'The Kings Fool' stars John Rhys-Davies of Sliders fame as Richard the Lionheart. Whilst riding through Sherwood he is attacked by outlaws, but saved in the nick of time by Robin who invites him back to the camp. Here he tels Robin and his men that his name is the 'Chevalier Diguise', which, for those of us who are up to date with our French, means 'the Knight in Disguise' or the 'Disguised Knight'. When the Knight leaves he is charged for his food, but he wrestles with Little John for the right to pass. Richard the Lionheart wins and reveals his true identity to the men, and invites them to Nottingham Castle for dinner that night. All of the men go except for Will who is suspicious of the King and refuses to go.

When they get to Nottingham, they are captured by Gisburne who presents them to the King by way of a gift. The King, however, tells Gisburne that he invited Robin and his men, and embarrases him infront of everyone there. The Sheriff and Abbot Hugo are not happy about Robin and his men feasting at their expense, but there is nothing they can do. They are woken the following morning after a heavy night, having been taken to a barn by the Sheriff's soldiers for the night. Robin is summoned to the King who asks him to come and fight for him in Normandy, and Robin accepts. In the meantime, Will is in Sherwood by himself when an arrow slams into a tree by his head. Will is all ready to shoot back when he sees that the arrow has been fired by Herne and has been inscribed with writing.

Robin and his men are invited to perform their skills infront of the King and other nobles. John with his staff, Robin with his bow and the like, and in the mentime, Much is in Sherwood telling Will that they have been pardoned and to come to Nottingham. Will refuses to go and tells Much not to trust king John. He also gives him the arrow that Herne fired to give to Robin. After Robin and his men have all been invited to Normandy with King Richard, they return to the barn and tell Robin their fears. John is the first to tell Robin that he doesn't want to go, and he walks out of Nottingham. Much passes him on the way out, but John doesn't speak to him. Nasir has already gone, but he, in true Nasir fashion, didn't say anything. Tuck stays with Robin because he needs to stay and protect Marion. Much gives the arrow to Robin who sees that it is from Herne and it says not to trust the King.

Robin goes to confront the King once more, but he is ignored. The King is worried that Robin is not loyal and orders Gisburne to kill him. That night Gisburne and his men go to the barn to kill robin. They string up Tuck and Much and Gisburne is about to kill Robin when Marion shoots him in the back with a crossbow. Gisburne drops his lantern and the barn catches fire. Robin poilishes off the other guards quickly as Marion gets Much and Tuck down. They steal a few horses and ride out of Nottingham. As they leave, Gisburne fires at them before passing out. They ride to Raylan's wheel where they realise that Gisburne shot Marion as they rode out. Robin calls on Herne to help and he does. He makes the wheel turn and all of Robin's men return and Marion is gets healed. And this is how this episode concludes.
