Tales of Lassane
Character Creation Rules

GM: Me, Anri-chan! Duh!

System: GURPS, 3rd Edition, using the Basic Set and Compendium I. Because I can't afford anything else.

Starting Points: 200, with -45 in disadvantages and -5 in quirks.

Advantages: A couple of things:

Advantages not allowed: Anything "cinematic" (Rapier Wit, etc.), any advantage from late TL4 and higher, Kung Fuey (Harmony with the Tao, Trained by Master, etc.), anything related to time travel/gravity/world hopping/etc. Super/Racial advantages are limited to Half-breeds. Were-creatures are not allowed, because they don't exist.

Disadvantages: A few notes:

Disadvantages not allowed: Same as advantages. Use your common sense. Failing that: ask the GM. (ME!)

Skills: A few things:

The following skills aren't allowed: Anything from the later end of TL4 (gunpowder is too new to be widespread) and higher, Asian styled weapons and skills.

Magic: Magic is widespread across Isian, but fewer and fewer mages are being born to use it. Also, because of the Theodist Cult, most mages are looked at with suspicion, unless they are aligned with the Lyceum in Thalen. In most kingdoms they are subject to the same laws as other people.

The mana level for most of Isian is "low," with more and more areas becoming "no" as time goes on. (Note, though, that the entire kingdom of Theodrin has remained "normal.") "High" and "Very high" are rumored to exist, but, for obvious reasons mages are skeptical about that.

Martial Arts: Most modern Martial Arts styles are unheard of, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Martial Artists are subject to the GM's approval. (That being Me.)

Non-human Races: All PCs in Tales of Lassane will be either human or (subject to GM approval) a half-breed.

Psionics: They don't exist. Period.

Tech Level: Isian is approaching the end of its Medieval period (TL3-4). The printing press has been invented and, as magic wanes, gunpowder is beginning to make its appearance. In the absence (and rarity) of healing magic, medical advances are slightly behind the rest of technology, but is quickly catching up as more and more physicians search for alternate means of healing. (TL2-3) Travel is typical of the age (horses, carriages, fully-rigged ships, hot-air balloons = TL4). Power is provided by either manual labor, horses, or wind.

Equipment: All Ancient/Medieval equipment is available (B206-212) at the listed prices. Magical items are extremely expensive, and are very hard to come by.

The Other Stuff: Any other questions, concerns, whatever, ask the GM. (Once again, that's me.)
