R'daran is the rider of brown Toliath and weyrmate of Sialla, rider of green Eraith. He is the father of a daughter, three-turn-old Sarine, who is fostered within the Weyr, and a newly-born son, Darin. Darin had a difficult birth which may well affect him in the future... R'daran's son, Diall, died of a childhood disease a turn ago, which affected his father badly.

R'daran is a dour, almost surly man but with a dry sense of humour that only shows when he is among friends. He is very capable at fighting Thread although his lack of tact has barred him from a senior position in his wing.

He was born at Telgar Weyr, the son of a bronzerider and a greenrider. His younger twin, a bronzerider, is currently a wingleader at Telgar while his little sister rides the Weyr's weyrling gold. He also has a paternal half-sister at Fort who rides a green. R'daran is considered, especially by his father, to be the family failure as he 'only' Impressed a brown and holds no rank in his wing or flight.

R'daran transferred to Lakesedge when he and Sialla, who was already at Lakesedge, decided to become weyrmates.
