The Prophecy starts with Hearne showing Robin a strange series of images that make up a prophecy of what is to come. Next, we see Little John in the dungeon of Nottingham with another man by the name of Mark.
It is soon learned that Prince John is coming to Nottingham, and his right-hand man suggests to Gisburne (acting Sheriff whilst DeReinault is away) that the castle walls need repairing before the Prince gets there. At this point John and Mark are taken from the dungeon to go to work in the quarries to get rock for the castle walls. In the meantime, Prince John turns up at Nottingham, and with him he brings a mysterious hooded prisoner. Robin learns that John is working in the quarry , and goes with rest of the men to rescue him and Mark. When back at their camp, John tells Robin about the mysterious hooded prisoner that Price John brought with him. Robin, of course, decides that he will save this prisoner, and Mark offers to go into the castle as a decoy.
Whilst in the castle, Mark is caught and thrown in the dungeon where the Prince has already put Gisburne. Here it emerges that Mark is, in fact, working for Gisburne. In the meantime, Robin and his men capture the Abbot Hugo in Sherwood and hold him prisoner. Whilst questioning him, they learn that the mysterious prisoner is actually Sir Richard of Leaford, Marians Father who was supposed to have died in Normandy.
This spurrs Robin on and he manages to get into the castle by posing as an injured soldier.Once in, he and his men rescue Sir Richard and Mark and kill the obligatory guard or two!!! They take Sir Richard back to Sherwood where he is reunited with Marian. Once there he descides that he has to go back to Normandy to fight at Richard's side and makes plans to leave. Mark offers to go with Richard back to Normandy and he accepts. Robin also accompanies the two of them to the sea to see them off. In the meantime Hugo reveals that Mark is a traitor and is out to kill Richard. Much is sent after Robin on horseback to warn him of Mark's intentions. Much gets there just as they are sailing off and Robin rides out to stop Mark and save Sir Richard from death. Sir Richard makes it off on the second attempt, and at the same time in Nottingham news of King Richard's death means that John is now the King of England.
