AUXILIARY STAFF: The Auxiliary Staff of the SSD is mainly made up of specialists employed by the SSD to work on individual projects. The Auxiliary Staff are under the direction of the Administrative division but have no commanding officer. Their services are occasionally used by the six SSD departments. In addition, to hold these positions, applicants need not be Starfleet officers but may be civilians.
