I was hired originally as a service technician with my main duty being "Get line 1!". That meant I was to answer the main telephone line that was used for customer inquiries. Due to the skill with which I helped clients on the phone and in the store I soon became the company's main source of sales. When the level of sales generated required the hiring of three additional sales people, and two new technicians, I became the Sales Manager. With that increase in sales activity, we soon outgrew the premises we were in. Upon relocating we became the largest computer store in Vancouver. As Sales Manager I trained the new staff. To make the job easier I developed procedures and the necessary software to manage sales estimation and invoicing using the, then new, Microsoft Office Suite. |
