| The swamplands are inhabited by Swamp Spiders of GOR...or the Spider People. They are monstrous insects with huge mandibles, much like curved knives. They are eight legged creatures that produce an elastic-like adhesive that they use to snare their subjects or prey. The Spider People, while hideous in sight, are a civilized species. They very intelligent and are complacent by nature but they have no tolerance for irrational creatures.Tarl Cabot encountered Nar of the Spider People when he failed on his mission to steal the Homestone from Ar. After abducting Talena and riding off on his tarn with her, a brief struggle ensued between them. Tarl Cabot fell from his tarn and landed in the swamps. When he awoke, he found himself covered in the thick, sticky Cur-lon Fiber with Nar standing over him. Tarl Cabot knew his life was over and waited to be crushed in the huge incisors of the creature's mandibles. But the creature spoke to him, surprising and amazing Tarl Cabot, that this creature could talk at all, and asked him if he was of Ar. When explained that he wasn't and Nar learned that Tarl Cabot was the man who stole the homestone of Ar, he befriended him, expressing his disdain for the Men of Ar. When they encountered Talena in the swamps, who had also fallen off the tarn after Tarl Cabot did, Nar helped him regain her capture again and led Tarl Cabot with Talena to the edge of the swamps, helping fight off the tharlarions along the way. Nar left Tarl Cabot at the swamps edge, wishing him wellness and giving him warning to beware of Talena before they parted their ways. |
