterparts (i.e. Picard/Locutus, Data). Most be some collective hive thing, like with ants and bees where every member services the Queen mindlessly. This then brings about the question, do female Borg breed? Well, in Q-Who, they showed that Borg were born biologically human, then later augmented with cybernetics. Must all be test-tube babies then.
In Descent, Parts 1 & 2, the Borg with Hugh were cut-off from the Collective but yet they survive fine. In contrast, 7 of 9 undergoes a major crisis and even begins to die when her human cells and cybernetics clash. How is it then that Hugh and company get along fine? Perhaps it could be something related to Hugh and co. being born Borg so there are no biological conflict with Borg enhancements. Yet they seem to adapt better than the crisis faced by 7 of 9. I suppose then we have the case where assimilated species must revert back to their original forms once disconnected from the Collective, like 7 of 9 and the freed-Borg seen in Unity. Wonder how Hugh and co. are doing now after so many years? At the very least, he should be grown up. So then, do the Borg age and die after a certain number of years? This has yet to be examined.
